Anyone know where I mean?
Can anyone help me? I am looking for the name of a hotel, I know where it is but cannot remember the name and would like to stay there. If you go south by road from Patong beach along the coast you climb up the hill and drive for 5-10 mins before the road ends. Here you can go up a dirt track which leads to a place called paradise beach. Before going up this track, where the road ends is a nice beach, what is the name of the beach? Also there is just one hotel here on the beach, anyone know what it is called? Help is appreciated.
Cheers

Yeah, it isn't super clear exactly where you mean, but I think you are referring to Trai-Trang Beach? Looking at a map of Patong, the hotels there are...Amari Coral Beach, Coral Beach villa, Baan Yindee, Ban Nernsai resort, and Merlin Beach resort - though I think most of those are up the hill toward the lookout point over Patong, whatever the precise name for that place is I have no idea (good place to watch the sunset though if the mosquitos don't getcha...)
Just to throw them out there since it isn't really clear, you might be talking about the Meridien? (but i don't know if you can access Paradise beach that way...)
Good Luck. Robaht.

pretty sure that is the Merlin Beach Resort
From Phuket.as...
To get here rent a longtail boat from Patong Beach or a motorbike. Drive past Merlin Beach Resort (Tri Trang Beach) and follow the road to it ends at Emerald Bay. Then drive up the steep narrow jungle road and follow the sign to Paradise Beach.

The beach gets called crystal bay by most people I know.. Used to have a lovely little resturant out under the tree at the road end but the silly buggers pulled it down.. Now no one cllects the garbage anymore and its a natural rubbish collector.. Real shame !!
The hotel on the left (going to crystal bay) is the Merlin.. Thats the big orangy kinda place..

Crystal Bay
There is a nice little reggie bar set up at the old area of the Crystal Bay ( Tri Trang) restaurant. The place is quiet and serves cold beers.

The original resturant was wiped out in the Tsunami.
There's another one there now.
Used to be a nice quiet place for a couple of hours in the afternoon but now is becoming more well known. Last time I was there in January it was overun with those people who prowl the soi,s at night with no shirts on and shades on the tops of their heads.

I think it got dismatled a fair bit before the tsunami.. I heard that they didnt have land rights..
I remember they closed the place and dismanted it and built that bad looking cinder block wall.. Hadnt spotted a new resturant on the same site but then I usually just blow on past to Paradise beach now..

Yeh this is the place I am on about. When I was there last month it was really quiet my GF from Bangkok really liked it, so did I. There is a new hotel just behind the resteraunt. This is the place that I would like to know what it is called. has great balconies overlooking the sea.

I took a ride that way with TG in tow quite some time back, she was telling me how good this restaurant was and sure enough, we got there and it was gone.
She was dissapointed to say the least and I never got to enjoy it..shame
