Where to rent a motorbike? (best deal...)
I've been to Phuket many times and usually rent a Nuovo or Mio from my hotel. During low season they was 150/day for the Mio, 200/day for the Nuovo. During high season they want 250/day for the Nuovo, not sure for the Mio. Both are automatics.
I'm staying in Patong later this week and can rent again from the hotel, but was wondering if there are any good places to rent from that are cheaper? I looked around last month and kept getting the 300/day quote. I wouldn't mind rewarding the a place who can cut a better deal with my business...
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Sai Nam yen up by the traffic lights on Nanai junction.. 150 a day high season seems about right for either.. Avoid beach Rd or other tourist zones..

Thanks guys, I will get my gf to rent it and see what we get. Now, by Nanai junction you mean where they have the new pain in the butt traffic lights, just up from the honda dealer?
Cheers,

100 baht a day if you rent for a month or its a rough one.. 150 a day is 'new bike' pricing.. sliding scale from nuovo mio wave (125s, 125, 110) cheer, kaze etc...
You will have a very hard time getting a mio or nuovo for 100 a day even low season.. Can be down to 120 per day on mio or nuovo if low season and argue hard but I used 150 as a safe bet for a bit of tourist pricing.. nuovos generally command about 4k per month I think even monthly. Not much of a fan of the autos myself..

Not that end of town. Sai Nam yen is where Patong hospital is. If you carry on past the hospital (on your right) about 50m before Nanai on the right hand side.
I've used them several times for long term rental and always been cheap and new bikes. I go back now, even though I've bought one now, as the lady there fixes my helmet visor that I keep busting. as someone else said take your gf to sort out price.

I've not managed 100 Bt (on a new one) even when tgf was asking for a months rental in low season, it was more like 130 or 140 Bt.
Anyway, it's peanuts, so anything close is still a good deal.

I ended up using my BG's motorbike, but I rented for a 3 days a new Mio for 550 baht, not at the place mentionned but nearby. I didn't realize it wasn't the right shop until after I cut the deal. Still, not a great deal but virtually all the other places wanted 250 a day, one nearby offered 200 a day but wouldn't knock off the 50baht. I'm not exactly a cheap bastard but I like when they make a little effort to get your business....
cheers,
Robaht
