Hotel assistance needed!
I've looked at Patong hotels until my eyes have finally blurred... As I've never been to Phuket/Patong before I'm looking for the best value with a few certain things. It seems that if a hotel looks really good it won't have something I really want. Which are: in room safe, balcony, pool (down the street ok), gf, under 2500 baht or so. I'd like it located in town but a slight moto ride would be ok. A nice shower and internet is better but not a deal breaker.
Any assistance from this esteemed group would be great!
Thanks!

The Ramaburin resort is very nice - you can view it on www.ramaburin.com. Delux rooms are best (c.THB1800 last we were there, I seem to remember). Safety depo boxes are at reception which is manned 24/7 and they have their own security guard at night. Lovely pool with bar too. Close to beach (3 mins) and c.10 mins walk from Bangla Rd so quite quiet. GF no prob or chg.

Yeah Patong Villa is a good hotel. They dont have in room safes but you can store stuff in the reception. Haven't experienced any problems the 2 times I stayed there.

I am booked in at the Patong Pearl Resortel. Never been there before, so I can't report on it just yet. But it certainly seems (I hope!) to meet most, if not all, of your criteria.
And you should get a fair bit of change out of 2500B per night.
2500B is a fair whack of cash though, so perhaps your minimum standards are a bit above mine.

Hey fotonut
I spent 20some nights in November and early December 05 at the Casa Summer Breeze hotel and loved it there. Sounds like it may fit your needs. Check out the link and decide for yourself. Hope this helps.

The Summer Breeze is a good hotel and I would reccomend it to anybody looking for a good value place to stay with friendly people but one of the negatives is that it doesn't have a balcony for the rooms and the showers are weak. Everything else about it though is excellent.

Something I've wondered on occasion but never thought to ask:
Why are people so concerned with having a hotel pool when there's great beaches in walking distance (or even a short ride/drive)? Is it just because they don't want sand on their feet, they can't stand swimming in the ocean, or because they don't like the crowds?
Just want to understand the fascination with hotel pools...I've stayed at places where the hotel pool was a real dump (but these are places a LONG way from water...)

I would like to be able to walk out of my room, stumble 50 feet and fall into the pool. Not walk 1/2 mile, trudge througe the sand, try and find a safe place to put my stuff, then get wet.
That's not saying that I don't go to the beach, but usually for a morning or evening walk.

This is a great place. Mannaged by Thai, has a big pool in front of the bungalows and airco. I've been there three times and I just loved it. There is at nighttime a guard and all rooms have a safetybox, kabeltv and fridge.
Some -facts
You need a motorbike to go in Patong because it's 20 minutes walking to Patong center.
Owned by Thai, so becareful you make good apointments with the owners about the price and service.
The restaurant is shit and expensive so you don't need the breakfast.
Some +facts
Payed 12000 Bath for a month (cheap)
There will be no fine if you bring someone for the night.
Really great swimmingpool (with lights in the water) andif you're not to noise you can even use it at night.
If you arive you can remove the drinks from the fridge and put your own drinks inside.
The staff is nice and safe.
You also can rent a motorbike for 3000 baht a month there.
Girls love staying there, you feel like middle in the jungle there with all the noises from animals.
Hope this is something for you.
Forward.
