Just book a hotel near bangla, get your butt down there, and see where your type of crowd is hanging out!

Thara Patong is a nice hotel - location, service and price/quality wise -, but I believe to have read that they currently are no longer GF. Better check that first.

Agree, No way this guy would like Thara Patong. Many many hotels cheaper and closer to Bangla. I'd say much closer to a 10 minute walk down busy sidewalks. Also not guest friendly--700 baht joiner fee I think. Also not a party hotel. Very quiet at night, security guards around etc.. It's a nice hotel but not for a guy looking for a party.

For young travelers,  better stay in Patong area, many hotel there...
