very serious - think you're losing me on this as well
I'm talking about the ease of meeting people, the friendliness, the good food and the whole experience enjoyed by those of us who chose to visit LOS. Don't think i need to labour the point further, do i?
I definitely prefer the courtesy of the majority Thais and the treatment i receive from TG's as opposed to falang women.
still up2u and anyone else who might prefer the overweight, foul-mouthed and belligerent females that tend to populate cities in the UK these days.

I have just returned from Patong Villa. On arrival they put me in a standard room and not the superior with pool view which I ordered. They had got me on computer to check out on the 6th and not the 16th. So on the 6th I had to move to a bungalow room, and change a day later to the superior room (The one I had originally booked). I personally believe they may overbook rooms as there will always be one or two ' no shows'.
Another downside was the daily ritual of having to walk through the shopping mall to and from the hotel and the usual 'Just one more shirt sir', DVD, suit etc and this was still happening on day 14.Music could also be heard playing until about 5 in the morning. That did not bother me as I was out late anyway.
On the plus side, I thought the location was great for beach and bangla and a nice pool.
Staff were friendly to me and the room when they got it right was good
Would I stay again in Patong Villa.............................YES

Like we have never been ripped off in our own countries, Hotels, Restaurants, Pubs, Clubs, etc.
Yeah Right...
My credo is "shits n giggles" mate - I can honestly say I never really looked at my check-out bill. (My mate just said to me I owe him XYZ $ when we get back to Aust). By no means I'm filthy rich, it's just some times (like on holiday with your mates or other half) that money means Jack Shit.
I think I was at Singapore when I discovered I had been charged for another mates "Joiner Fee"...I looked at my mate and told him, he said "thanks mate" and we went for a beer pissing ourselves laughing about it
(we still laugh about it today, isn’t that what holiday memories are for aren't they?)
We are still deciding 3mths later who shouted who the most and who pays for the next round at the pub when we meet.
I can't even remember how much loose coin we left for Housekeeping, but I can guess it would have cost us a lost more in excess baggage than what it was worth.
Sorry to hear that it got so "personal" over WATER.
I guess I may have been called the same or worse at some time or another but luckily I’m not fluent in the local language.
Hope you have a better stay next time.
SD
PS: That mate of mine still hasn't paid me for that JF

My goodness is you a mad man or what…?
I have also stayed at the Patong Villa and was very glad to stay there. I will definitely stay there again next time I go to LOS alone.
But no normal person will make a big scene and argument for a bottle of water what so ever. It is stupid and make yourself look like a unintelligent man.
Consider your own behaviour next time you are meet with such a “big demand”

Patong Villa
Sorry it's been such a while since either of us posted a message on here. All stack of family shit has kept us busy.
But in respect to Patong Villa we stayed for 10 nights in a superiour room last May and extended it by another 2 nights while we were there. We had met some nice thai people and wanted to spend more time with them. The hotel staff we competent and our extended stay was no problem. We stayed in the same room. Although there were very few other guests so wasnt a problem. They told us when we checked out if we book with them again, they will givce us discount. We have just booked for 18 nights and this time booked a bungalow. We opted for the bungalow has we always felt a little weird, walking through the reception at 2/3 am in the morning hand in hand (we are husband and wife) with a thai girl for the night. so we figured we would book a bungalow and aviod the stares from the hotel staff. Although I'm sure they could care less about our nightly habits.
When we booked out they gave us all our receipts for mini bar and restaurant bills. As you know when you are checking out the last thing on your mind is to go through every single receipt. Alth Julie my wife who works in retail says i should not assume that as she deals with some very **** people. Anyway given the total bill was only $20/$30 more than i had guessed I wasn't going to argue given the great time we had had and the service we got was always with a smile.
In respect to the promised discount their standard cost for a bungalow is 2200 baht for May we have been quoted 1800 baht with breakfast and all charges included, which includes joiner fee. We are happy to pay the quoted amount and looking forward to our stay again.

Just would like to say so sorry to WildOne. I can feel that you really upset and disapoint with what happened to you. And I hope next time when you come visit my country again you will find a nice place and nice person. Thai people are nice but not all of them. But I'm not agree with what they did with you and your g/f. That is really rude thing to do and say as that with customer. I know many comment they complain to you that why you can't pay for few dollar. About your story I can feel that it nothing with money but it is from feeling. Everydays you have to change room without say nothing and at the end they treat you so bad. I can imagine that what they was say to you in Thai. whatever, just try to forget about what happend (I know it diffecult). just try to think that ..HUMAN ARE DIFFERENT... and I hope kind of this thing not happend to other tourist again.... Good luck to you and your g/f for a next trip

reminds me of an argument i witnessed in bkk between a bar owner and a tourist. the tourist was checking his bar tabs and was convinced there was one extra chit in his pot for a beer he didnt drink!! (yes...thats right...ONE)
instead of thinking...hey..the barowner must have made a mistake..paid...smiled and left, he thought he would argue the point..and boy did he argue!
so i'm sitting in this bar with my cold beer watching this situation escalating...next a couple of the BG's get involved..the guy starts fighting with the girls...the bar manager jumps over the bar and gets involved. the police arrive and take away the tourist! so now he's in a police cell for the sake of one beer!
what im trying to say...it does look like you had some bad treatment at the hotel...but these things can escalate into something horrible very quickly. i would have paid and left with a smile!

Not only is this is a bit suspicious looking for your first post, but you don't really seem to have taken in to account certain things like
a). we only have WildOne's word for it to say that the staff got hysterical
b). in fact we only have his side of the story
c). the Patong Villa did find him a room for a few extra days in the height of peak season after he had asked at the last minute.
IMO WildOne is a cmplete twat at getting upset over being charges an extra 30-40 baht for a couple of bottles of water and making such a fuss of it. I really don't think that any of the alledged staff tantrums took place, I think they are a figment of his imagination and just being used to back up his story of the overcharge in order to get more sympathy. There have been far too many other board members coming on and showing surprise at what happened for me to believe that WildOne is being completely honest.

I deliberately kept out of this thread up until now and perhaps you are right, but I have thought long and hard about this and it seems that too many people are saying things like "You had problems Patong Villa ? Are you sure ?" etc. I have never stayed there and have no loyalty to the place, but it seems that the OP really wants to give the place a bad name and over what ? 30-40 baht for some water he denies taking !?!?!
Ask yourself something Tarzan, if it was a mate of yours and you were with him, what would you say ? Would it be "come on, just pay the money you (twat/idiot/pratt/wanker - insert your own word) and let's go".

Come on....
He shared his experiences, said what had happened during all his stay, said later that he admitt that he was doing wrong being angry over teamoney... Why you have to think long and hard about it then?
It was a long thread, and lots of people sad their thoughts.. Why does people start this thread again? Dont they read the earlier posts?? Its like busting in an open door.. Useless to comment if they dont have anything of value to say......

Steaming In Thailand
I have to admit to quite enjoying dealing with Thai Hotels. They are quirky and usually incomprehensible (I don't really speak Thai in spite of what I say to my G/F). But at the bottom of an obvious mistake is often some kind of strange Thai logic...
I learn so much in Thailand about how to deal with strange situations and do enjoy it very much. Usually the problem resolves itself, but not in they way I am expecting!
But some Hotels just get your goat. (Make you pissed off). I am afraid that the C&N Resort and Spa is one of mine. It is the indifference, the lack of attention, the feeling of insignificance etc. I know I am insignificant but I enjoy the pretence that I am not when I am paying someone a lot of money. (Note. The C&N Resort and Spa is NOT the C&N Hotel - It is the one with the pool up on the hill).
I sympathise with Wildone as it sounds like the last straw on a fraught holiday but I might have checked out earlier and do always try to resist the temptation to go off on one - "Don't you realise who I am etc"... It does not cut much ice in Thailand and tends to make you look foolish.

Thanks anyways for your message. I'm a new member of this site. That's right this is my first post. I choose to post with a good topic not every topic for fun. I have read message from WildOne, and just feel so sorry for him. What wrong with that and what that made you a bit suspicious. You're right that WildOne getting upset with extra charge of water. But If something that you never do. Is it not fair to pay for it even for few baht??. For this case, may not staff wrong either may not WildOne wrong. But the way that they say to their customer is not a right way. That's all!!

Mini-Bars !!!
Hi There . . .
I stay at C & N Hotel whenever I get to Phuket. It's not luxurious in any sense of the word, but it is clean, comfortable, with Cable TV, Air-con, Balcony (even if the view is into the window of the building next door)!
When I am shown to my room, I always ask that the Mini-Bar Fridge is emptied out, and I sign that nothing has been used. Sometimes, depending who the Porter is, I will get mild protestations, and repeated sentences like 'But is for you'.
I then set the fridge up with my duty-free Vodka, usually a bottle or two of Mekong Whisky, with Coke, and not to forget my ice-cube mould, filled naturally with Bottled water.
Cheers
Pdm3
