Dry Airlines

Does anyone know if there are still any "dry" airlines between UK and BKK?
Can't do without my wine to send me off to sleep!

The only airlines that I could think of that might be dry would be an airline out of a Muslim country in the Mideast. Just call the airline that you are interested in and their reservations department should be able to tell you.

Jim I think you will find the only three Middle East Countries where alcohol is forbidden are Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the city of Sharjah next to Dubai.
Its funny to see busloads of Muslims going from Sharjah to Dubai for a drink. They are only 8miles ap art

Thumbs up China Airlines

I can take great pleasure in reassuring all our readers that flights on China Airlines are fully alcohol available. When I last flew BBK to AMS I was even offered Port as an after dinner drink.

I just find a bit of alcohol gets me off to sleep at the right time, ie trying to switch to destination time as soon as I get on board. My usual China Airlines(very good) lands at BKK 7am and in accommodation in BKK(usually have a day or two there) by 8.30am so can have a couple of hours sleep there as well. No jet lag problems.
My next trip will probably be using up my Nectar/air miles points and Emirates or Etihad look the best bet for that. Even for free I would hesitate to use KLM again.

Emirates definitely has booze and good quality booze (and food) too Barfly....I was offered french champagne + caviar in business......very pleasant

I too dislike KLM....I find the staff are rude and officious and the planes are out of the ark.............

I was once the only person in business going from Amsterdam to Madrid on KLM and I was going to a meeting with a business associate who had booked economy....when I asked if it would be possible for him to join me to discuss work after the food service was over the 7' tall dutch biatch who was in control of the cabin said to me "there are no free upgrades on KLM Sir"

I thought well feck you biatch and went down the back and sat with my colleague...............when I went back up after she asked me to return to my seat before landing there were about 8 people sitting in business ????......

On the way out the biatch had the temerity to say to me "goodbye.........I hope you enjoyed your flight Sir" and smiled......I said "no actually.....and all because of You" and just walked off..........since then I have never to flown with KLM again

I had very good experience with Emirates, they served a lot of alcoholic drinks. and their service was excelent. On the other hand, last time I flew with Mahan Air from Iran and they where strictly dry. They even confiscated the tax-free bottles from the passengers (which they had bought at the previous airport) when we had to change planes in Tehran.

Cheers,

Raval

I don't drink on flights, maybe I should ask if I can sit in either of these seats on the flight.

For the record QATAR Airways serve drinks even though they are from an Islamic state.

555555555 I had a couple of beers with andy50 when I met him before his New Years trip. I was going to the Middle East.
Big mistake, those two beers made me feel crap,I spent half the (night) flight taking a p1ss,and I got stuck in a window seat.

God I wish I could sleep on a plane, but I feel so cramped up its near impossible.
Do those sleeping tablets work? Which ones do you use, and are they "over the counter"?

I always get a window seat, Stick the pillow against it and off to sleep I go, Only once the tablets didnt work, Unfortunatly they are not over the counter pills, My Nan stays with us, And she has loads of prescriptions of D5/10's and other sleeping pills/relaxing pills she needs to take regularly, So I just take 4 with me, 2 each way and they work a treat, Also got a few valium at Songkran and they also worked a treat for me, And didnt get the normal side affects some people get....
