safari beach hotel

stayed there from 7.4. to 16.4.07
was second time in the hotel and i have to say it
was excellent again!
the staff was extremely friendly to me and also very GF , at least on arriving
as i always sent the girls home while me staying in room :-)
bit strange that they ask ladies to leave ID but don't call me to check when girls are leaving...
i stayed in standard room, payed 1800 nett a night. it's not very cheap but definately value for money!
they have free wifi which is quite important for me, works fine in general only have 5 to 10 minutes
problems with connections sometimes...
rooms are very spacious and clean. have all the features like bathrobe, coffee makeking fac., balcony, nice pool, thick towels. maids also very friendly.
the garden you walk through to room is beautifully maintained, that's why it's called "safari", i guess
for my taste it's very close to 4 star...
the location is unbeatable. cross the road and you are in beach bar for breakfast or swimming, turn left, it's 30 meters to bangla road...

RE-Yorkshire Inn I have stayed there three times and find it a great little hotel, i always book a room with a double bed as i like to spread out, i also like to play find the Thai Girl. The staff are great and its in a brilliant position within two minuites of Bangala road. Very Guest friendly with night security! and ID check for the girls.
The food is excellent and i enjoy the Thai food that they offer, always had a good meal! i have booked for Sep 07 and Feb 08. ideal place if you get that Bangala Road fever!

Lawan Residence

Lawan Residence

I am staying at the Lawan Residence for the second time after arriving yesterday and just wanted to pass on my opinon of the place. Firstly the location on Soi Diving opposite Christens Massage ( The big Pink Palace ) is great for a newbie in Patong as it is only 2 mins safe walk from Bangla Road which is great especially after a heavy night out with a guest in tow ( no fee ). The rooms are clean, a good size, the air con works well and is quite. The prices start from 500 Baht I payed 750 in low season for a deluxe room going up to 1400 in High season. Gary the owner is a delight to deal with and even arranges taxi's to meet you at the airport which is a godsend for a newbie who doesnt know a Soi from a Sole. The rooms come with a stocked fridge and a nice touch is baskets in each room containing all the little things you may need late at night from packets of chips to some funny rubber products with durex written all over them. Changes that have happened since even my last stay 6 weeks ago - a new Italian cafe with great coffee and high speed computer access for guests including WiFi for people with laptops which I am using now to write this report. All in all highly recommend and worth a stay especially if you are finding it hard to find accomadation in high season. You can find their website with a google search.

Hope this helps

Regards

GHLamb

Last Minute Suggestions?

Anyone got info on the Arimana on Soi Sansabai? The website says it's a 8-10 minute drive to the beach, but on the map it looks like a 8-10 minute walk.

Looking for good last minute accommodation guys (12-23-1/11), if anyone can make some suggestions. Never been over during high season, so many hotels are already booked solid. Thanks in advance!

I just googled the place cos I've never seen that place in Soi San Sabai.

If you look at the map, you'll see it's not in San Sabai.

It'd be a good 10 min walk to the beach from there.

The room prices look good at 1200-1400b high season.

Thanks man, I emailed the Ferb Guesthouse through Latestays.com, so hopefully I will hear from them.

I also have offers from:

T-Son-Sine which is 10 minutes from Bangla and 150 meters to the beach. 1600 THB.

Blue Ocean Resort 2700 THB

Hotel Lek Murphy's 1400 THB

and enquiry out at Arimana Hotel.

I will keep looking and thanks a lot!

G'day,

Just come back from an 8-day stay @ the Patong Resort, located next to the Patong Tower.

Good sized rooms and bathrooms and relatively clean and tidy hotel all-round. Friendly staff (especially around the pool/sports bar and cleaners), was always greeted with a smile and any issues were sorted A.S.A.P. All the facilities you require, good sized pool and sun lounges. Included breakfast is on the average side as are most hotels.
Location is brilliant, with access to beach, bangla and Rath-u-Thit Roads from either entrances. Within 2min walk to 7/11, Pharmacy, Massage and small markets. During June there were mixed ages of people staying there, but mostly couples in their 50's. Services charges are reasonable, but look for things such as safe deposit box charges (50baht/day).

Joiner fees. If you want to bring back a local Thai girl, you will be stung 700baht, and the security guards can be a bit rude to your guest. Once inside the lobby though its all smiles from the service counter. Friends of mine brought back farang lady guests most nights and were not charged a single fee nor asked whether they were staying at the hotel.

Would recommend for families, couples - but not single gents looking for a bit of late-night fun.

Cheers,
RangerJ

Stayed at the White Rose a sister hotel to the Yorkshire Inn and located about 30 meters further up the road.

My friend and I had the Penthouse for 2 weeks in November. Only 3 apartments in the 3 story building. We had the Arncliffe suite with 2 separate King rooms with own bathroom and a lounge area between the two for social occasions. 3 bar fridges, 3 large plasmas each with DVD players and satellite TV plus free Wi-Fi and security cameras in the stair wells. Reception and room service is at the Yorkshire Inn. No guest fees in fact we had several girls (4 at one stage) back at the apartment in the small hours of the morning for some cheap drinks, games and various other forms of entertainment. Paid about 2100Baht each which was perfect for that time of the year.

Would recommend it for two friends traveling together.

Cheers

It looks good Crusty, but unfortunately for me & possibly others, it's a 100% non smoking hotel.
I'm sure there'll be just as many guys. happy with that too.

gotta say 850bht a night is a good price for an Ibis.....a decent standard of hotels worldwide but haven't stayed in this one yet...wonder if JF is charged and whether its up to the same standard it sets around the world...can see lots of euro trade as its a well known brand on the continent

I wrote earlier in this post about how good the White Rose was when traveling with a friend and of having access too the 3 rooms and no guest fees. Perfect for a couple of hard partying mates.

As the next trip will be as a couple I booked into the Ibis from the 4th to the 7th of August before flying back to the Gold Coast, it cost 1050B a night for the two of us.

I will be happy to include a review in my trip report on my return.

Hopefully meet some of you BM's on my rush through town on the way home. I would have spent more time in Phuket but am off to meet the GF's family in Ubon Ratchathani, and flight home was booked from Phuket before Ubon was planned so its my excuse for a couple of days R&R

No Condo...they shouldn't try that one on....but it does happen from time to time.....

If it is your GF who registers with you and stays with you the whole time that would be highly unlikely...even in the most non TG friendly places

I am merely surmising on this for the likes of myself.....single, hansum, attracted to TGs and believe in variety does add a certain spice to life.....

include her name on the booking form ahead of arriving would be my advice to head off any sort of confusion/opportunism by the hotel

Here's another one which is GF friendly (mentioned on their site): Harrys Steakhouse & Pub - Phuket Thailand

Has anybody eaten there incidentally? I was going through the clickable menus and they seem reasonably priced.

Last time in Patong I stayed at Patong Pearl Resortel and it is guest friendly. Nice place with cute maids and receptionists. A little pricey but about a block from the beach and 5 blocks to Banglar rd. I was very tempted to proposition one of the maids! Anybody ever done that?
