Jetstar to Phuket

Just announced in Melbourne, Jetstar will commence flying Sydney to Phuket 3 times per week from Nov 2006, using A330-200 aircraft from the Qantas mainline fleet in a 2 class configuration. These aircraft offer full AVOD.

These flights should prove very popular, and just in time for the main holiday peak period.

Will it be like when you fly jetstar into melbourne, and have to get a $100 Cab fair to the city?

Avalon doesnt not have customs facilities, and there are no plans to provide them.

Heard that on the radio today, in regards to Australian Airlines ( http://www.australianairlines.com.au )ceasing their operations. From what I saw they used to operate to Phuket mainly as a charter type flight landing on the monday and departing the Tuesday giving you 8 days in Patong. Almost went with them last trip but the included accomodation was set and we had plans to check out Singapore

They have not offered those packages in a while though, and will be seeing if Jetstar can beat the Singapore Air price/schedule for August

Edit: Just noticed it starts in November

Should be a good thing now and I think it will be more popular and cost efficient than Australian Airlines costs Qantas. Funny thing is I know quite a few people that had put in some long hours and hard work trying to reschedule Australian Airlines flights and do deals to keep them going operating. But as always comes down to operating costs and as jetstar costs 30% less run Its only logical.
