One Ways

Hi, does anyone know if I book a one-way flight to Thailand with EVA Air will I have problems at immigration? I'm moving to Thailand on 2nd March and I am just going to start off doing a visa run every 30 days and maybe get something sorted after. I know Thai don't even let you fly but unsure of others. Thanks in advance.

If your moving here why not get a real visa.. At least a triple tourist visa..

The airlines can sometimes be a problem (not immigration) often they wont let you on to your flight without an onward ticket (if you dont have a real visa) when they tried this on my brother he just told them he had an e-ticket on air asia and made upa number.. They were kinda confused and pissed off but they couldnt prove him wrong.. Ticketless airlines are a bit odd in this..

Cool Another way

The way I did it was to get a cheapo return ticket and just dump the return bit.You can then start originating your flights from Thailand.

You should be OK with Thai immigration.I always found it was some lard **** check in lady giving me stick in Heathrow.(I wonder why?)

The easiest and cheapest way around this is to just buy a one way ticket to a nearby place, like Vientiane or PP cheap air fare. This way the airline cannot give you any grief, and once you arrive in Bangkok just cancel it and present the ticket for a full refund.

Don't understand the comments here, Just booked a one way ticket with Thai Air, spoke to the travel agent and then to Thai Air because they offer an additional 15kg baggage allowance if you are immigrating, so why is the desk clerk giving anyone any grief? they never asked if I have a imm o visa (I have), so it doesn't seem a problem. Or is just other airlines that give the probs, when booking I was told Eva also offer additional baggage allowance for one way trips don't know about other airlines.

If a carrier lands in a country, and you are denied entry, it is the carriers responsibility to remove you from that country, and they are also fined. The US imposes fines of USD$3k, not sure what the other countries do.

Some airlines are *VERY* strict in enforcing this.

Cheers Steve, so in effect it would have been better had they asked questions about my visa in the first place.

Usually its just the check in desk.. I do know of 2 people who had been refused check in and had to sprint round the airport and buy the first available outbound ticket they could find to make the check in desk let them on !!

Me I would just edit an airasia or tiger (to make it current) ticket email and print it out...

hi
i strongly agree on getting the imigtartion o visa for 90 days stays, if timed right these can keep you going for 15 months
i flew from gatwick with phucket air one way bought through westeats travel £211 inc tax ok they dont run anymore but sure westeast will put you right
another good idea i agree with is book an intrnational flight with air asia they have some free flights you just pay the tax about £8
im not sure if your planning returning but think a 1 year open with eva will only be around £500 i think a one month return runs at about £320 plus tax with eva at the momentagain westeast travel
but the best money you wil spend is the £90 imigration o visa this will have paid for itself in two months with no 12 hour round trip visa run
hope you get the information needed
cheers
jam

But will I be eligible for the non-immigration O visa? I'll be arriving with around 1 million baht. Maybe I should sort the visa out first through Hull?

Approach Hull asking for a visa for visiting friends and family.. You need to hjave someone sign a paper saying they will sponsor you (send you home) in the event of no funds.. This can be a UK person etc..

The Hull website has all the paperwork required online via PDF's and even sample letters of invite that can be printed with your name added to it.. The conul Alan Taylor is a real gent who seems to do his best to assist to the limit of the laws...

Hull really does make things easy for Brits.
