Malaysian Airlines

Malaysian Airlines (MAS) warns it will go bankrupt in April if it does not immediately restructure its business and raise cash.... Obviously there is no way the Malaysian Government would ever let it happen, or at least admit it publicly.

There are major fleet and route reductions underway, and this is always not a good sign of things to come.

MAS have been running some very cheap fares to Los from oz for a fair while now.
good standard of english amongst the cabin crew, enjoyed my flight with them last time to los.

agree steve, cant see them suffering the humilation of the nations carrier going broke

MAS requested for RM2 billion bailout from the government...problems arised due to rise in fuel prices and bad top management...right now flights are now being rationalised...profitable routes being maintained but looks like most local/domestic flights will be taken over by Airasia. MAS will definitely not be allowed to go bankrupt by the government.

And not to mention the sale of up to 12 x 747-400's. Doesn't leave alot of capacity. Although they could be selling and then leasing back!!!

I used them on the FCO-KUL-HKT route and I really enjoyed flying with them. Food was excellent. Great service. The only complaint I could have could be the 1 hour delay in KL for the return flight or worse: the flashing colours of the cabine staff uniforms
