BM opinions to hotels/guesthouses
If you have some information’s (and perhaps own pics) to your accommodations please let me know in the thread.
Non guestfriendly hotels here. -- Hotels with are guestfriendly.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aloha Villa, Patong Beach, Phuket, Thailand
Aloha villa (rat-u-thit), was 2000 a night, 300 joiner fee advertised, rooms very average and TV had about 3 channels so was stuck with CNN for my 20 hour shaking in my bed sessions
(S1MON 08.Jan.2006)
Andaman Sea Guesthouse
…ive stayed at the anderman sea guest house twice.Lovely clean rooms, friendly staff and definatly no extra girfriend fees. The owner is an Canadian guy name off Flo,top bloke,I'll give u an example of his hospitality,he knew i wasnt game to hire a scooter while i was in town[i have enough trouble with the the traffic on 2 legs in Phuket, let alone 2 wheels]so one afternoon he took me for a ride on his m.bike showed me all different beaches, and he took me up in hills,to this neat sauna place the Hideaway, and then to a mate of his bar''Marks Bar''introduced me around, good bloke a.The hotel is in a small lane opposite that big soapy massage place, kristins is it,?.Hotel to MTB about a 10min walk.I paid 900b a nite, and was well happy...HE didnt have a web site in February, that may have changed it was on Flo's gunna do list, but heres his email.......andermanseaguesthouse@hotmail.com...al l the best...jay......
(jay ozpom 25.05.2006)
--------------
Try The Andaman Sea Guesthouse they are a friendly quiet GH opposite Christins (Bonus) they are GF friendly and the rooms are nice (I've stayed there a few times). Ony 5 mins from Bangla, mainly Aussie & Brit customers, no pool but have bar & small restaurant, and a pool table in reception, owner is a friendly canadian guy. (Oh I forgot they have in room safes also)
(Gollum 11.Jan.2006)
The Aspasia Phuket - Kata Beach
I stayed there already 3 times, one of my preferred hotels,
very quiet in low season, 2 great pools with view down to the beach
easy walk down to kata for eating
free internet access in any room, over rj45 network, so your notebook can be online all the time, or wlan access in the pool area
there is a big free business center as well, where you can do internet
rooms are very spacious and breakfast is great
no problem sitting on the terasse on a rainy day
easy access from the parking, enough space for parking car
free dvd player for your room and a large collection of dvds
some rooms are owned by farangs and rented by the management, so some have different styles of interior.
the standard rooms are really big,
the forest edge suites have two rooms with a/c and a kitchen area
(gregor200 22.06.2006)
Baan Laimai Beach Resort and Spa
I stayed there in May-05 and Nov-05 Never had a problem taking a girl back, no joiner fee & they didn't even have to leave their ID cards behind. It's a great hotel with a lovely pool. Totally recommend the place
Also I e-mailed Baan Laimai before I booked and they said "No joiner fee, promotion" - print the e-mail & take with you just in case
(Tha Gaffer 11.04.2006)
Baan Sukhothai Hotel and Spa Phuket, Patong Beach Thailand
baan sukothai is given off in a lot off flight + hotel packages in oz. they throw in patong merlin and baan sukothai on most packages, 1 cheaper than the other.
room i had was small, and not that good in the aircon and bathroom areas.
yes close to the action, noise not a real problem, 1000 bt joiner when i stayed there, phone calls at 0730 in the morning to get your BG out of there before the normal people arise and see BGs leaving the hotel.
if you can change your package to flights only, or with a couple on nights there, then your own accom worked out, do that.
most unfriendly hotel i stayed at in los
Fun2have 05.04.2006
----------------
It is a great property, but there are 3 different standards of rooms. The basic is the "standard" wing which is as you would expect, standard and backs onto the main drag, so it is noisy.
The other wing is the "deluxe" wing down the back, not too noisy and rooms better.
I have only ever stayed in the "water houses" which are really nice, and very quiet, but expensive. The bathrooms alone are about the size of the standard rooms, well not quite but you get the idea.
And it is definitely NOT GF or even Thai friendly. Had to go to reception so our Thai male friend could even enter the premises.
Stevem 05.04.2006
-------
I stayed there last year. I found it be a good hotel; noise wasn't an issue & the staff were really friendly.
However, it is not guest friendly. The mongering crowd is not their "target audience" so to speak & they make that pretty clear.....so fair enough it is their prerogative

( )changed to Baan Yin Dee Boutique Resort, Phuket, Patong Beach, Thailand
Ban Yin Dee is very, very gf. They will treat your girls like fully registered guests. One of the best hotels in Patong IMHO, only downsides are high cost and rather remote location
(Gildas 05. Jan.2006)
----------
i am a regular visitor at baan yin dee, and its magnificent!
as long as you are discreet, and not loud, you will have zero problems, and more importantly, they give no attitude whatsoever to any girls.
my 1st 4 times ive stayed there, and they were all at least 1 week stays, it was always with the same girl, so they knew her as much as me.
this last trip, i butterflyed, had a different girl every night and never had a problem.
the owners and the staff are great.
also, a great place to have a nice romantic, classy dinner. if your into that
(Marc26 04.Jan.2006)
Banglabungalow
Stayed there last November when moving out of the house. The rooms are small, but adequate. The AC is too bloody cold for my liking. Get a room down the back, as the front ones are too noisy with Soi Lion being just at the entrance. I have no idea how much we paid, as the misses took care of that.
A couple of nice friendly Burmese girls running the place.
Will be staying there again in March. Its just convenient
(Stevem 19. Jan.2006)
Banthai Beach Resort, Patong Beach, Phuket, Thailand
just stayed here 2 nights:
one of the worst stays i can remember in thailand.
paid 3700 for deluxe pool access room. nothing special at all
in the afternoon yesterday my gf's friends came over tog o swimming and we treated like criminals, security guard following them and me!! after i met them out front and stated they were there to swim. now, some bm's have seen these girls and they dress very nice, and nothing outlandish. not walking around dripping with gold or tattoos
then everytime i went to sign for drinks or anything my whole stay it was like going through a background check!!
and the worst happened this morning. the phone rang at 7am asking if i check out today, i say yes. they then say they come check mini-bar! at 7am! i asked what time it is, reply was 7am and i then screamed my lungs out and hung up on them
needless to say i wouldnt stay with them again
the only thing nice i can say is there are so many hot jap-chinese girls walking around the hotel

Baumanburi, Phuket
Review to my hotel Baumanburi Resort in Patong (12.03 - 04.04.07)
I´ve stayed in Baumanburi Resort for 3 weeks and returned to Germany this wednesday ...
When I searched for Baumanburi Resort in this forum, I didn´t find positive postings and was afraid before I left for Thailand. But I was surprized in a positiv way. First, staff was really nice and much more female staff worked in this hotel, even in the night at reception than mentionend in earlier postings.
My room was in the second floor to the roadside. It was a very clean room with a doublesize bed, which is much better for two people There was also a deposite safe inside the room which is free of charge. I just gave once 200 Baht to the cleaning woman in the beginning of my holidays and got daily 4 towels. The fee for my gf - know her for long - was 500 Baht/night (regular fee) but I soon could reduce to 300 as the found out that I´m not a butterfly. TV and air conditioning system worked fine. Breakfast was really o.k. although I very often prefered to sleep longer and go for brunch with thai food. The pool area is huge, maybe a bit more space for chairs would be great. In the neighbourhood will be build up a new hotel or complex. But I just felt twice bored by the noise of the working machines, at other days I couldn´t even see them. Once I checked out the spa area. I went for the 1 hour oily thai massage with sauna at the end which was 1080 Baht and very relaxing before I picked up my girl to go out. Altogether for me Baumanburi Resort wasn´t a lemon at all. I could imagine to stay there a second time.
Greetings ... Bernie

Hotel B - G
-------------------
Because it looked so nice I made reservations for myself and family here for a stay of 5 nights. (3 rooms, second week of January). I am not used to stay in this kind of hotels in Patong because previously I had my own house here.
At arrival I notice a little sign that the pool was 'out of service' for the first 3 days of our stay. Before checking in I consult the 'public relations' manager, who was loitering around in the lobby, and asked him to confirm, which he did. I expressed politely my dissatisfaction because after travelling to Laos and other parts of LOS we wanted to relax with also using the pool. No word of apology but merely the reply was: "it is only for 3 days". Sorry, 3 out of 5 days is a big deal.....
On to the reception for check in.... Sorry sir, we do not have any reservation on your name and the hotel isa fully booked... WTF!!!!! (Did have e-mail confirmation with reservation #)
Public relation manager thought to be smart and made comments in Thai to the, I think, senior receptionist. Obviously they were not happy with my comments about the pool and mentioned that they wanted to get rid of me. Finally they mentioned that there were still a few rooms available, at a 'special price' of 5000 THB... I politely declined his 'special offer'.
When asking him to assist in finding alternative hotel arrtangements he stated that all hotels in Patong were full and he could do nothing for us....
After this it took me 10 minutes to get alternative reservations at the Patong Deevana. Very happy with this hotel!
Still trying to get a responds from the Baumanburi but no responds so far. No wonder this hotel is offered for sale!!!!!!!
My advise; stay away from it!!!
PS: Living in Thailand for, on and off, 10 year I know the importance of staying polite and friendly, which I did when this situation occured. The staff at Baumanburi was far less courteous. My Thai girlfriend was mostly shocked by the impolitness of the staff and even embarrassed toward my parents that this happened this way in Thailand.

------------------
I have not stayed in it but my friends have used it for a few visits. It is on Ratitit Road opposite the Merlin Hotel. The old wing used to be called Patong Street Inn nd the rooms are large and have big bathrooms.
The new part opened in July 05 and is more upmarket. They have a large pool with jacusis at one end. There is a connecting pool which has a wet pool bar.The cafe does a good standard of food.
When booking my friends in I found the receptionist staff were friendly and helpful. My friends opted to stay on the original wing but could use all the full facilities

Beau Rivage Hotel
On my 2nd trip I stayed at the Beau Rivage Hotel. It's next to the 7/11 on Rat-U-Thit road. Near Hat Patong Road. They charged 800 baht a night. Car was practically in front of my door. No joiner fee. Rooms were clean and airconditioned. Also had a TV and fridge in the room. From what I've heard the rooms were more spacious then C&N or the Expat hotel.
It's about a 15 minute walk. If I was feeling to lazy I took a motorcycle taxi (30 baht) which brought me to Bangla within 5 minutes.
Blue Marine and Spa Resort
personally do not think it is worth the money
its has nice rooms and a couple of nice pools but the service in the poolside restaurant is horrendous
everyday waiting 10 minutes for a cola after ordering gets annoying
also, for some reason, the pool areas seemed so friggin hot to me!!
(Marc26 18.July 2006)
Cape Panwa Hotel
Well the hotel is definitely away from the tourist tack but it's so far away from everything you feel like you've been taken hostage. There are no taxis (they're at the bottom of the hill at the bay hotel) other than the official hotel transportation so it's extortionately priced. Better to take the shuttle bus to the bay hotel and then go to the Aquarium and get a bus there to Phuket town.
Accomodation was ok had a few problems with ants!
Food at the hotel, there's a lot of choices of places to eat, breakfast (incl in price) is good but it's expensive 900baht is more than I want to pay for a mediocre meal. But I ate something dodgy at dinner and I ended up in hospital for a day and a night on a drip.
The beach is pretty small and be careful when going in the sea cos there is a bugger load of coral and my boyfriend cut himself on it. There is a cool underwater path that you can walk on and all the fish come around you, nibbling your bikini strings!
Here are a few pictures! Didn't take that many pictures! Sorry
(Mim 11.October 2006)
CC Bloom's Hotel / Karon
CC is a nice place on a bit off location. But as mentioned they do drive you around to Kata and Karon beach, into town for dinner etc. They even give you a phone to call them when you want to be picked up again (I believe till 11 or 12 pm)
No Joinerfee and even condoms in the minibar. Location is on the hill just off the outside road in Kata (Is actually in Kata and not in Karon. Don't walk back (Hill is really steep) but take tuk tuk ( 100 baht is better then a heart attack)
I believe the monthly rate is abouy 25000 baht, but worth it (including great wireless internet alla round the property including room). The breakfast is bit to simple for what they try to be (boutique style small hotel(
Altogether a great place with friendly people. I actually think in the evening they are willing to bring you to Patong, but not sure about that.
(erik1 10. Jan.2006)
Club Andaman
Club Andaman is a great resort, and not too far from the action. It has a great breakfast, if you can get up in time.
Now the bad news: it is not girl friendly, and if you try and bring back a non-registered guest, they will charge you 2000 baht for the privilege. The way to get round this is to upgrade to one of their lotus bungalows at an extra 800 baht/night, but no joiner fee.
(Coolhand 12. Feb. 2006)
Club Bamboo, Patong
Just returned from a two week stay at Club Bamboo. Jan15- Jan 30. GREAT place to stay. As the web site says: it's set way back on the hill in a bamboo forest. Quiet and peaceful.....but with-in walking distance to Bangla Rd. (if you like to walk). Rooms are good, a little rough around the edges but the friendly staff makes up for it. Club Bamboo is very guest friendly. No problems what-so-ever.
They run a shuttle down to the beach every hour from about 9am to 8pm. the shuttle isn't always on time but they are good about calling him on the walkie-talkie if he's late.
I booked the hotel and flight together trough expedia three months before I arrived. I had no problems at all at check in. They had my reservation and room ready. The girl behind the desk even tried to carry my bag for me (it probably wieghed about as much as she did )
In all great place to stay back away from the madness of down town.

C & N Hotel, Phuket
New info from belfastish here
(belfastish 02. January 2008)
-------------
I stayed at the C & N Hotel from 10. May to the 20. May. Very nice Staff there, its clean, nobody stress and you can do what ever you like, of course Guest Friendly, had a talk with one of my girls.. take the ID of the guest, so no much risk to steal somethings from a BG or FL.. everytime a smile from the staff. (thaizeman 29.05.2006)
------
I stay at C & N Hotel whenever I get to Phuket. It's not luxurious in any sense of the word, but it is clean, comfortable, with Cable TV, Air-con, Balcony (even if the view is into the window of the building next door)!
When I am shown to my room, I always ask that the Mini-Bar Fridge is emptied out, and I sign that nothing has been used. Sometimes, depending who the Porter is, I will get mild protestations, and repeated sentences like 'But is for you'.
I then set the fridge up with my duty-free Vodka, usually a bottle or two of Mekong Whisky, with Coke, and not to forget my ice-cube mould, filled naturally with Bottled water.
Cheers

Deevana Patong Resort & Spa Patong Beach Phuket Thailand
I stayed at Deevana 2 years ago four nights. The motel charged me only 300 baht to bring back a girl. You will need tuk-tuk to get back to motel maybe 100 or 200 baht, I forget. Deevana is a nice place and I dont think you’ll have a problem as long as you are a gentleman. Very nice pool and a good restaurant and reasonably priced. I think if you're looking for peace and quiet yet still close to the action with wireless it's a solid choice…...

Expat Hotel, Patong Beach, Phuket, Thailand
its amazing????????
how some people love a place and some people call it a dump...
i stayed at the expat when is first opened years ago, it was still under construction matter of fact..i know the owner (king klong= hash name)

I have stayed at the Expat dozens of times, good points :
1. Location , is within staggering distance of Bangla and next door to Valhalla and Faulty Towers Bar.
2. Swimming pool and garden , nice to sit outside in the afternoon .
3. 24 hour coffee shop for food and beer.
4. Definitely BG friendly.
5. Safe deposit in reception. Available from 07.00 - 23.00.
6. Security guard on duty at entrance overnight , nice guy who has made sure I got to my room OK when p*ssed.
Rooms are OK and if there is any problems ,just report them and they will try their best to sort things out. I prefer ground floor rooms as you can sit outside and relax, upper rooms may be quieter .
ST66 is staying there at the moment , I think for 2 months.
(Faultytowers 17. Jan.2006)

Yep, I currently stay at Expat, room 308, have booked it for 3 months, 1dec to 22feb.
A VIP fan room is about 1200 baht currently, if you stay long time you can always get a fair discount.
For the price you may find better rooms in Patong, but the location is perfect, only 100 meter from Bangla.
My room have both fan and aircond, but normally I only use the fan.
In my room everything works perfectly, have had no problems, currently there is a little problem generally about the inhouse movies not being broadcasted to all rooms, but I'm sure they fix that soon - and who go to LOL to look TV.
Best of all, no noise late evening, except that I can hear a little bass far away from Galaxy.
All BG have to deposit ID card to the guard outside Expat, so he take care of you, so no BG run away with your things.
And even better, next door is Faulty Towers Inn

Hotels E - K
-----------
I stayed there for 8 days in November and i have not got a bad thing to say about the place, the rooms were clean, the food in the coffee shop was excellent, the staff were fantastic, it is very close to al the nightlife, next door to valhalla and fawlty towers, the only slight improvement i would make is the swimming pool area is too overgrown with plants and trees the sun could barely get through to the pool area it needs cutting back.
(Talbotman 17. Jan.2006)
----------
I stayed there in November and some comments.
1) only cold water in the sink.
2) house keeping forgot my towels 2 times in 10 days
3) no window, so it was like being in a cave. good for day sleeping
4) no table an chairs outside my unit, so I was forced to sit by the pool
5) the water heater in the bathroom kept tripping the breaker, so I was never able to take a warm shower. The hotel said it was fixed, but it never was. Really the sh**s, as when the breaker tripped, all the lights went out too. So, out of the shower with soap in your hair, in the dark, standing on a chair dripping wet, resetting the breaker.
A) nice location
B) great pool
C) nice staff
D) nice price
I don't think I will stay there again, I will try another location.
(Lord Farquard 16. jan.2006)
----------
I think LF was unlucky with the room. The best feature about the Ex Pat is its pool and garden. The rooms are a bit small but were refurbished last year. If you check their web site I think they still are doing special monthly rates. This works out at just over 300 Baht per day.
The quieter rooms are the air con ones on second floor.200 – 230
(Crustasian 16. Jan.2006)
----------
I've had nothing but good experiences at the Expat. It's a down to earth kind of place, which suits me just fine.
If I had problems as mentioned in previous posts though, electric tripping out and such, I would switch hotels. There is not much worse than crappy accommodation for screwing up your trip
(steve@thaib 16. Jan.2006)
Ferb Guesthouse
Have now found the FERB Guest house and are staying our first night. Clean and tidy. Shower not very strong but works well off it's own heater. Aircon is quite even has silent setting for night use) - there is also a fan. Room safe, TV. Bed mattress is firm but not rock. Fridge is well stockedbut pleanty of space for own stuff. Room we have is very large. Internet is via ethernet cable (provided) so those who don't have WiFi can still plug in. The cost is 800Bt which seems great. We looked at at least 10 places at this is certainly the best value we found. The restaurant also looks good and fair priced (110 - 200Bt for a main) and we are giving it a go tonight.
(metter 07. March 2007)

I posting this because I just had a great stay at this guesthouse. Nice little gem of a place. It's run by a Swede by the name of Bernt Ferb who is a great host and absolutely loves his staff. All rooms are nice, clean, have big beds, a strong A/C, cable TV, their own security lockboxes, and balconies. It is also quite GF. I opted for the large room.
Bern is also an ex-chef and has run his own restaurants. His food really is quite good.
It is located right off Nanai Road right near the Fresh Market. Its about a 5 minute walk from Bangla Rd and a 10 Minute walk to the Beach.
If you're looking at a not so expensive stay at a cental location with great food this place is it. Tell him Christian from NYC recommended his place.
(Lucky7 05. December 2006)
-------------
I actually had a look yesterday and must say, very nice rooms. Although I liked the ones with the small balcony best as it had more space (had room for a sofa). It also looked more private. I’m gonna try stay there for one night (600 baht) on Saturday and see how the ADSL holds up.
They quoted me 12.000 per month, but still: Free electric, cable, internet and just a short stroll down to Bangla. Worth a second look IMO.
Oh, I also had a look at the other guesthouses on the same soi, but Ferb was the better one.
(sundancekid 02. August 2006)
---------------------
During my last stay in Patong, the lady I was with, introduced me to a friend of her. This lady was running the Ferb Guesthouse together with her swedish boyfriend. I was there on several occasions, they even invited me twice for dinner. They showed me the rooms, very big rooms, beautiful furnished (In the 1000 Bt range the best i've seen so far). She told me the price in High saison was about 1000 Bt, but i'm not 100 % sure about that. The place is guestfriendly. Because they just opened, there is no restaurant yet but they intend to open one. The bar is fine and well stocked. The Swedish guy and his Thai GF where very friendly and you could easely spend an evening at their bar just drinking and chatting. The guesthouse is located at: 74/19 Nanai Rd.. Tel. 076 296767. Mobile: 09 9412513 (Bernt) . To go there from Bangla Rd. is easy. Just walk trough Soi Sansabai, completely to the end. Then go through the fence and turn right. After 200 m turn left. You now arrived at the street where the guesthouse is located. Approximately 8/9 min walk from Bangla. I heard in the near future they will have a website. I think Nicke can give some info on this one also.

Golden Sand Inn Phuket Hotel on Karon Beach, Phuket, Thailand
I usually stay in Golden Sand Inn when in Karon. Stayed there in February for 800THB/Day which is outstanding for this time of the year. Nice Location with only 2 minutes to the beachchairs. Tuk-Tuk Transfer to Patong Area around 200THB which is a fair price for the distance (around 10 Minutes for the Ride)
No troubles bringing your GF back to the Rooms. Theres usually two or three security guards. Young guys and very friendly and helpful. no worries
(banger chris 08.05.2006)
Graceland Hotel, Phuket
If anyone is interested i have just arrived back in the UK after apending 2 weeks at the Graceland Hotel right on the beach in Patong beach. The price on the internet for a Delux rooom was 4500 Baht.As the hotel is quite new it is usually only about 40% full. i just turned up and managed to do a deal for 2500 Baht a night.
Its a fantastic hotel with 2 great infinity swiming pools, one with a swim up bar, a gym and a superb 10 pin bowling room, which i had to myself most of the time.
3 pool tabels, and if anyone likes snooker your in for a treat 2 tabels in an oak panelled room. The staff are very helpful, Oh and the price includes breakfast.
Hope this may be of help to someone
(Pargy 19. March 2006)
Green Mansion Guesthouse/Hotel Patong
have stayed there twice. It is great for the price IMO, and the location is good, right by the beach. The AC in the room was so good, I needed to turn it off on occasion. The guys who work the tour desk out front are friendly and funny. Just around the corner up towrds the Holiday Inn is a little massage place that had some cute girls, one of whom offered FS for 1K (which I accepted!!).
I would stay there again on my next trip.
(poskat 18. October 2006)
---------
I stayed at the Green Mansion guest house on Soi Wattana, right off Beach Road. In room safe, good shower and hot water, very friendly guys I thought. No fee for guests, in fact if you came in late on your own they want to know why!! (poskat 01.June2006)
Holiday Inn Phuket Resort and Hotel, Thailand - Patong Beach
I stayed there in June, very nice hotel, even the superior rooms are very good (normally you don't get rooms this good at superior level). The Busakorn wing is even nicer.
When I was booking in, this old "large" guy was refused entry with a BG. The staff were having none of it.
(Harsin 17. September 2006)
---------------
Recently booked some friends into the Busakorn wing, they chose the ground floor mini suite room with direct access to the pool, actually the pool almost comes into the room. Nice size rooms good quality, they paid approx 7,000bht per day for the two of them which included breakfast. I personally didn't like the closed in feeling of the Busakorn wing and preferred the main wing overlooking the beach and main pool, however they personally checked it out and like using the busakorn pool for the mornings, fairly private and then went to the main pool to eat in the new beachside restaurant and use the main pool. Food was nice just a little more expensive than us locals pay, say 500bht for most meals, but very good quality.
Personally I would not pay this amount for a room although the location is very good, quality very good, as already said not guest friendly which if you are coming with your partner is preferable anyway.
(Dodger 22. July 2006)
---------------------
its not guest frendly-- although you might be able to bring a friend back for the night but it will cost at least1000bht
its a nice hotel though!
generally ,the posh hotels are not guest frendly--the reason being, they cater for familys and not us mongers

Impiana Phuket Cabana
Impiana Phuket Cabana is not GF. It asks a joiner fee of 1000 Baht or more. If you check in with a lady and you stay with, her there might not be a joiner fee, but if you arrive every night with another lady they might charge you.
No complimentary airport transfer, you pay 800 baht.
I arrive Saturday in the Cabana for the 39th stay, so I should know, staying there since 1991 (no joiner fee then), been there allready 2 times this year.

Jenny Guesthouse
Stayed at Jenny Guesthouse for 3 days last trip , had room at front of building (with balcony) , paid 600 Baht (just before high season came in). Excellent room , good service and pleasant staff , owned by an Italian guy. Definitely GF , safe deposit box in reception , only thing it needs is WiFi.
Would stay there again , reckon you could get a good deal if staying there in low season. Just checked web prices and they are higher than "walk-in" price , probably depends on how busy they are.

Jintana Hotel, Patong
Basic Hotel with a few amenities but price was right for me this trip and it was very quiet location. Restaurant basic but fine and I loved the smile on one of the apprentice chefs. Room was always clean, gave me 2 bottles of water, 2 sets of towels, and 2 beach towels every day so no problems there. No in room safe was a little bit of a hassle but just kept some extra money in my camera case every day in case I needed more cash than I went out with every night(which I did). Front desk staff during the day were great but languauge issues created a few little problems at night.

A short walk to Bangla, nice pool,No JF and guest friendly. Very clean rooms as well. Be sure to ask for a king size bed or you might get a room with twin beds.
This hotel was great value,B1100 per night if booked by the week, great pool, good staff, guest friendly with no joiner fee, quiet, and 8/10mins walk to Bangla. Loads of car parking at front of hotel.

--------------------
Jintana hotel, i found to be very nice, 1400 baht a night and no joiner fee, looks like a nice pool outside but never made it and also had free breakfast which was very nice on the only day i made it, very very camp receptionist who fancies Bacardi73.

K-Hotel
My GF and I stayed there for 8 days last month. I also had trouble with emails, so I phoned them to find out some details. I think the reason that emails are not quickly replied to, is the owner is/was away, and the reception (which is part of the bar in the beergarden) is staffed by Thais who's English is not too good, and they are being taught German. I would highly recommend the hotel. Do not be put off by poor communication. The food in the restaurant was great, and the kitchen is spotless. Rooms are clean and cool, and pool is great. Within 50m of Bangla Road. Only downside, no tea/coffee facility in room. We booked via passionasia for 1st 4 nights, then extended direct to hotel at the same rate. 1200b for deluxe. There were many single males staying, so I guess its girl friendly.
(briofoz 02.07.2006)
--------------------
K-Hotel is under Austrian Management ( very open minded and cool Austrian Owner) and offers a very good breakfast. Deluxe room's are in the main building ( just make sure that you don't end up in the Neptuna Hotel ( they have a sort of overbooking agreement). I'm german so I will forget your remarks about german's (since he is Austrian) .
K-Hotel is a good choice if you are looking for a ''No joiner fee"' In this category a much better hotel to C&N Hotel or all the other guests houses.

i stayed there.
1. wonderfull and friendly staff
2.if you see the location of the hotel you can't understand the peace and quiet
3.price quality is very good
4. great kitchen
5. absolutly girl friendly NO JOINER FEE
6. around the corner of bangla
7.has a nice pool
one of my favorite hotels in patong.

Kaew Kong Mansions
Its opposite Christins and Opposite Lamai Hotel on the corner of a small soi...
I had no option but to stay here, as i had been searching for 2 hours and this seemed the only place!!
B1200 a night for a sh1t hole, it was dirty, the manager/owner was arrogant once he had my money and something i forgot to ask - joiner fee!! Fcuk me! Only B100, but thats not the point... No low budget hotels usually charge a joiner fee.
(Alfi 08. Jan.2006)
----------
I stay there for 2 nights now in january. It's was most crapy place i ever have stayed. Think it's many months since last time some people stayed in the room, it's smells, and it was a lot of stuff laying in the room from the last guest that not had been cleaned up. Dirty bed sheats, same with towels.
The personal had realy bad aditude, a little dog run around in the reception and shit on the floor.
It's not worth the money. Almost embarrassing to bring girls to the room hehe

Kata Poolside, Kata Beach
Deluxe Mountainview accommodations @ 2250 Baht per night. Nice affordable 3 story walk-up boutique hotel. It looks exactly like it does on the website and brochures. It was a long-term residence a year or 2 ago before it was converted to a hotel. The hotel staff is very friendly and attentive. I can't remember a time when I passed by hotel staff and not be greated by a warm friendly smile and good morning or good afternoon. The staff is knowledgeable, communicate in English quite well and really makes you feel welcome. The accomodations about right for a 3 to 4 star hotel. The rooms are decorated in modern Thai style each room has its own couch, safety deposit box and a bathroom that opens up into your room which is nice for watching your girlfriend lathering herself in the bath. As a suggestion ask to be placed in a 2nd or 3rd floor room other wise you'll get a nice view of the wall dividing the property. The view of the mtns itself is okay, however the property next to them is under construction. Despite the construction, we never had a problem with the noise as the room is well insulated. It was actually quite nice looking out of the balcony and smiling and waving hi to the workers. As far as amenities it is pretty basic. They have a nice free form pool with a children's section and a swim up bar built alongside. The swim up bar itself is not being used. That's really my only gripe. It would be nice to sit around the pool bar and be served by a bartender. There is a free breakfast buffet with your accommodation and the food compared to the other hotels I stayed at is quite good. Internet access is also available at 100 baht an hour. They have 4 internet workstations in an air-conditioned little room that sits in a middle of a pond that's filled with carp and lilies and it's a nice private place. I have seen hotels where they have the workstations in the lobbies or near a bar and it hard to get privacy with people around you. The location in Kata beach is quite good. It's central to everything in and is only a walk across the street to the beach. Its right next to the nightlife but you needn't worry about the noise as the nightlife in Kata Beach is much more subdued when compared to Patong. I'm not sure if this place is girlfriendly however and the have a policy of charging you if you stain the sheet's right after you get tattooed. This was never a problem for me. I highly recommend this place and if I ever get back to Phuket this is where I would stay.

Katathani Hotel
i stayed in the Katathani Resort last year in june. I payed about 32.500 for 7 nights for the suite which is very nice. this ressort is quite at the expensive site and most visitors are for a short stay there imho from singapore or HK. Its very good for relaxing and to stay the whole time mostly in the hotel ressort, making spa etc. Its located in the Kata Noi beach, wich is far away from the action. the offered shuttle service is only free to phuket town, to patong you have to pay and sometime there is no tour to it anyway. so i need evertime a taxi which is about 300 bht oneway. They have 8 restaurants, but 4 where closed in that time because of renovation.
The dishes taste very good, but have been disappointed, that you have only two meals for choice in every restaurant, and its every day of the year the same. not a good reputation for hotel in that price catagory imho. but you can chose more from there card, of course for extra money, and expensive. The pool are great and the service and the staff is friendly, only little problem with the manager, who is german. My friend stayed there with his thai wife, in this time she was pregnant, and the staff didn´t helped here anyway when she came back from shopping, also bad imho.
Its not allowed to take someone to your room, absolutly GF unfriendly, only registered guests,so i stayed most nights in an additional hotel, but my baggade had a nice suite. so over all, imo this hotel is not worth the high price. as i remember one of our BM´s has booked now for the Katathani would be interessesting for his opinion!
nevertheless, my best holiday, but not because of the hotel

--------------------
I stayed in the katathani hotel at kata noi bay and would never take again a hotal that far away from the center. spend a lot of money for taxi also. But very nice ressort
I´ve got also upset as the shuttle service promised at there site when booking not really exists. good hotel for relaxing with the family but not for a guy like me, going around like a bus shuttle.
(shark1963 22. Jan. 2006)
komma bar
usually stay at the komma bar ,next door to baan boa resort, soth patong. only a couple of rooms but they are brilliant being just across the road from the sea .the bottom one has its own big balcony.price range is 1000-1400 depending on season.downstairs is a bar/restaurant that never seems to close, good thai food and great cold heiniken on draught served in frosted glasses.

K&N Guesthouse
I promised JP I would give a detailed update on this guesthouse after I returned so here it is.
Firstly, the good points.
Excellent location, about 5mins to Bangla and the beach, in Soi Jintana opposite Royal Paradise Hotel. Easy to find.
Very nice rooms, big beds, clean and normally pretty quiet. There was building work going on whilst I visited, and the 8 30am tile cutting wasn't appreciated, but the hotel cant help that, and its not for much longer I am guessing. The lift is still not in operation, and shows no signs of being completed. Not good if you are above the 2nd floor. Rooms on the GF are best, Nos 102/103/104 right by the pool. Some of the rooms appear very dark with wooden floor and panelled ceiling, but still OK. Rooms 201 301 401 &501 have tiled floors and are much lighter.
A very good clean pool with a good restaurant complete the good points.
Now for the bad
Im afraid I cant recommend prebooking KN for one reason. Their system sucks, and they have no idea what is going on. The German owner and his wife Nid seem to take bookings without informing either, and guests come not knowing if there is a room for them or not.
When we arrived, we were supposed to have 4 adjoining rooms, close to the pool. These were booked last Sept, and confirmed. As written before, Dodger looked in to confirm this booking in Jan, and it wasn't on their system A new booking was made, but we arrived to find we had a room on the 2nd floor. one on the the 3rd and two on the 5th .This wasn't acceptable, and after repeated demands for us to be moved we got on to the 2nd and 3rd floors. Not good enough IMO but there is worse.
Talbotman and his friend asked me to find out what rooms they were getting two days after we checked in. I asked, and was told GF rooms 102 and 14.
In the meantime, the German owner decided to give these rooms to two fellow Germans who cold called so Tom and his friend ended up on the 3rd and 5th floors. Very poor management and totally wrong.
Next, I had been asked to book a room for another BM arriving 14/4 for a week. The owner said he was full, but would definately find him a room there How I don't know??.
Of course, when the BM arrived, the hotel hadn't even heard of the guy, although I gave him full details previously. Again diabolical management!.
Finally, the morning we were due to leave, Nid informed me that I was to pay by cash as their CC machine had been taken away and they were applying for a new one!!! WTF, I carry 87k baht in my wallet on the last day??
OK I'll go to the bank and see if I can get it from my card. No chance, it was a Sunday, and all I could get was 20k max in cash from the ATM.
I still owe the hotel 67k and Im waiting for their email for the account I can transfer this to. All in all, pretty poor show as they forgot to tell me, and I could have got the cash over 5days withdrawals. But its no way to run a business.
One final good thing. They found us a room where we could all have a shower before we left for the airport, which was a nice and appreciated good touch.
Its a pity the bad outweigh the good about KN as I liked the place, but could never trust them to have a room if you prebook. so for that reason alone, I cant recommend KN to anybody unless you are already there and do a walk in.
BTW the rates after 1/4 are a reasonable 1200baht a night.
When I get round to it, I'll add some pics to this thread, of the hotel grounds and pool.
(Dawsey 17. April 2007)
---------------------
Just thot i would give you an update on the K&N
Got Geir to pop in and book 4 rooms for me
Arrived, but they thot i was going to arrive next day - oops!!! so i phoned Geir and let him speak to the lady. She had made a mistake
After much confusion and doubt as to whether they had 4 rooms, things were eventually sorted.
I was put up on the 5th floor (bad move as they obviously dont know the states i get into - they soon did 5555) Its a real bstrd of a walk up there several times a day. But they are in the process of putting a lift in so it will be alot better soon
I have to say the rooms were absolutely fantastic, really huge, more like a studio apt. The decor is high quality and the toilet is huge. You even have a walk in wardrobe
Also the staff are really nice, dont bother you and let you as you please, e.g. pished in the pool at 6am in the morning is normal 5555555555555
Be aware if ur going now or soon there is building work going on there, adding more floors and the exisitng parts are still being worked on, albeit its to the facia so its just cosmetic - but there is alot of noise!!!!!!! also in soi jintana as you enter they are building an apt block so yet again lots of noise, dirt and disruption
Also another point to note, you will get hassle walking to Bangla as you have to walk past the seafood restuarants on Rat-U-Tit, this can get very wearing
All in all (especially once its finnished) this is a top place to stay at a very good price - low season for me in a large room was 800 baht per night
(Geespot 10. September 2006)
-----------------
I RECOMEND THIS PLACE NO PROBLEM
the location is good only an 8 minute stroll along to bangla road plenty of money changers and atms within 2 mins eating places including subway only 1 minute away the rooms are huge the toilet was bigger than most rooms i have had 555555 the staff including the owner were fantastic and for only 700 bhat a night. i was originaly booked to go from april 29 till may 7th i was quoted 800 a night then. only one slight problem if you book contact them again maybe 1 week before you go to remind them that you need a taxi pickup my taxi did not arrive and the airport taxis did not have a clue where the place was and neither did i 5555555 but for someone like you dawsey it would not be a problem as i say the difference in price if any is going to be maybe 100 bhat a night its not a lot but i would book now and specify you want rooms on the ground floor next to the pool although i can tell you on the afternoon caerphilly came round there were 2 thai guys there doing the preplanning to put an alevator in the boss said it was being done next month. the food at the poolside coffee shop was basic but good and cheap just what you want in the daytime .
(Talbotman 15. July 2006)
--------
Top drawer guest house in my opinion, clean, very friendly staff German owner and Thai wife, convenient for Bangla Road, in-room safe, huge main room, huge bathroom and I think if you check Talbotman's current tour thread, he recommends K&N in his first or second post. Only downside is it's popularity which means unless you book a bit in advance (by email or telephone) then it's hard to get a room there.

--------------
Met a guy who stayed there in April and liked it. Went up to his room on the day that he was going to Koh Samui and the room was huge, basic but lots of room, big shower/bathtub, lots of floor space and nice TV in room. Not much in the way of grounds as it is mainly concrete with a small garden but a decent pool next to an open air but covered restaurant and bar.
Place was well taken care of and the owner, who I met, was nice. German guy.
Nicke is right about the 2 buildings, my friend was on the second floor of the smaller wing, nearer the soi.
Talbotman is there on his tour so PM him.
And a bunch of BG's live on that soi.
(Seafox 12.July.2006)
---------------------
I think it is very nice. Talbotman and Tim26Swe stay(ed) there. Guestfriendly, nice and clean althought not luxurious but still nice and good enought in my opinion. Big swimming pool. Good location. Decent rates.
I was there when the guys decided to have a pool party after closing time at MTB.
One building is five floors I think and I guess having a room on 4th or 5th floor is not so nice thought without a lift. Talbotman stayed on the ground floor and had the pool just outside his room. (perfect)
The other building is just two floors if i remember right.

Lawan Residence
I can recommend in the heart of Patong Lawan residence run by our mate Gary Teets, I stayed there from Dec. 07 to 11. Location is within 5 min walking from Bangla, 3 min from beach, in a Soi close to main road, but not noisy. At the corner is the big WATERWORLD shop, good adress for divers, like me.
I had a silent AC room, no window to the street. Room was spacious, clean, free wireless in room. Everyday a free bottle drinking water. There was a set of snacks, toothpaste other stuff, and even condoms (including XXL for me..LOL) in the room on cheap price. The stuff was very helpful, excellent English, well informed (Miss Jane, the manager). The lobby is separate from the guesthouse entrance, Lobby closed at night, girlfriendly, you take your guest through the separate entrance anyway, no need to deposit ID at Lobby.
Thanks Gary, I would always come back to your place.
(fotoloft 29. December 2008)
--------------------
I am staying at the Lawan Residence for the second time after arriving yesterday and just wanted to pass on my opinon of the place. Firstly the location on Soi Diving opposite Christens Massage ( The big Pink Palace ) is great for a newbie in Patong as it is only 2 mins safe walk from Bangla Road which is great especially after a heavy night out with a guest in tow ( no fee ). The rooms are clean, a good size, the air con works well and is quite. The prices start from 500 Baht I payed 750 in low season for a deluxe room going up to 1400 in High season. Gary the owner is a delight to deal with and even arranges taxi's to meet you at the airport which is a godsend for a newbie who doesnt know a Soi from a Sole. The rooms come with a stocked fridge and a nice touch is baskets in each room containing all the little things you may need late at night from packets of chips to some funny rubber products with durex written all over them. Changes that have happened since even my last stay 6 weeks ago - a new Italian cafe with great coffee and high speed computer access for guests including WiFi for people with laptops which I am using now to write this report. All in all highly recommend and worth a stay especially if you are finding it hard to find accomadation in high season.
(GHLamb 12. August 2007)
Le Jardin Bungalows
It is on the southern section of Nanai Road and is French owned. Have used it a few times in the past for parties etc. They have a quiet garden area with plunge pool, jacusi and sauna and also some massage girls
(Crustasian 27.Dec.2005)
Leelavadee Boutique Resort
I chose to stay at Leelawadee Boutique Hotel during my last 3 trips to Patong. The hotel is relatively new or looks relatively new. The rooms are very modern and clean. There are only 30 or so rooms. The staff are very friendly and really take the time to ensure you have a great stay. The restaurant is lovely as well.
The hotel is has a great location. About 15mins walking distance to the southern end of Patong beach and about 5 - 10 min by bike to Bangla. And over the hill by car/bike for 15 - 20 mins to Karon beach.
Their rates are great. I paid 1200 thb in the low season for pool view deluxe high floor room. In the high season, 2200thb for pool view studio. Both have high speed wi-fi access.
Because its is built on the side of a hill, my only issue with the hotel is that it doesnt operate a lift. So it can be quite an exercise to get up to the top floor. Definetily not wheelchair friendly for those that require it.
Last thing....theres no joiner fee.
(DotCom 3. January 2007)
--------------
My preferred hotel at Patong is Leelavadee Boutique Resort . There is explicit no extra charge for ladyjoiner, a very nice small pool and high quality rooms
(Gregor200 26. Jan. 2006)
Lek Pong Guesthouse
there is a great geusthouse that a few other bm's(including myself) would recomend....Lek pong, soi off rat u thit, opposite cristins,so not a bad location(so if your a cristin lover and want to save some dough, great location),5 min to bangla walking, great staff ,clean rooms...400 baht AC low season.no pool though.
(Wylos 21.05.2006)
Mama´s Residence
In the summer of 2005 I also stayed at the Mama's Residence. It's located almost at the end of Soi Sansabai on the left(from Bangla). I don't know if it's guestfriendly because I checked in with a girl. They charged me 600 THB/night for a double room. Room was Ok, quite big, minibar, TV and with a balcony overlooking the Soi. Behind the reception there was a TG, who had completely taken the wrong job. She did'n understand one thing from the hotel business. Very unfriendly, only very basic English and a little bit stupid. The rest of the staf including the owner did'n talk at al to us. When we left, I ask the owner (I think from Austria) how I could contact him if I wanted to make reservations for the next time. He gave me his business card. A few month later back home I tried to contact him, but he never answered. So for me no next time in Mama's Residence.
(Raval 13. March 2006)
Montana Grand Phuket
I stayed there last year and paid 700 Baht / night low season. I think this hotel was intended for greater things but fell on hard times and lowered its standards and prices to stay in business, but…they were very girl unfriendly with a 500 Baht joiner charge. After a week of this I got so pissed off with this that I politely complained and checked out early so they added 1500 Baht for three girls that had visited my room for an hour at about 2 that afternoon, these were the previous nights BG and her two friends wanting to know if I wanted to go shopping. Long story short I did not pay the afternoon joiner fees and moved out
(JohnP 02. March 2006)
Neptuna Hotel, Patong Beach
After just returning from LOS thought Id add 1 more hotel to the list..After arriving in LOS not booking accomodation I stayed the first few nights at a couple of guest houses and eventually settled in at Neptuna Hotel..first time I have stayed there not to bad .
good points ....
Cheap 800bht per night low season you can double that at high..
Definetly guest friendly
Great location 200mts from Bangla ,across the road from CN and down about 50mtrs
Has a pool
I was surprised how large the rooms were
kingsize bed (all be it two doubles pushed together )
24 hr security (luckily wich I had to call upon once ,but thats another story that ive wiped out of my mind)
Big double opening doors on to balcony.
not a bad hotel for what you pay
downside...
A bit noisy at night ,or so I was told ,sides on to a few bars, no great prob anyway as I was getting back at closing
No room service ,well not when we were there anway.
Pool is a bit shady out of the sun.
Every morning I woke up to some hairy backed 60yr old overweight Italain streched out on a sun lounge by the pool trying to tan his butt crack....
No in room safe, boxes at reception
The hotel is a bit aged but every thing worked the way it was suppose to.
all and all good value...
(floppy 26.05.2006)
---------------
Thats right. i stayed there for my last 2 trips.. even got the same room
perfect distance to everywhere. atm machine just 10 meters from the reception where the safeboxes are so you dont have to run around with your cards. and seven eleven is close also. a walk to bangla is via the shortcut behind tiger done in 2-3 min .. now there is a internet cafe close there also.
Beds are huge and good and they clean up fine.. the downside might be the toilets.. with that heating unit to the shower.. mine has not broken down yet there but my friend had one that did not work but they changed it right away to him.. the toilets arent small but there is no bathtub..
The best located rooms would be 110-114 as they are infront of the small pool.. in the garden. great to have a swim in the afternoon or with your lady after coming home from the party I paid 600bht a day in low season and 1500bht peak season but it was for a 4 week stay and a 3 week stay.
Great staff.. feels like coming home
(Tim26swe 13. Feb. 2006)
------------
Denver, I stayed at Neptuna Hotel Oct'05 and found it very pleasant. Very close to some great seafood restaurants, new beer bar soi next door ( don't know the name) and within walking distance to Bangla Rd. The music from the disco next door had me bangin' my BG in time with the beat but you may never actually see it open with the agenda you seem to have. Guest friendly, reasonable value (about 1000Bt/night in low season) and very friendly staff. Rooms are bungalow style with a huge bed. It's interesting to watch the girls going to the Western Union across the road pick up their "pensions" whilst having breakfast.

Hotels P
Nine Ten Mansion, Phuket Patong
We found Nine Ten Mansion which looked great. The rooms have wood panelling and tiled floors. The price was 1000Bt a night with free WiFi access. The the bad stuff started:
The mattress was as hard as rock - so bad we hardly slept and I woke with a sore back.
The room smelt of toilet drain and became quite offensive (especially as we had not used the toilet).
The Aircon was loud and the temp setting did not work very well.
The WiFi needed to have the DNS settings entered on the computer and the staff did not know this so asked the computer shop next door - he had obvoiusly been asked to sort this out before because he knew the settings by memory - no problems, nice chap, Next day hotel tried to charge me 100Bt for his service (cheap but not my problem). After 2 nights we left.

Orchid Guesthouse Phuket Patong Beach
Since i stayd there 13 days i would to give my comment on this hotel
It started with that i changed my travel plans and Bill att summer Breeze dident have any room before the 23 and i was <coming to Patong on the 10.
So I did pm IJ who stayd there and he did comfirm that the hotel had my booking for Superior room from the 10.
Arrived at the airport and my limo from hotel was waiting for me.so far so good.
When i arrived at the hotell it showed up that al rooms at the main hotell was
taken and i had to move to another building (same as Patong International)
Tell them that wasent the deal and i dident like it,answer i get was they would give me a deluxe room for the same price and sorrry.
When i had to carry my lugagge on my own to the other building and up 4 floors,no elevator i was a little irritated and was thinking of checking out prompte.
The room was big with a 37 inc Telly with DVD player, clean but quite ordinary.
Remember i was thinking is this a deluxe room?
But thing changed, when i was living there i never saw any other customers in that building, very quiet, and they had a girl watching the main door at night times,no hasseling just smiling and checking id,s
This must be the most peaceful room i ever had so far,so i start to like it.
Was in a way very private and only 50 meters over to Bills place for a breakfast or some refreshments and a chat.
When i checked out at the 23 and move over to Summer Breeze i felt sorry
for the girl at the desk, she was in a way little huffy because i was moving out
and over to a hotel across the street.
Tok my time to explane that this was a agreement long time back and i was
very satisfied with my stay there ,and would be back some time.
She was happy with that explanation and smile was back on her face.
Did pay 17 000 Bath for 13 days from 10 to 23/11.incl minibar
I will recomend this hotel to al the BM and the location is unbeatable
with al the walking range, and the night food in Soi Sansabai.
And yes IJ free porn,hehe

Orchid Residence, Patong
Stayed at Hotel Orchid Residence in Soi Sansabai. No formal booking system to stay here. I just emailed Peter (the manager) with my arrival and departure dates. No deposit required beforehand either. I paid for my room in cash, in full, on the morning of my departure. Photocopy of passport is taken as security.
Chose a deluxe room for 1680THB per night. The room was a good size and was well furnished. Queen size bed, very good air-con system, and an excellent fan above the bed if you prefer to sleep without air-con filling up your nasal passages. Sufficient storage space, a small fridge (fully stocked), television, and all the other things you expect from a hotel in this price-range. My room had a nice balcony with a couple of chairs – gave a nice view down Bangla Rd and across to northern Patong and the hills. The bathroom was on the small size, and prone to flooding on some occasions. Water pressure in the shower was down to a trickle on some nights – especially around 7pm. I guess everyone was showering at that time? The quality of linen and towels seemed to vary a lot from day to day.
The hotel is very girl-friendly. They will ask your girl for her ID card, and return it to her the next morning. Breakfast is not included in the tariff, but is available from downstairs at a competitive price. There is an internet terminal in the bar area on the ground floor. Works very well, but you can find cheaper internet elsewhere. The bar/reception area on the ground floor is smaller than Summer Breeze, and seemed to lack some of the atmosphere of its neighbour. Mini-bar prices in the hotel room are okay, though I never needed to use it.
Never got to meet Peter (the manager) despite a lot of email exchanges beforehand. The rest of the staff were okay. The cleaning staff seemed to be the friendliest. They would ask me each morning “You have girl in there?” with a smile as I left the room. Front reception staff did their job – one was especially nice - without making me feel like I was 100% at home. Overall, that summed up my experience there. Nice place to stay, but never felt 100% ‘right’ there. Hard to describe it - its a gut feel. A bit of a ‘German clique’ seemed to be the norm when I was there.

----------
Two times I stayed at the Orchid Residence (not the same as Orchid Guesthouse).
I found it a clean and well run business, located in Soi Sansabai so very close to Bangla Rd. The place is girl friendly, they serve a very good breakfast and the rooms are quite large. They also serve lunch and dinner, but I have no experience with that. When you go there it's possible they bring you to the other side of the street to Hotel Swiss Garden. It's the same company and management and also very good. Some rooms have balcony. I found the staff (mostly thai girls) took a little bit a distance from the customers, but that's my opinion. Their price range from 580 Bt for a standard room in low saison to 1680 Bt for a deluxe room in High saison. For a swim in the neighbourhood(1min) you can go around the corner at the end of Soi Sansabai, there is a very nice public pool (Baan Benjamin I belief)
It's best to make reservations because the place is quite popular.

Pacific Club, Karon Beach
I stayed there over Christmas and New Years. It was a great hotel and the food and spa were great. It was guest friendly as far as I could tell. By the time I rolled in late at night, there was nobody at the desk, but I dont think they care what you do. In fact they have some very stratigically placed mirrors so they know whats up. It has an American owner, and this guy was great. More than happy to help with any requests.
Like the other posters said, there is some construction going on, which takes away from it a bit.
I think it was about 200-400 baht for a tuk-tuk to Patong, not bad at all.
A few good restraunts in Karon, Nice beach, not nearly as crowded as Patong Beach.
I would be staying there again this March if it were not for the construction. I will be staying at the Blue Marine in Patong this time.

Can't say I was that impressed with Karon itself (nice beach but very little else) but the Pacific Club is great. Spacious well-appointed rooms, a fantastic restaurant and a really nice roof-top pool area with a view over Karon bay. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the wifi speed was certainly one of the best I've had in Thailand. The bathroom had a decent sized tub for LOS and the shower was big enough for 2, which is always a bonus.
There's a lot of building work going on in front of the hotel at the moment and so if you stay on the 1st or 2nd floors then you won't have much of a view. I was on the 3rd floor and still had a pretty good sea view and if you were on the 4th floor then the view would be totally unobstructed. The rooms are well soundproofed so the noise of the construction work wasn't an issue unless you were sitting on the balcony and I didn't notice it as a problem when lounging by the pool.
If you're looking for somewhere quiet to relax then you won't go far wrong with the Pacific Club. I can't comment as to how guest friendly they are as I was with my girlfriend and although she puts up with my butterflying I didn't see a single girl in the bars of Karon that tempted me. Often there was nobody at reception when I returned to the hotel though so I wouldn't have thought it would be a problem to bring back multiple guests.
Can't help with recommendation for bars or restaurants in Karon (other than the hotel restaurant) as I wasn't really taken by any of them, but it was my first visit and I'm sure there are plenty of more experienced BMs that can tell you of all the great places I missed. I didn't take any tuk-tuks within Karon as my girlfriend refused to let me pay the mafia prices (they wanted 150 THB to go from the centre of Karon to the hotel) but a tuk-tuk to Patong was 250.

Heh im there just now also! Floor 3...
It is a nice place, although this morning the builders woke me for a bit, although its not that bad, no big machine tools just odd bit of hammering I hear...Due to the hill out front and it being unpaved as yet however its a bit of a nightmare with the chair (not even contemplated my folks trying to push me up that hill, almost killed them walking up there in the heat).
My opinion of the place basically mirrors Wests, including that of Karon...im afraid to say Karon isnt where I will be staying again.
So, were renting a car today to go scout about and look for someplace new...still gonna stay here for a week though probably.

Patong Bay Garden Resort, Phuket
Patong Bay Garden Resort was GF when I stayed there last year..but you need to book for two people.....asking about their policy for having a guest stay with you overnight is a good idea...and if they are fine with it keep the email with you.......good price you wee offered BTW..........if you can afford it stay in one of the rooms on beachsied rather than on Beach RD side.much quiter and closer to the pool/beach

Posted a pic of a junior suite in Patong Bay Garden before, here it is again. Own pics with golfbag in the corner.
Only negative about the hotel is food. Breakfast is not famous
Two biggest junior suites are 3207 and the one opposite of the swimming pool as they are at the end of the corridor so you win the surface of the corridor in those rooms. Don't go for the 2 which look out to the sea and the short side of the pool above the main entrance (roadside). Those are old rooms, shitty bathroom full of mosquitos (there is a fanhole in the wall and you can not close that) and the roomarrangement is bad.

Patong Grand Ville, Patong
This is a great place. Managed by Thai, has a big pool in front of the bungalows and airco. I've been there three times and I just loved it. There is at nighttime a guard and all rooms have a safety box, kabeltv and fridge.
Some -facts
You need a motorbike to go in Patong because it's 20 minutes walking to Patong center.
Owned by Thai, so be careful you make good appointments with the owners about the price and service.
The restaurant is shit and expensive so you don't need the breakfast.
Some +facts
Payed 12000 Bath for a month (cheap)
There will be no fine if you bring someone for the night.
Really great swimmingpool (with lights in the water) andif you're not to noise you can even use it at night.
If you arrive you can remove the drinks from the fridge and put your own drinks inside.
The staff is nice and safe.
You also can rent a motorbike for 3000 baht a month there.
Girls love staying there, you feel like middle in the jungle there with all the noises from animals.
Hope this is something for you.

Hi mate, my group of 7 guys stayed at the Patong Merlin Hotel.
We had one mate who is a hard core Rock Ape that decided he must exercise and couldn't stop for 10 days.
Positives - Great Hotel, Fantastic Food, Gym/Excercise Room, the HUGH numerous pools ARE open all night to those that decide the guards could do with a small tip.
Negatives - Not the cheapest hotel, 800b joiner fee, 10+ min walk (sober) to Bangla (tuk tuk ride home) More of a family/couples hotel but we liked the quality, facilities and the POOLS.
Enjoy your holiday its a great place

Patong Resort
Just come back from an 8-day stay @ the Patong Resort, located next to the Patong Tower.
Good sized rooms and bathrooms and relatively clean and tidy hotel all-round. Friendly staff (especially around the pool/sports bar and cleaners), was always greeted with a smile and any issues were sorted A.S.A.P. All the facilities you require, good sized pool and sun lounges. Included breakfast is on the average side as are most hotels.
Location is brilliant, with access to beach, bangla and Rath-u-Thit Roads from either entrances. Within 2min walk to 7/11, Pharmacy, Massage and small markets. During June there were mixed ages of people staying there, but mostly couples in their 50's. Services charges are reasonable, but look for things such as safe deposit box charges (50baht/day).
Joiner fees. If you want to bring back a local Thai girl, you will be stung 700baht, and the security guards can be a bit rude to your guest. Once inside the lobby though its all smiles from the service counter. Friends of mine brought back farang lady guests most nights and were not charged a single fee nor asked whether they were staying at the hotel.
Would recommend for families, couples - but not single gents looking for a bit of late-night fun.

Patong Villa
We have stayed at the PV a few times and have stayed in all room types. This last stay we booked the pool side bungalows which cost us 1800bht a night during May. But the room themselves all look a like. What we like is that with the pool side rooms its only about 4 steps from the fridge in your room to the pool side so its easy to keep the liquids up. I agree that you dont need to book as the 3 weeks we were there there were only at about 20% capacity, if that.
The staff are always friendly even the young thai men.
The shop sellers can drive you mad as they never give up trying to get you to buy a shirt, suit or t-shirt. That said the suit guy on beach road does do a good deal but the t-shirt sellers are all over priced compared to other stalls on Beach Road.
We also reckon for the little extra you pay compared to like hotels, we save on tuk tuks as the PV is so close to everything.
WE also find it BG friendly as although we are a couple we on occassion would bring a friend back for the night and the staff never ever say anything or even look at you funny the next day. For that alone we always recommend the PV to others.
(prestagea 15. June 2006)
-----------
First thing is the wireless is not free, actually quite far from it at 150 baht an hour, which is rather expensive compared to across the road at 60b an hour.
I have only stayed in the bungalow room, which was 2200b at songkran time, i personally did not think it was really worth it as there are other hotels with better rooms for cheaper.
I also can not see any difference in the superior and delux rooms from the website, the standard rooms are currently on Last minute Hotel Bookings in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore & Bali at 800b a night, whereas the website is quoting 950 for the same room, perhaps mail them and ask for a special rate on superior/delux/bungalow, the bungalow is now at 1350b, which is not too bad.
The hotel is nice and the only problem is the street to get there being full of tailors and others trying to sell you stuff, the pool is very good though.
Last thing is i reckon you have no need to book at all, i just turned up at songkran which is an even busier time and got a room no problem, there were still a lot of empty rooms during my stay.
enjoy your stay

The Patong Villa is a fair good place to stay and I think the room rate is at Patong basic. If you take the great location, the large rooms and a really "guest friendly" staff in mind the room rates is not too expensive.
The only problem I have upon my stay there was when I checked out. The bill was ok but the reception staff want me to pay in cash and where not willing to take my payment in creditcards so after a long argue I went to the nearest ATM and took some fast cash to pay with.
The vendor problems can be solved if you buy a few items the first day of your stay, then they will not bother you again. Every body has to make a living, so can you afford a tour to Patong, you can also use 200 bath to buy a T-shirt or something similar. Then everybody is happy...
I have two girls with me in the room every night/day and nobody said a word to us. The travel counter was changing my Thai air ticket two times for me without any form for payment at all.
So on my next "alone" stay I will sure stay at Patong Villa again. But am I travelling with my girlfriend I think I will move a class up.
(Kloymaie 26.04.2006)
-------------
Well i have just checked out of the patong villa and thought i would share my opinion of the place,
Location is perfect but i am so lazy that i sometimes did not even want to walk the couple of hundred yards to reach bangla
Price was a bit too much i reckon for the standard of the room, i payed 38,400 for my 19 nights in the bungalow, whereas i could have found a room of equal or better quality for around the 1K per night mark, but the big swing is in the pool, nice and clean, 6 steps from the bedroom door.
Staff, i had no problems whatsoever with the staff in the hotel, all were nice and friendly, even though i went in there thinking they were going to be bad before i had even met them(due to some comments on this board)
Overall a nice hotel, no problems as have been stated previously on the board, no hassels but just slightly on the pricey side when compared to other hotels available.
I would consider it again but will not be at the top of my list.
(S1MON 23.04.2006)

Just left Patong Villa after a second stay there in 3 years.
Patong Villa has copped a lot of bad flak on this forum from various people so I thought I'd give my opinion of the place as I see it.
First off,for those who don't know it,the location on the Beach Rd is perfect but for one thing. The stall owners in the small soi leading from the street to reception. They won't take no for an answer, and get very pushy for you to buy stuff. The tailor at the end gave up when I didn't bother to reply but not the t shirt sellers. This is one problem I have found.
The hotel itself is very good. Nice large rooms, the bungalows I think are are overpriced at 2200baht over Songkran, but thats only my opinion. The deluxe and superior rooms at 1750baht represent far better value. The "Sweet Suite" is priced ay 2500baht and sleeps 3. I stayed there with the wife and daughter and it was very nice, and cheaper than two rooms for a family. It has the same facilities as the other rooms with the addition of a kettle and tea/coffee. The price I paid included a complementary breakfast, but it was only tea/coffee/juice/fruit and toast/butter/jam. If you wanted anything else you paid for it.
The internet facility may seem good, but for 150baht an hour its very expensive, and if you want to hook up to their wi-fi with your own laptop it still costs 150b an hr Not worth it.
Its quiet, and has a nice pool and for those reasons I would recommend it at the current price.

Ok I'll add my twopence worth here on PV rather than add to the old thread as I had said I would do..........
First off let me say that this was about my 6th visit to PV and I have never really found fault before...................sure it's not a 5 star but it doesn't pretend to be.......it's a relaxed place and you don't get bothered here........reports to the contrary is what I have found bewildering about previous threads on the place.....
On arrival everything was just how it has always been.........big smiles and greetings allround from the staff in reception and the maids cannot do enough as usual......more water Mr Nelson?.....more towels?.........I must add here that I do tip but no more than 20Bht at a time.....and I sure do get good service
Moved into my bungalow and all was the same except the phones in the rooms were not working for both of my stays.........the girls couldn't give me a proper answer on this so I am thinking that this may be permanent from now on............no problem for me as I always use my mobile..
I really like the size + quiet of the bungalow rooms.........
No problems with bills, mini bars etc.......all smooth sailing...
I had a special returning rate from them for a bungalow at considerably less than the web price of BHT2200.........more like a standard room rate and I never take the breakfast option..............don't eat it
Overall no real negatives..............
my advice on how to achieve a geat stay here......smile.........it doesn't cost anything............and if you want a little extra........tip a bit........you will pretty much always get what you want
What is truly great here is the company of my fellow BM's around the pool in the late afternoon/early evenning........to all of you thanks for the company.....the conversation and craick..........this is priceless!!!!!!

Premier Resort, Patong
hi just emailed this hotel and they are charging 300 baht if you bring a lady friend back to your room, we have double rooms each aswel thought might of been ok never mind just thought you can update the post
------------------
I guys i would like to mention another good place to stay its called:
Phuket Premier Resort its a 10min walk from Bangla Rd and across the road from a Bank! foot path retaurants right outside, the rooms are wonderful with A/C / mini bar / sep bathroom with bath and Shower and in room safe etc. serviced daily and when you book if you state No Joiner fee its free and no problem.
Has a pool and steam room with Sauna and Bar and restuarant, stayed there last year and will be there again this Tuesday! can't wait...
(chopperman 12.May 2006)
Prince Edouard
i have stayed at prince Edouard before but only for 9 night so maybe they didnt charge us any money for electricity.
For those additional money you could have enjoy more BG.
So aside from those cut-throat eletrical bills, i shall review about their staff and service etc
Location - extremely high up the mountain.no car no bike...dont even think about renting this apartment.even tuk tuk are reluctent to drive you up.my friend encountered it.
The good thing about living so up is that it is sooooo quiet in the morning and the paranomal view of the whole of phuket patong area is amazing.night time will be even better.
service - excellent i would say.i was there during my songkran 2006.we were invited to their party.drinking JW mix, we brought down our chivas but thai find it too strong.dancing, free flow of food, singing, getting drunk, smoke the dragon, throwing each other into the pool etc.just let go and have fun.
One of the most craziest staffs i have ever encountered.very friendly towards guest.really enjoyed the night.
other than this, normal cleaning of the apartment are done every morning.clean and green.
ABF - not really good.i would rather spend 100 bath, drive down to the streets have a local breakfast and a beer. they serve bad breakfast.edible but not really good.
items include bread with jam and butter...coffee or tea....2 ham 2 eggs 2 bacon and fruits.
Price - very expensive indeed.i find it still ok as the view and staff are really doing a good job and YES it is girl friendly place.
(rapala fisher 20.July 2006)
Ramburin
The Ramaburin resort is very nice. Delux rooms are best (c.THB1800 last we were there, I seem to remember). Safety depo boxes are at reception which is manned 24/7 and they have their own security guard at night. Lovely pool with bar too. Close to beach (3 mins) and c.10 mins walk from Bangla Rd so quite quiet. GF no prob or chg.
(bigalsouth 05. Jan.2006)
Rico´s Hotel
Stayed a couple of nights at Rico’s Hotel in May. As best I can tell it was formally the Holidays Hotel. It is located just down Soi Bangla Square from Rico’s restaurant. The place looked to be newly renovated. Everything looked nice and new. I had one of the smaller rooms but there was plenty of space. Large bed, safety box, some view to the south (I was on the 3rd floor) and quiet. There is a separate shower stall in the bathroom but it is very small. It would be difficult for more than one person to shower at once. The bed was comfortable and not hard as a rock (I spent a few nights at C&N where the beds are very hard IMO). They advertise WiFi but my laptop would not get a signal on the third floor. No problem down in the air conditioned lobby where there are lot of places to sit and use a laptop. They don’t charge a joiner fee (or didn’t at that time) for a female guest. I didn’t ask about more than one guest. But a couple of Emails got a fairly quick response to such questions back in April. BTW the entrance to Soi Bangla Square is only visible to a few bars on Bangla Road. So not every BG in town will see where you are going when taking a date home :-)
(RockyMtnJay 19. November 2007)
Royal Paradise
if you go with family i can also recommend royal paradise hotel.
it's not guest friendly, think they charge 700 baht or so, so maybe better for you and your kids :-)
i stayed there with lady 2 times. the rooms are very good. it's 4 star.
nice pool, central location but not on the beach. floor to ceiling windows, nice. can go on the big balcony at night and enjoy the view or whatever ;-)
try to get corner room, bigger.
royal paradise is high rise so if you don't like that maybe other hotel better
but i found it very good value.
rates on directrooms.com for april only 1200 baht...
(Dr.M. 03. February 2007)
--------------
Just came back, thought it might be nice to do a review on this for the benefit of all others in future.
Royal paradise is the tallest hotel in patong that offers an excellent view for the whole of patong. From my view on the 17th floor, i can see the whole of patong beach, including the sea where i can see people paragliding, speedboats and even singapore's luxurious cruise Superstar Virgo parked in the sea.
Rooms are spacious and clean and towers are clean as well. Receptionists are friendly and speaks good english and they have a very nice lobby area with a nice pool for swimming. Breakfast spread is fantastic and basically its very well worth every cent you are paying for.
It is also located just 3 mins walk away from Bangla Road, where all the heart of the action is. Overall its an excellent place to stay for family goers with their clean and big rooms, good service and excellent location
(saigonblack 07. Feb.2006)
-------------------
I stayed there for a week last September. Although it is close to the gay soi I didnt really have that much of a problem. You can go down the other road to get out of the hotel and therefore you bypass the gay soi. Actually closer to bangla road that way. The rooms are OK, great view of phuket, staff good and friendly and there are loads of Japanese tourists there so you may hook up on a little holiday romance there also.
(Ashley 16.Jan.2006)
----------
I had the privilege of staying at the highest level during one of my trip and the view is great. You can see the entire of patong.
The have a great swimming pool and have a good spread for breakfast.
The room is spacious and clean and the staffs are friendly.
I would recommend it to any BM, the only problem is the price is slightly higher then some other hotel approx. 2700THB for with twin sharing superior room.
I have no problems with the gay boys. There are many ways leading to the hotel and you can even avoid those that the rent boys hang out.
Infact, i hardly see any
If you take a good look at the hotel from the main road, you will notice that its slightly tilted to oneside. Any BM notice this??
(mal140 16.Jan.2006)
Royal Phawadee
stayed there in june. It is a very friendly hotel, also no joiner fee. The food from the french restaurant was nice and plenty. In the evening the regular meals are a bit expensive in my opinion.
I booked the deluxe room at the end of the garden.
It was noisy, because of the construction of a new building near the pool (20 meter). Laundry is very quick. The roomgirls do there job, if you have a "please do not disturb" at the door or not. On the right side of my room was a big rubbish dump.
The room was from first appearance okay, big bed, electric kattle with tee or coffee every day renewed, also free water. After a few days i noticed a mouldiness smell. I found out, that behind my golfbag there was a 30*30 cm place with mould on the wall, also in the bathroom.
I noticed late, because the roomservice always sprayed after cleaning an orange perfumed room spray, with a heavy oily smell.
So they know.
I talked with the reception, they make an offer to change to the normal rooms, that are at the street side or to upgrade to a bungalow.
I payed in advance and couldn`t leave and the offered room was to noisy so i stayed at the place.
Of course i could have make trouble, but i was on holiday and patong was so nice so i was not in the mood to fight it out.
The phawadee is a nice place, but i payed 2300 Bath for the room and i think with the mouldiness in the room and the heavy construction of the new building beside the pool it was not worth its price.

Safari Beach Hotel, Phuket
I stayed at the Safari Beach hotel which is behind the Savoey restaurant on the Beach Road. I have stayed there several times and have always had a pleasurable experience. I prefer a smaller, reasonably priced hotel with a friendly, attentive staff and the Safari Beach Hotel meets those preferences. The hotel offers a nice variety of room types from Contemporary room and Deluxe rooms, with balcony overlooking the gardens and pool to Deluxe, Junior Suite and Ocean View rooms above their Concaved restaurant on the beach side of the road. I have stayed in most room types over the years (Junior Suite - beach side this time). The Contemporary rooms I am not too crazy about but the Deluxe and Junior Suites are very nice. I have not had the pleasure of staying in the Ocean View rooms yet…
The prices at the Safari Beach during “low” season are not as deeply discounted as some of the properties in town, definitely not the 50% discount offered at some hotels. I paid bht2900 for the Junior Suite on the beach side which I thought was reasonable but was no “low” season bargain. I was in holiday mood and I like the hotel’s location, staff, accommodations and pool. The beach side rooms are also covered by WiFi. Bht2900, fair enough… I could have gotten a Contemporary room for bht1200 but declined.

I can too recommend it. I've stayed there two times, in April and again two weeks in July. My main reason for selecting it was it's free WIFI network.
When I was there in April, I stayed in one of their better rooms. Newly renovated, nice DVD player and TV. It was very good except the bed, it was very very hard, but I hear this the same anywhere in Thailand!
When I was there in July, I stayed in one of their normal rooms. Although it was very clean and in very good condition, then it wasn't quite as good. But still very good to what I've seen elsewhere.
It's girlfriend friendly, they just require the girls ID card (which is good for your safety). Their whole reception is very good and helpfull. When my reservations on my last trip was all messed up (different dates for departure from hotel, ticket hkk-bkk and bkk-cph) then they handled it very good for me. You can pay for late checkout, which I did as my plane didn't leave Phuket until 10pm. Very nice to have a room the whole day of departure, it really made it possible to use the last day as a normal day.
When I go back I would certainly consider staying there again. But I think I would also check-out some of the other hotels in the same class, but maybe 300-400 further away from the beach, as I think I could save maybe 400-500 bath per day, as SBH is not very cheap. I say that SBH (Safari Beach Hotel) is not very cheap, compared to other hotels in Patong. In Peak Season their rates are between 3250 and 7500 per day.

Salathai Resort
enjoyed salathai quite a bit when i was there last oct. excellent service, nice pool and jacuzzi, very close to the beach, gf and an easy walk to bangla. very mixed tourist crowd. I also noticed several male couples but none of my business at all. Salathai massages are more expensive than down the street but nevertheless a good massage. I used their internet for a couple quick e-mails but usually went to a place around the corner that had serious a/c.
(jimbulljag 01.March 2006)
------
Salathai Resort stayed here 3 times so far great hotel GF and reasonably close to Bangla I would recommend this in the mid range hotels.
Excellent restaurant available only steps from your room also a smallish pool which is more than adequate all the staff are very professional.
All in all a good place to stay without breaking the bank, go for the deluxe room poolside
(river 23. Jan. 2006)
Sea, Sun, Sand Resort
I stayed at SSS resort last trip. I told them I'd pay 3 nites in advance if they waived the joiner fee - they did. Room was nice and they have a pool too. AND its only a few steps to Christin's if you are so inclined
(Freddy 18. October 2006)
-------------------
SSS is my favourite hotel in phuket at the moment. Get a ground floor room that lets straight out onto the pool area, order good food from room service, get your beer, cheap, from the 7/11 down the road and let the good times roll!!!
Also if you book the room for 2 people (second person TBA!!!) you should not have to pay a joiner fee! I never have during 3 stays.
The staff have been known to be rather brusque to some people, but I treat them politely and get the same in return. (some pics from visa2003)
(Visa2003 19. October 2006)
----------------------
never payed joiner fee, when i stayed there as a monger.
i have stayed there on a few occaisions, staff always polite if you and your guest are polite.
room prices, i always negotiate without the breakfast cost.
pool is good, hotel guests are a mixture of euro familys, and mongers and long term thai/farang couples.
there is a "mini high season" around early august of people from a certain region at this time, not too much hassle to me, but i dont like their attitude in the main to the thai staff.
in fact the thai staff treat return customers very well.
easy walk to bangla, and close to other resturants.
close to the beach just down soi kebsup.

Seven Sea House
Like Goong, I have stayed at the Seven Sea House a few times, and I have absolutely no problem with it.
On both my previous visits it was a mostly wooden constructed building with 10 very large rooms, all with a balcony. It didn't have a pool when I was there, and (apparently) the owner had arrangements with the adjacent Novotel so that guests could use their pool (I never found out about this until I was coming home! ... long story). However, as the hotel is about 1 minute from the beach (maybe less, as it's slightly downhill), the lack of a pool was never a problem for me. This part of the beach is generally considered to be a bit quieter than the central and southern sections.
It is located at the very northern end of the beach, just behind the Novotel. There does not appear to be any signs indictaing where the hotel/guesthouse is located, and I don't see it marked on any maps, so it is easier to ask the taxi/tuk-tuk drivers for the Novotel. When you get to the entrance to the Novotel (which is up a steep slope) there is a small Soi just to the right, and the hotel is just up there.
The hotel is far enough away from the main road so that you cannot hear traffic noise, and it is far enough away from Soi Bangla and associated mayhem that it very peaceful and tranquil. One BG on my last trip said that it was so quiet that she wanted to stay the night, so a ST became a LT at no extra cost!
The walk down to Soi Bangla is about 20 minutes, so just enough time to build up a slight thirst. About halfway along, if you're feeling hungry or thirsty, or need some retail therapy, then there is Rock City and some designer shops. On the beach side of the road there is a pathway through some gardens, so the walk is quite pleasant.
The trip back from the Soi Bangla/Beach Rd junction is about 3 minutes and costs about 100Bht.
I felt very safe there on my two visits. The rooms had a small safe, and I never saw any trouble when I was there. I think that is a feature of it being so out of the way.
(GMT 26. January 2008)
-------------------------
Sevenseas house has been my number one choice for accomodation for a couple of years now. Tuk, the owner, is a wonderful person and runs a top notch guesthouse.
The guest house is brand new and just opened in December. The original guest house of the same name and on the same site was demolished in May last year to make way for the new one.
I stayed there for 12 days over Christmas and the New Year and although it had only just opened, everything ran smoothly.
The pool is only small as suggested by others but plenty big enough to cool off and the beach is only 100m away.
The rooms are a good size and well appointed and i can assure you that cleanliness is not a problem. Even with the old guesthouse, it was always spotless.
I don't find the location to be a problem. It's only a couple of minutes stroll down to Rock City where i would usually start the night or if i was heading further afield there is a tuk tuk stand at the end of the soi that the guesthouse is in (50m away) so no problem.
If the price and location suits you then go for it. You won't be disapointed.
The only thing i would suggest is if you don't like climbing stairs ask Tuk for a room on the first or second floor as the lift has not been installed yet.
Hope this helps.

Stoney Monday
I also stayed at a mates hotel called Stoney Monday. Very modern clean rooms with great bathrooms and showers. It has an eatery and a pool table downstairs. The downside is that it has a small pool at the top level with no stairs... Also it is a good mile or so from Bangla road. Not bad if you dont mind taking a 20-40B motorbike taxi. The BM that runs it is named "On Location" an aussie who is hilarious

Summer Breeze Hotel, Phuket
Have also a look at the thread
..and this thread from Dawsey (08. April 2008)
Have stayed in the Summer Suites a couple of times and would recommend them , extra space to chill out. Here are a few pics from my Songkran trip. http://www.phuket-info.com/forums/283207-post63.html

Staff pic from Petter
..and some from nacha
Since i stayd there from 23 Nov to 5 Desember i will write a short note.
A big thanks to Bill for a exceptionally good stay
First days i stayd in the Superior room but afther some days i moved up into the apartment at the top.And i will remember that one, excelent.
And as always the staff at Summer Breeze is great. This time both Bill and Kurt (Bills partner )was there.
The thing i appreciate most is the frendly atmosphere the staff make and how everybody is on the first name with each other from the first day both customers and staff
This time Bill had some friends and partner over from US,and from the first minut is was like, how are you, come and talk with us etc etc.
Make you feel very welcome and always make everybody in a good mood in the bar.
And again the staff is excellent and good fun down to the cleaners.
Restaurant is very good with some good manifoldly dishes
The bar is very good early afthernoon sosial hang out,or to watch a fotty game.
Worth mentioning too is that staying here includes free usage of the BB pool at the end of the Soi.
Great location in Soi Sansabai with al in the walking distance and the chicken
nuggets at Didis late nights Hmm (Thanks for the tips Hobbsy)
Had a great stay and will definitely stay there again.
(Petter 08. December 2006)
------------
Having stayed here in the last week, I can also give a big vote to the CSB.
Great Location - I love Soi Sansabai!
Fantastic Restauarant / Food
Nice lobby area to relax with a beer.
We stayed in the standard room and the summer suite during our stay and found the standard room fine for our needs, the summer suite being just that bit bigger and nicer.
Worth mentioning too that staying here includes free usage of the BB pool at the end of Soi Sansabai, which I wasnt aware of when i arrived.

stayed at the Casa Summer Breeze over the last couple of weeks and had an exceptionally good stay........lots of fellow BMs there.......good comfortable and inexpensive (780BHT per night) rooms.......2 mins walk to Bangla....1 min walk to the pool.....great food, great service and a warm welcoming smile and sawasdee kap every time you come and go.......
Bill certainly has a good eye for staff as all of the girls are exceptional........but none more so than Kathy the manager who takes everything in her stride like the true professional she is...........
I'll be back at Xmas/NY......CSB has everything and more that I need.........Bill if you read this please pass my compliments on to your staff.....
The CSB experience..........is highly recommended by me!!!
(Nelsonone 02.August 2006)
-------------------------
Stayed there for a couple of nights this trip in a Summer Suite and was v impressed.
As well as the pool at the end of the Soi there is one in Tai Life midway up Sansabai - not cheap at 200baht/day but a nice place to spend an afternoon chilling.
(tÜrn 18.May 2006)
-------------
Stayed at Summer Breeze for 21 nights , and was very pleased with the place. Wanted a bit extra this trip , so booked one of the Summer Suite's , got the one on the second floor at the front. Large sitting room with couch, 2 comfortable chairs and coffee table , also large TV. An extra that I made use of was tea/coffee making facilities , many a morning??? I needed the "caffine kick".
Bathroom is a decent size , with a good powerful shower , and is kept very clean by the staff. Large double/king size bed , (so no getting wedged between matresses) , aircon in main room keeps the place cool but there is also a fan which can be directed onto the bed.
Large fridge/minibar and smaller TV also in bed area, safe deposit box fitted in wardrobe.
All the staff were excellent and good fun , cleaners would just laugh when they saw me some days (after a few heavy nights) , security guard at night was always very polite and helpful. Had some really good food and always excellent chats with Bill , who will happily take constructive critisism and do his best to make your stay a pleasent one.
OK , this is me posting , so you know I'll always find fault !!!
Well, this time it's very difficult , when I arrived there were problems using WiFi in the rooms , Bill has already had someone in to fit boosters. Still a bit slow but that is being dealt with and hopefully will be up to speed soon. My only other comment was purely from a personal point of view , my living room had two walls painted with a "mural" of a beach scene. Not really a problem , more a matter of taste . Would it stop me visiting again , h*ll no , I'll be back there next trip and will probably try to get the same room.
Thanks to you Bill , and pass on my best wishes to all your excellent staff.

Just returned from my second stay at the Summerbreeze and would highly recommend it. The hotel is "guest friendly" and has a great location about halfway down Soi Saen Sabai which is located at the top end of Bangla road, so no need to spend extra money on tuk-tuks or taxis. The beach is at the other end of Bangla road, which is only about a 5 to 10 minute walk. The Summerbreeze is a smaller five story hotel with approximately 25 rooms. Most of the rooms are located on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors, with the 5th floor being the penthouse suite….I think there is also one standard room on the first or ground floor. The building does not have an elevator so if you have any physical handicap you may want to try one of the larger hotels that have lifts.
All of the rooms are well furnished and have air conditioning, room safes, cable TV, telephones and a refrigerator/mini bar. Also, a lot of the rooms have large hand painted murals on the walls. All of the rooms now have “free” secure ADSL high speed internet service. While I was there, they installed boosters on all floors so you now get good to excellent signal strength in all rooms…..so bring your laptops. The lobby includes a restaurant and bar with a large flat screen TV and there’s a PC available for checking your e-mails if you didn’t bring your laptop. The food in the restaurant is excellent and I ate all my meals at the hotel.
During my first visit last November I had a Superior room at the front on the 2nd floor which had a window overlooking the street, which is nice if you’re into people/girl watching. This time I stayed in a mini suite (summer suite) located at the rear on the 4th floor which looked out across a 20 foot open area to a brick wall, which is part of the new Jungceylon complex next door. The lack of a view didn’t bother me as I’m more into participating than looking so as long as I could tell if it was night or day, sunny or raining I was fine. The mini suite was well worth the few extra $ as it had a separate sitting room with large wrap around leather couch, coffee table, chairs and two TV’s.
The friendly staff at Summer Breeze was great, from Bill and Kurt the owners down to the cleaning staff. Bill is usually always around (unless out on a HHH run) and the girls working the lobby are cute, friendly and fun. They have also just hired a new general manager named Kat or Katy who speaks great English, as well as several other languages.
Although the hotel does not have its own pool you do have free use of the large B & B pool down at the end of the Soi (one minute walk). On my first trip to Patong I stayed at the Salathai Resort that had a pool right outside my room. I found this can be a problem when kids are yelling and jumping in the pool at 9am while you’re still trying to recuperate from the night before.
Had a great stay and will definitely stay there again.

hi lookingglass i was in the room on the second floor, at the front number 202.
it has a separete bed area and television and a lounge area with a settee and chairs and a coffee table also a big window which looks out over the soi
the rooms are nicely decorated and bright
bill the owner is real friendly ,he comes from las vegas i think-and all the staff are real friendly too, and welcome your evening b/girl also!(there is even a box of condoms supplyed, in the room!)--oh and an in room safe and a full sized fridge
(Andy50 06.Feb.2006)
----------------
i can reccomend the casa summer breeze
i stayed there for 3 weeks-- but don,t get the cheapest rooms as thet dont have a window
the next dearest, are bigger and over lokk the street (soi san sabai)
(Andy50 30. Jan. 2006)
--------------
The Summer Breeze is a good hotel and I would recommend it to anybody looking for a good value place to stay with friendly people but one of the negatives is that it doesn't have a balcony for the rooms and the showers are weak. Everything else about it though is excellent.

Sun Hill Hotel, Patong
will stay at Sun Hill Hotel is located on Nanai rd,i stayed there on my last trip in febuary and i really liked it (recommended by Pablo)...It´s a little bit away from the action so you need to take a tuk-tuk back at night. But i like the area and the hotel and the service is top and only 750thb for a deluxe-room and the pool and the jacuzzi is good too..And all the rooms have a nice balcony...
I really don´t find the tuk-tuks so bad as some BM´s describe in some of their post..There is a taxi-stand just outside the hotel and i pay 20 or 40 thb for a motorbike to get to Bangla or the beach but i only use them in daytime. And in night time 100thb down to Bangla and 150thb back to the hotel by tuk-tuk...But i prefer to pay that because i like this hotel

Tana Patong Hotel, Patong
Yes Inspector D, as LF's map shows it's in strange position, mainly due to Jungceylon building hard up against it's previous entrance (god knows how that was allowed...TIT l guess)
To find it from Bangla, you basicall walk to the end of Soi Saen Sabai.....then keep going straight through the stretch of road that acts as a car park in the evening....you will then see a sign that points to the Hotel, which you turn right and walk 50m along a wooden path to the new (not very modern) Reception Area.....but don't let that put you off coz the Hotel itself is quite fine.
You also feel that you are away from the craziness of Bangala and Rat-U-Chit, so you are able to relax a little more......but of course you are only a 5 minute walk away.
Across from the Hotel is the Banzaar Market, which is predominately used by Thai's....bottom floor has an open air market with seafood, poultry, meat and vegetables.....interesting place to wander through...obviously very different than your western style market.....you will also see many bar girls in their doing a spot of shopping....upstairs is a very nice food court which is quite cheap.....so the food you buy on Bangla for 200 baht you will get at the food court for approx 40....Gez and l ate their often....gez also picked himself up a pair of jeans there for about 300baht l think....it's no wonder this man is an Accountant
Also Nanai Rd is only about 300m in the other direction.
The Tana Hotel is GF
I paid 1600 for a room overlooking the pool....l thing Gez might have paid 300 baht less for his room (Cheap Charlie....55555555)
My room was quite spacious with a balcony.
A free breakfast is also available up to 10am
They hire motorbikes there
Only negative points;
Although the bathroom was spacious.....the water pressure was dismal....it was also no good at Orchid Residence.
No cushions on the poolside deckchairs
TV was tiny and had about 4 channels
IMHO overall rating is about a 7....but it would not take much to turn it into a 9.

Tantum Mansion, Patong
have stayed at tatum 2 times I like the hotel, nice clean rooms, good service, and good prices. 5 - 600 bath low season, 1200 bath high season. no joiner fee.
If you stay there say hellow to Mike (the owner) from Marius norway
Send me a pm if you want to now more about the hotel

Thara Patong Hotel, Phuket
I've stayed there twice and so far its my overall favorite in Phuket (vs two other 4 stars, a 5 star and a 3 star I've also stayed at).
Great location just across from the beach and within walking distance of numerous restaurants + all the hot nightlife... but not too close, which I like. The hotel itself is quiet as the design shields the rooms from the surrounding area. Great pool, good restaurant (though the Salathai restaurant next door is better for dinner and less expensive), decent fitness room & nice staff.
A good 4 star choice at a reasonable price, particularly in the off season.
They've had a couple of management changes over the last few years, and for awhile were affiliated with Swiss Belhotel (no longer, the staff told me even though I think its still on their website).
I think it may have stopped being guest friendly while affiliated with Swiss Belhotel, but it is now guest friendly again. Just be sure to book a double, be somewhat discreet and you shouldn't have any problems. The staff however may ask for your guest's ID, which is good for your protection.
They have 2 primary room sizes. I've always stayed in the larger ones overlooking the pool and they are very nice. I've heard reports the smaller ones were not nearly as nice, though they are in the process of renovating those.

The Green Mansion, Patong
I stayed at the Green Mansion guest house on Soi Wattana, right off Beach Road. In room safe, good shower and hot water, very friendly guys I thought. No fee for guests, in fact if you came in late on your own they want to know why!! (poskat 01.06.2006)

Tom & Marina Guest House in Kamala
Tom & Marina Guest House in Kamala is very nice.
It is fairly new, rooms are clean, guest friendly.
Couple of minutes walk to bars.
10 minutes walk to beach.
800 baht a night.

Toy Residence, Patong
stayed for a month in Toy Residence last Oct/Nov and thought it quite good at the price.
Had the junior suite @18K but reckon there's room to negotiate on that now i know the ropes better. This was low-season remember, think April is probably considered high/medium. Definately GF.
It's right next door to Blue Sky which looked fine as well. These are located on the hill off Nanai Rd and are a little away from the nightlife of Bangla. Personally this is what i wanted and it only takes about 5mins by motorbike to put you in the thick of it - actually seemed to be plenty of bars on Nanai but don't know what they're like.

Tropica Bungalow, Patong
friends of mine have stayed at the Tropica Bungalow and were very happy with the accomodation and service. Ideal location for the beach and the nightlife

Tropica Bungalow - 500bht joiner fee, incase anyone is looking at staying here.

Vech Guesthouse, Patong
Just stayed at The Vech.. They have a new owner, an Aussie by the name of Kevin...
A good place, nice bar / restaurant leading on to the street. There are a few regulars who drink there and people tend to come in off the street as they see the vibe.
The girls were great and as said before there is a massage place at the back.
The rooms are adequate and the rates are low.
A little noisy at night, but then so are most places in the area.
Well worth giving it a try.
(retepg 27. March 2008)
----------------------------
I stayed there in september. Nice people , clean rooms and good to chillout a bit in the afternoon before going to bangla at night. I stayed there two times before and will stay there again. Just 5 a 10 minuts walk, depends on how many girls (or ladyboys) try to stop you walking.
(wakeboycam 10. October 2007)
-------------------
From December 22th until January 7th I stayed at the Vech guesthouse. It's located about 100m past Cristins on the other side of the road. It's a Thai familie run guesthouse. They organise trips, they have a massage salon, laundry service, a small bar and restaurant. Very, very friendly people. Also very guest friendly. And their price in high saison: 700 Bt/night for a double room (the room I had was a little bit small, but on the other hand big enough for two people). Almost nothing can beat that. Their website: Vech Guest House - Guest House Rooms in Patong Beach, Thailand
Their e-mailadress: vechguesthouse@hotmail.com
There is no swimming pool and to Bangla it's about 7/8 minutes walk. To the beach it's 4 minutes when you take the shortcut through Soi Kebsab.
I'll hope this is usefull information.
Cheers,
(Raval 26. Jan.2006)
Victoria Guesthouse, Patong
can recommend you Victoria guest house. It's close to the action in Patong (5 minutes walk from Bangla) and it's extremly girlfriendly, you can take 2 or 3 or 5 girls if you want, it seems it's totally up to you The rooms vary in size and the standard of the equipment but it's comfy, all rooms have AC, fridge, TV, etc etc. I stayed my self there last Nov/Dec and will be staying there in April as well. The price is due to your staying, I got a big room for 600 Baht a night and stayed 3 weeks. If you stay 2 weeks it'll probably be 700 or 800 Baht a night. Then again it's the owner who settles the rates

White Rose
Stayed at the White Rose a sister hotel to the Yorkshire Inn and located about 30 meters further up the road.
My friend and I had the Penthouse for 2 weeks in November. Only 3 apartments in the 3 story building. We had the Arncliffe suite with 2 separate King rooms with own bathroom and a lounge area between the two for social occasions. 3 bar fridges, 3 large plasmas each with DVD players and satellite TV plus free Wi-Fi and security cameras in the stair wells. Reception and room service is at the Yorkshire Inn. No guest fees in fact we had several girls (4 at one stage) back at the apartment in the small hours of the morning for some cheap drinks, games and various other forms of entertainment. Paid about 2100Baht each which was perfect for that time of the year.
Would recommend it for two friends traveling together.

White Sands Resortel
Here is my personal report on this hotel.
This a new or newly renovated small hotel located the next road over from Bangla going away from Mcdonalds. The rooms are well furnished and vey clean, the staff was very friendly and the hotel is very guest friendly. there was some construction going on while i was there but should be finished as well as the swimming pool in time for high season. the cheaper rooms look out the back into a construction area and the better rooms look out the front onto the street. the beach is just 2 minutes away and all the Bangla action is a 10 minute or less walk which makes it easy to get back after a beer or 15 If location at a decent price is what youre looking for then this is the place as the location cant be beat.

Stayed there earlier this month, new "Boutique Hotel" clean, well furnished, guest friendly, only 800 Baht a night but had lots of problems with things not working in the rooms, stayed there first two days and was moved to three different rooms before getting one where most things in working order, supposed to have a pool but "not finished", the cheaper rooms look out over waste ground / building site, staff were great & helpful, stuck it out for two nights then moved to the Blue Ocean.

Yorkshire Inn, Patong Beach
RE-Yorkshire Inn I have stayed there three times and find it a great little hotel, i always book a room with a double bed as i like to spread out, i also like to play find the Thai Girl. The staff are great and its in a brilliant position within two minuites of Bangala road. Very Guest friendly with night security! and ID check for the girls.
The food is excellent and i enjoy the Thai food that they offer, always had a good meal! i have booked for Sep 07 and Feb 08. ideal place if you get that Bangala Road fever!

I stayed at the Yorkshire in October 2006 with my wife and 2 year old daughter. I'm a bit late posting this but just want to say it was a great place for us to stay and we will definately be there again in our next trip to Patong. Location is perfect for the nightlife. The staff (girls) were absolutely great with our daughter and proved to be willing babysitters during their free evenings so that gave us a few good nights out!!
Having the use of the Tailife pool areas and gym is a big plus. Must admit we were a bit confused thinking we had to join the gym to be able to use the pool but never mind, we got a couple of work outs in when we weren't too tired and hung over!
The apartments were a bit claustrophobic with no proper windows and no outside patio areas but that's wasn't too much of a problem, we weren't inside too much during the day and it's pretty relaxing just to sit in the bar and watch the Soi Sansabsai world go by!. Only real negative was that the sofa bed in the living area was taken out for the apartment next door without asking us, that put paid to some of our nocturnal activities - think next time we will try one of those newer 2 bed apartments at the White Rose

Staying at the Yorkshire Inn now and no staff members have mentioned these facilities too me Paul Nor did I see any notice in the room explaining them.
While on this thread, thought I may add my thoughts on the Yorkshire Inn.
Nice clean establishment and a well organised reception/Bar/Restaurant area dominated by a plasma TV screen showing the current main sporting event. As usual in Thailand staff are really helpful and charming. No problems bringing back unregistered guests and the place is located in a great location which suits my needs.
My room which contains a double bed is rather small, although for a five day stay I am not to bothered however, a week in a shoe box like this would def be my maximum. The window faces a brick wall so no real advantage gained there in terms of panoramic view of Patong. Loads of storage space in the room with a large wardrobe and plenty of drawers and even glass display shelves For some reason the A/C unit in my room was not very efficient at cooling me down whilst in bed although it was ok for the rest of the roomProbably cos the unit itself was located above the headrest of the bed and the cool air was flowing away. Guests I took back also remarked on this strange situation.
Lovely quality linen on the bed and nice towels in a very clean room.
My room had a well stacked mini bar however,on surveying the tariff I soon decided to give these items a swerve due to their ''high'' prices and I went to the 7/11 to buy my own water etc etc.
Shower was ok and plenty of hot water pressure although the same could not be said of the bum squirter which barely worked. Soap provided but not shampoo which I found disapointing especially as I am paying 1500 Baht per night.
I did eat here and found the two meals to be acceptable and reasonable value.
Would I stay there again....Probably not, but only because I prefer more space and nothing to do with the quality of the room or the establishment.

Hi guys, I'd like to thank everyone for the positive comments about our hotel. We also value the other comments too and as a response to the complaints voiced on this board we have now cancelled all electricity charges.
We'd also like our regular visitors to know that we have taken control of Tai Life leisure and fitness center and our guests may use the pool, steam room and sauna for frer. You will also recieve a 20% on use of the gym too, its literally yards from the Yorkshire Inn.

I stayed there for 1 month between March > April this year. They've got a small safe in each of the rooms. Apartments themselves are very nice although the "Comfortable" sofa bed is a matter of opinion. If you stay there for a long period of time, try and get a quote on Electric Bill if you're in an apartment. Upon checkout the Thai Manager, or so he said, attempted to charge me 8000 baht. It went down to 6000 baht in a matter of minutes but i'm still 99% sure i got shafted.
Besides that it's a lovely place to stay and the food is great.

I stayed at "The Yorksher Inn" when i was in Patong (Januar/februar) and i can highly recomend it. Lokated in soi sansebai. I meet you (geir) outside it a copel of times. Ordenary rooms cost ca 1200 bath a day - suite cost ca 3000 bath a day (talk to the manager/owner and he will get you a good prise) The suites/apartments are very good!
I didnt pay eny joiner fee. The food there is also ekselent (try the lambschank!)
You can also try the Salathai, frendly staff and very good rooms.
