Booking Flights
I want to book flights for me and the GF to Phuket for St Paddy's Day through the Air Asia website. She has told me her name in English but I am not confident that she has spelt it right. Also does it have to be the Thai or English DOB's or is either ok? Anyone have any experience with this?

I have never come across being asked for date of birth for buying an air ticket. As for names, since there is no direct transliteration between Thai script and our Roman alphabet there will only be an approximation of your Thai G/F name on the air ticket in our alphabet. Don't think it is a problem if there is one letter spelling difference from one flight to the next as long as it is near as dammit a sound-alike to her name on her ID card. I know my g/f's name has been spelt two or three different ways on various air tickets in the past.

If she has a new style ID card with the name in English then it must match, otherwise a resonable interpretation will do - in my experience.

If she have a passport, use the English spelling as written in her passport.
Funny you mention the new ID cards, I saw it for the first time just last week. (And now Ead want to apply for a new ID card, because she want the latest one. It also have their birthday in English these days, easy to find out how old the girls are.)

What surprised me was the English spelling of her name was very different to the one that came out of Thai air when we travelled with them - though they would get it right.

That is right, I once had a problem when I flew with GF no.1 from Bangkok to Phuket because I had booked the tickets in advance and the name wasn't spelt the same. They refused to check her in and I had to buy another ticket from the Sales Desk so she could fly. I was given a refund for the first ticket - less their admin fee of course !!
