So it's between 3 and 5 days before departure. In that case it will be a phonecall. I wish I could do it by e-mail.

An update to Etihads LGW flight to BKK via Abu Dhabi.
Checked in at 8 45am for an 11am flight on 31/3. Bags checked through to Phuket which is a relief, even though I'm using Bangkok Airways for the last leg from BKK.
Flight left nearly an hour late due to a passenger problem and then a slot in the take-offs. I was a bit worried as we only had 1hr 10mins between flights anyway. We made up some time, but on landing,we had 35mins to next flight departure out of AUH.
I wanted to go to duty-free,and the Etihad staff were trying to get me into the departure lounge for the flight I promised I would be 5mins,which turned into 20mins after a problem with my debit card. When I checked later,I had been undercharged by £32 for my smokes
The second flight was unevenful except for a spectacular lightening storm below us over Burma as dawn was coming up.
A 3hr wait at BKK was softened by using Bangkok Airways dedicated lounge with free food and drinks.Very nice, and I recommend the free internet in their lounge at Phuket departures.
Arrived ontime at Phuket and the bags arrived as well
The food and service was very good and a full plane on all legs show that Etihad have a competetive price and are serious alternatives to the usual carriers for those preferring to break the long trip to LOS with a short layover.
I will be enquiring about whether they run a frequent flyers scheme after 12flights with them over the past 12months
As for the plane, I love the B777-300. Very smooth,3rows of 3 seating,a little noisy until it reaches its cruising speed and height, but for a plane that carries 365 passengers a much nicer plane than the ageing 747.
I'll be interested to see the new A380 and how that compares. The 777 is better IMO than the current A340.

All of them Steve There is no business class from BKK to HKT,its only a small B717 or A320 for the short flight so its economy for everyone.

Pity there is no free internet at BKK departures for BKKAirways, but the lounge is nice and big with a smoking room and free food and drinks
The lounge at Phuket has the free internet, but is a lot smaller, still with free food and drinks.
I will make a point of trying to use Bangkok Airways in the future. They are very good, and as Ally has said, cheaper than Thai

The one in Bkk does have free internet or at least it did when I was there...
Just as you walk in, Its on the lefthand side, There is about 4/5 computers with free access, And on the righthand side is the free food and drinks?
Has it changed since I was there?

No PC s there now Ally. Just so as we are talking about the same lounge, its the domestic departure lounge on the ground floor, very large room with the smoking room at the far end by the toilets.Yes,the food stall was on the right. There weren't any PC s there last fortnight that I could see.

Yes thats the one Dawsey, The last time I was there was last Songkran but they had 4/5 PCs on the lefthand side up against the wall, And a kinda different type of seating area beside it (I think)...
Anyway must be gone now, Because it definatly sounds like the same lounge to me....
