Eva Air

Just about to book a flight via Airline Network with Eva Air London to Bangkok for £765 in their "Elite" class on a 777.
Anyone used this airline with this "super economy" seating??
Is it worth paying the extra, what do you get for your money over and above the basic economy class? Done a search on places like airlinequality etc and reviews seem very mixed and most of the reviews are for a 747 flight and the configeration on a 777 seems to be a lot different.
Thanks

Not sure this will be a great help to you but flew lhr-bkk in Sept in their premium economy (Evergreen?) was not impressed, but that was on a 747, the return leg was to be on a 777 but never got round to getting on it

Friend did do a return leg on a 777 (Evergreen) and said it was very good. He's booking up the same for a couple of weeks time.

Take a look at their site, there's a presentation on the 777 and you get details of exactly what Elite class is like

Cool

I've used EVA in their Premium Economy and the way I look at it, is that you pay about £100-£150 more for a lot more legroom and a slightly bigger seat - which is great for a big old lump like me

Their inflight service is not as good as I have received on other airlines, the alchohol is hard to come by and they don't serve it before the meal, so you have to wait until they have finished giving the food out. Then afterwards it's hard to come by as well. When I last flew they had run out of beer and served wine from the bottle straight into a glass, rather than give you a small bottle like some airlines.

The above is just what I had happen to me, but I don't have a problem with it as I am happy with the bigger seat without having to pay £1,200-£1,400 for it as with BA's Premium Economy or even more for a Business Class ticket.

As I say, best way to view it (in my opinion) is you will be Economy treatment but in a bigger seat. If it works out better than that, then it's a bonus.

I would also recommend joining the Evergreen Club, as you will only need a few flights (LHR > BKK) before you have enough for an upgrade to Business .

I HAVE FLOWN eva air several times in their premier econonomy BUT !!! i wont again !!! the premier economy used to be called evergreen deluxe class and it was superb value . big black leather seats plenty of drinks and best of all children under 10 were barred from sitting in that area . but in october last year they changed their planes and the new elite class as it is now known is a big disapointment . my faults were

1 although there is plenty of leg room the seats are very narrow

2 i had 2 crying babies on way out and 1 on return journey absolute hell seems they allow babies to travel on elite class thats one of the main reasons i pay extra to avoid that

3 when the aircraft is boarded , you are last to be boarded, even the cattle class are boarded before you.

4 i am not telling you not to fly with eva air just that in my opinion you should save money and fly economy class as the elite class is pony !!!

personally for me i dont fly eva because living in scotland it means having to journey through heathrow and i cant stand that place even when i lived i east ham for 15 years i always flew london city to amsterdam to connect with klm or china air their now its glasgow-amsterdam-bangkok with china or klm

Flown eva-air a number of times (Not this time coming!) and the new 777 are excellent!

The 'Elite' class is very good for about £100 more than economy! But I have never seen a econ flight to bangkok for over £600 on eva before! Put that could be the time of year you are going? If it peak season, then ok. But if its over the next few months till November, then the price to me, is a bit steep!

But the 777 is, I feel, an excellent aircraft!

Just stick the little b*ggers through the "cling film luggage wrapping machine" , that would keep them quiet and make it easier to fit them in the overhead lockers.

Price includes all taxes and fees and is for elite class.

Yeah. I know what you meant but elite is usually priced at £100 more than the economy option. But you should be able to get an elite flight to bkk for between £500 - £650 depending on the time of year! But then prices have gone up since the 777's were first introduced last year. They were offering crazy prices!

Thanks for the report TM.

Have considered flying on Eva's upgraded version of economy myself a few times, but don't think I'll bother now.

I think your choices have to be either economy, or first class. There isn't enough incremental value to fly "elite", so rough it in economy if you are a smaller man, or take 1st class on a 777-300. Another option is to choose a 747 and then fly "deluxe". The EVA website lists the equipment that is scheduled to fly. This can change, but nothing in life is certain.

AS I SAY guys i am not telling anyone not to fly eva air because they are a good airline ! i just dont think that the new elite class is worth paying more money for i was just as comfortable in economy class if like me you have to catch a connecting flight from another uk airport when you check in you can also book in for the bangkok flight i have flown eva air and china air 15 times and can always manage to get the seats at the fire exit with no one in front of you .

i've flown eva air from vienna to bkk in the deluxe class. you have more space for the legs imho i think singapore air is just as good in the economy class. i had great leg room and i'm a pretty big guy. i also liked the stewardesses better with singapore air --> i love those cute dresses they wear

Eva

Flown Eva a couple of times in "evergreen" on 747 and service found to be ok, me and my mate both lardasses and appreciated the extra room. Flew April on new 777 in "elite" and found it disappointing to say the least . Seats are not as wide and controls for IFE get in way as well as headphone connection. Also found cabin noisy as it is over the wing. Also liked to roam about cabin on 747 and stand in galley at bottom of stairs to stretch legs. Nowhere to walk on 777.
In future we are thinking of flying Man Ams Bkk as they still run 747s out of Holland.
