spirits robbers in Iran

Hi everone,

I was wondering if anyone else experienced the same? Last December I came to Thailand with Mahan-air from Iran. We had to change planes in Tehran, but when we arrived in the transit lounge, our hand lugage had to go through an x-ray machine. Every passenger had to hand over the tax-free spirits they bought at the previous airport. They gave us a receipt and told us that we could collect our spirits at BKK airport but that it was not allowed to bring it into the transit lounge. In BKK it turned out that the bottles where not there, not a single one. I think they must have had a big party in Tehran. On the way back home same same, people had to hand over their bottles in Tehran and did not receive them back at there final destination. So this is a warning for BM's not to bring spirits when flying with Mahan. As for the service during the flight, it was quite ok, when you keep in mind that it was only € 520,- in high season. The only backdraw was: NO ALCOHOL served.

Cheers,

Raval

Only certain states and countries have the strict no-alcohol rule.

Saudi Arabia,Iran and Kuwait are dry

Sharjah which is 5 miles from Dubai(where alcohol is allowed) is also dry although still in the UAE.

Other than those mentioned, you can buy alcohol freely in hotel bars.

Obviously alcohol can still be obtained in the "dry" states but at your own peril
