Question BANGLA BUNGALOWS? (Info/Experiences wanted on this & others...)

Hi, all --

Just spent three weeks in Phuket over the Christmas/New Year's holidays, staying at L&S Kamala Bay Village on the last hill before reaching Kamala. Nice place (and low price), but too far from the action -- would have rather spent the 200-400 baht/each-way tuk-tuk & motorbike taxi prices on more BG action...

Am planning a return visit in May or June, probably for two months or more and want to stay close to the Bangla Road action. Am looking at ALL options (including apartment rentals) and have found some good places online around Soi Sansabai.

Don't want to spend a lot of money on a room (trying to keep it below 600 baht/night).

Does anyone have any personal experience with BANGLA BUNGALOWS on Soi Lion? Found their website and it looks like the budget-oriented type of place I'd prefer but no prices listes (I emailed them yesterday but no reply yet). Are they guest-friendly? Clean rooms? Shower in room?

Any info would be appreciated...

Also, others on my short list right now (and experiences of these would be helpful, too) include:
Baan Tip Guesthouse on Soi Jintana
Chalermporn Guesthouse
Green Garden Bungalow
Paradizo Guesthouse (A/C room listed at 5,500 baht per month w/free laundry)
Nanai Residence
Blue Sky Residence
Thai Base Camp
Baan Arun Si (apartment at 15,000 baht/month -- on the upper end of what I'd like to pay)

Thanks in advance....

Cool Monthly rates

Look at the thread currently running about the Ex Pat Hotel. If you take their monthly rate it falls within your budget.

Stevem stayed in Bangla Bungalows on his last visit. No doubt he will advise you.

Stayed there last November when moving out of the house. The rooms are small, but adequate. The AC is too bloody cold for my liking. Get a room down the back, as the front ones are too noisy with Soi Lion being just at the entrance. I have no idea how much we paid, as the misses took care of that.

A couple of nice friendly Burmese girls running the place.

Will be staying there again in March. Its just convenient.

I actually crossed the ExPat off of my list fairly early, although I don't recall the exact reasons....

And thanks, stevem, for your comments as well...think I might book for a week to test it out....I can always move elsewhere if it's not to my liking....(probably end up at the ExPat after all)

Anybody else have any personal experience with Bangla Bungalows, or any of other "unknown" guesthouses/hotels that haven't been mentioned much around here?

I just spent 4 night at Bangla bungalow from Feb.7 - Feb.11 rooms are clean with shower, double beds t a going rate of 1000baht per night due to peak season. Most importantly it is "guest friendly". Hope this helps.
