Urtheman's new hotel in Chiang Mai

I've been in CM for three days trying to get ready to open on the 4th of April.

CM seems like a nice city, a little dusty but very rustic compared to Phuket.

The hotel is very cool and ultra funky, part of it is a 140 year old house converted to hotel.
The interior has been done with all the cool decoration from the north of Thailand.
When I saw the kitchen I almost died, it was set up as a Thai kitchen with a three wok station and thats it I called in a kitchen specialist and now we are tearing it out and doing it right.
Interviewing staff, finding food suppliers, glasses, plates, sliverware, I used to get all stressed when I had a deadline but now this is my forth new place in Thailand so I just try the best I can and if the guests dosen't get foie gras on the 4th what can I do?
At night I hang out with the construction crew by the pool drinking Chang and answering questions. "why you not married you old man" I reply I'm waiting to go to their village to find "a good one"

Nightlife more subdued (spelling)than Phuket haven't had much time to explore all around. Thought the women would be more lovely than Phuket but haven't really found that to be true. I'll give it time.
I'm excited as now I will shuttle between Phuket and CM.

Bangkok and Samui coming up

BM's who want to stay in a cool funky hotel and have a Thai experience should stay here, I'll give you guy's a good rate.

I have to resize my pics and will post soon.

Cheers!

Robert

I will be back in CM for the next Loy Krathong Rob,

I like the hotel I stayed in last time (Montri) because it is only 700 baht per night/good for the price and right next to Tae Pae gate, but I may be interested so let us know some more details when you have time please.

The name of the hotel is Manathai Village Hotel it's close to the night market on soi 3

The hotel will open on the 4th of april

I can get a special rate for Bm's but if your looking for a 700 baht room this is not the type of hotel(they have to pay my salary) .

Please PM me and I will let any BM know what we can do.

I'm also looking at the construction going on and I don't believe we'll be open on the 4th but you never know.

Cheers!

Robert

We've actually already booked our accommodation in Chiang Mai (Baan Orapin) but we'll pop round and see how things are progressing

Some pics of the hotel

Just got back from Chiang mai and the place really grows on me.

I'm going back next week as our opening is put back until the 8th.

I think I like Chiang Mai better than Bangkok.

The pics are from my new camera and don't do justice to the hotel.

Hi Urtheman, it seems to become a nice hotel. So is this the night bazaar you mean? Have you been playing pool in "Why not bar"? I enjoyed this bar and had a lot of fun. I think i will come this year again to Chiang Mai, but i like to be in the centre. Last time i stayed in raming lodge. Your hotel seems to be a kind of style i like.Raming is Lana style. Can you tell about the prices , where are they starting? I wish you good luck with your work. Lucky guy you work at the two places i like so much do you need an assitent?

PM me with dates and I'll get a good rate for you.

The hotel is where you want to be in terms of nightlife.
I go to so many bars I often forget the names but I'll try to remeber "Why not bar"

I need an assistant but unless you are a Thai cutie(woman) between 19-25
you might not qualify.

Pm me for dates when you are in Chiang mai and I can get you some rates.

Cheers!

Good luck on the hotel! Keep us updated with the final pics. Chiang Mai is on my must see places in LOS for my next trip and it would be nice to see some BMs out there.

When will the hotel be open, what are the basic rates and who does the PR? Just send me a pm on the last question. I will throw you a freebie when I am doing Chiang Mai Reviews later this year
