Thailand Trip In May? From past veterans like yourself. :)

I am fortunate enough to travel again to Thailand in May. This will be my 4th time in LOS. Especially since the last time around was only back in December/January. Lucky me eh? I will be going with 4 friends. I cannot wait, since 2 months is just around the corner. I will be traveling late may into june. Our venues include : Koh Samui, Koh Phi Phi, Koh Phuket, Chang Mai and perhaps Myanmar. Our stay will only be for 2 weeks and 2 days. We will be traveling via Thai Airways 17 hrs direct flight. Got a pretty decent deal that is why.

The only bad part is that we land during RUSH HOUR. I never came from the airport during rush hour. What is the average time for traveling with a cab? This is irrevelant but we will not have a lot of stuff. We are traveling light, just a duffle bag.

How is the weather during May? The past two times I was in LOS in July/August we were fortunate enough not to see too many days of rain. But I looked up the weather patterns from yahoo.com and it shows that May has about 7.50 rain faLL?? And it does indicate hot times, which I am all for.

Excited to be coming back, only have 5 months I am back!!! I will stop in this time Niche. I don't know if you remember but I said hi to you back in December, and told you I would be back. ..... in 5 months.

Theres a rush hour on any of those lists (phuket / Samui / phi phi / CM / Etc) now ??

Closest thing I see to a rush hour in any of those is people packing a bar after the bell has rung..

Maybe trying to see too much in such a short time , 5 places in 16 days , including travel time you will hardly have time to unpack. Perhaps better to limit yourself to 2/3 places and see the rest on another trip.

You say in your other post that you plan to travel to Mayanmar for one or two nights , with journey time this could take up about a quarter of your holiday.

As you are travelling with Thai , have you got a connecting flight to Phuket ?
Rush hour After 17 hours of travelling , does an extra 15 minutes really matter ?????

sorry, I was not clear. I was referring to the traffic in Bangkok when we arrive @ 4pm. I think you fellas are right about traveling to too many places. I am thinking 1 to 2 nights in bangkok, then 4 nights in Koh Samui, then 4 nights in Phuket. I really want to visit Myanmar though, since I have not been back in about 16 years. I thought the flight time was relatively short no? an hour or so from Bangkok.

Hey WildOnE............are you the guy who is eccyed off his head on the WildOnE promotion on telly????? you know the Asian guy who screams at the camera........."everybody's wild on E"........whilst licking his chops and gnashing his teeth at the same time........er sorry.............thought not.........anyway if you are you may want to consider it but if not I have something to offer............

Bangkok-Pangon about 1 hour flight but also 1 hour to airport in taxi and 2 hours check in..... makes 4 hours + 2 hours in Pangon getting bags + through customs then the trip to town from airport...........Pangon traffic worse than BKK these days........ x 2 for return.........that's 12 hours travelling for about 24-36 hours there.....what are ya gonna see in 24-36 hours?????...........just a few wats etc and a shit load of traffic...........perhaps better left for another trip when you have more time???

I haven't been to Myanmar in nearly 30 years but IMHO unless you are gonna get out of Pangon and see Mandalay and Pagan and some of the beautiful countyside it's not worth the vist

Still all very much depends on where your headed in Bangkok. Of course it is peak hour, but just tell the taxi driver to take the expressway, you will of course have to pay the toll.

I was only going to visit my relatives. Hmm.. they are about 20 minutes away or so from the airport. But I am not sure anymore, if it is worth it or not just for 2 to 3 days. I been to Asia (just thailand) four times now, not once have I traveled across the border into my home land. What is wrong with me??

Expressway is only like 60 baht isn't it. I was thinking of heading down to Silom area, stayed there all 4 times I was there. Maybe its time for a change to somewhere else.
