AirAsiaPlus.com

Just came across this website. Let's you search for AirAsia flights from a certain date to anything up to 14 days from that date. Basically, saves you having to do loads of searches on the airasia site to find flights.

Seems to work well, and is so much easier to see what is available all on one page instead of trying multiple dates over and over. Easy way to cherry pick the cheaper flights too....

How did AirAsia "screw" it up? I've flown with then for the last two years and not had a problem. Aloha Andrew

Any airline that has cadets sitting in the right hand seat, is an airline that I will avoid.

They never left on time.
They gave knowingly wrong information about the new departure time. They like to tell you a delay of 20 minutes which becomes 40 etc. (this happens frequently)

The time I walked into their office in Phuket Airport and bought a ticket for the next flight to Bangkok. Walked out of their office straight to check in desk (2 min), to be told that we were booked on the next departure because the flight was cancelled. They had to admitt that the flight was already cancelled before we bought the tickets.

Another time.... called them to see if enough seats available for a late arrival on the airport and to book my tickets there. Got instructed to be not later than 1 hour before departure at the check in desk, ample seats available. Was in the company of my sister and her husband. Was there in time. It took the lady on the desk 20 (!!) minutes to deal with someone in front of me at the check in. By the time I walked up it was 59 minutes before departure. They refused me on the flight because of that. All kind of excuses were made as: everybody already checked in, not true, manifest already finished, not true, captain refused you because you are late, not true, the stationleader made the decision, not true..... After long discussion with the station leader the excused, mistake was made and he knew nothing about the problems and excuses made why I could not make the flight. By that that time flight left already.............. But my sister and husband were on the flight!

This week I flew HKT-BKK with Nok. Nice on time departure. Best was the smile on my face when there was the common announcement from Air Asia. We HAVE (she actaully said have) to appologize for the inconvenience caused by...delay!

But that can happen at any airline. Once a flight is opened for checkin, control of that flight leaves the reservations system and is then controlled by operations, or someother group. It may not be until after awhile until the cancellation of the flight is noted in the res system.

Dont get me wrong, there is no way I am supporting AK, just pointing out this is just the way things happen in the industry.

Again, not really a situation specific to AK. Some airlines have a hard closeout built into their systems. Which means at a predefined time, in case looks like 60 minutes, a flight is closed to new sales. Of course this can normally be overriden by a supervisor.

To some extend I agree with what you say.

If this was on a major airport with well defined seperation of reservations and operations, I would agree. In the case of Air Asia on Phuket Airport you will see the same people handling reservations and operations. There is no seperation as such at all. Also the system used for in the Air Asia office and the actual check in desk is linked. Furthermore, office and check in desk are manned by a few people of who several carying walkietalkies to communicate directly between the different locations (Office/check in/boarding gate). It was also very clear that both times they had to agree that mistakes were made.

In my opinion this airline is very amateurish in its operations. They think to come away with a lot by having you believing that you have a cheap seat so you have to put up with some inconvenience.

Unfortunately there are many more people out there with similair stories. The list of people who I know and not want to fly with Air Asia is getting longer and longer. Included in that quit a few Phuket based people who frequently travel to Bangkok.

As I just purchased a business in Patong, more about that later.., and still run a business in Bangkok I will travel very frequently between Phuket and Bangkok. Due to the inconveniences described I choose to fly with other airlines as THAI or Nok.

It is unfortunate that Air Asia difficulties to disclose the problems they have. It all starts with the tight schedule they have to turn around planes. This of course to reduce costs.... The schedule does not allow for any minimal delay during the day. Any delay in the morning will still be there in the afternoon. Without a perfect organisation and no other negative influences the schedule could be met. But in reality.... Most of the later flights of Air Asia are always delayed....

Information towards the customers/passengers might help a lot. Why does Air Asia not displays the actual deoarture time when known on the departure terminals on the airports? Why they keep changing the departure time when it is well known that previous called times were not realistic? (Last flight we were waiting for a plane to arrive from Had Yai. Yhey kept pushing the departure time by 20 minutes. At gthe moment that plane left at Had Yai they knew the arrival time at Bangkok and the minimum time needed to turn around that plane. So why not give that time instead of having people lining up up to 3 times ready for boarding?)

They lost my business................

air asia

A friend of mine recently turned up at singapore airport for what was to be a flight to indonesia with air asia...but the air asia staff told him that they hadnt sold enough tickets to justify going ahead with the flight and that he should come back tomorrow.
He was not happy, and will stick to singapore airlines in the future.

Dont get me wrong, I'm with you with your opinion of AK. There are things that go on in that place that the public just doesnt want to know about. Put it this way, if they were flying in Australia or most other countries for that matter, they would have been grounded by now.

You got RM160K and want to fly a plane, I know where you'll get a start.

Only joking.

But thinking about it, it would be nice if more sites like this appeared. For casual travellers who just want to pick a trip but are flexible on dates some of the airlines sites are a nightmare. Don't particularly like Thai or Malaysian. Obviously the small airlines are easier due to less routes. Tiger/JetStar are pretty good. Even finding the routes/schedules on some sites is a royal pain in the ****

Which is why I have been thinking for a while about setting up some sort of website that will be updated with the latest schedules and have it on a nice Flash presentation so that you can pick a place and see what routes are available and link straight through to the airline for booking/prices.

I'm far too lazy for that tho.

Send a message via ICQ to Nicke
I have used Air Asia lot of times, mostly to KL but also to BKK few times. Delayed few times but I dont mind as they do send SMS about delays.

When the price is high, I switch to Malaysian Airlines. Or for Bangkok, Nok Air and Bangkok Airways is also pretty cheap.

I am happy we have a low cost carrier, I dont expect them to be perfect.

Thats the whole key to it there. Most people expect the same or a similar level of service that they get on the full service airlines, it just doesnt happen.

A guy did that down here, and Jetstar in Oz have banned his site from getting data from their site. Their excuse was, it wasnt in the airlines interest.

It's a bit too much for me to be hacking into their databases for schedules - I was thinking more of a general site where people can go to see what routes are possible within Asia at a current point in time, and be able to use it as a launch pad to their sites, alongside a bit of extra info on the destinations featured.

In the future, with enough traffic coming from that site to the carriers then direct advertising from the airlines would be a possibility....

ah, it just sounds so easy on paper
