well took the plunge and have got a flight for £430 inclusive of booking charges on nov. 13th from manc with ethidad.booked through http://www.opodo.co.uk/ seems a good deal to me.
book early folks the price is bound to go up soon.

I've just got my 6 week break agreed with work for next January, so I will book the flight this weekend. The outbound flight (08:40) is not convenient from Manchester, so I will probably go from Heathrow. Costs a bit more and I think the return journey has a longer stopover in Abu Dhabi.

That makes sense,especially if the flight you are arriving on has been delayed.LHR is notorious for missing a landing slot and going round  It won't matter too much in Abu Dhabi,as its a fairly small airport and the departure gates are all on one floor (12 gates IIRC),so no dashing from one terminal to another. But the biggest worry is getting luggage off your flight and on to your next one in time. Thats where I have found Air France c0ck-up. So far Etihad have been good.

what i understood from the PR department is that the new planes are arriving fast (i was mentioning flying from lgw from 2nd half of may) and will be operating 777 on al outbound UK flights by the end of the year (expectation according to press statement)
The 777 is a nice plane with hugh private screens that you will love even in coral
