I can recommend you Victoria guest house. It's close to the action in Patong (5 minutes walk from Bangla) and it's extremly girlfriendly, you can take 2 or 3 or 5 girls if you want, it seems it's totally up to you The rooms vary in size and the standard of the equipment but it's comfy, all rooms have AC, fridge, TV, etc etc. I stayed my self there last Nov/Dec and will be staying there in April as well. The price is due to your staying, I got a big room for 600 Baht a night and stayed 3 weeks. If you stay 2 weeks it'll probably be 700 or 800 Baht a night. Then again it's the owner who settles the rates.

If you want the more layed back atmosphere that Karon provides, then I suggest the http://www.hotel-mermaid.com/ . I booked a room on the top floor that faced the garden, and it was very quiet. It is girl friendly, and real close to the beach. 500-600 baht

A lot of members use the C&N Hotel in Patong. It comes well recommended and fits in your price range
