all the consulates in KL are conveniently located in the same place not far from the centre of KL. Get there early tho.

I stay in the Concorde hotel - nice place and slap bang nr the action.

Try entering some dates and getting a fare and you end with 7000+baht so god knows how you get that special. Also it says FROM 2599 which means it doesn't include admin, tax+fuel surcharges so it's unlikely to be any cheaper than AirAsia.

Best I can find on AirAsia is

HKT KUL 849 + 210 admin +480 fuel
KUL HKT 1199 + 624! admin + 480 fuel

= 3842 baht for roundtrip flight (+500 airport tax)

From KL airport take the fast train (35Rg) into KL Central (approx 30 minutes) then get a cab from Central to Concorde Hotel (10Rg) approx 10 minutes dependant on traffic.

Room rate on my last stay was 210 Rg (2200Baht)

One drawback- you have to submit your passport between 0830 and 1130 but you don't collect it until 1200 the following day.

Concorde hotel to Thai Embassy by cab prices vary depending on traffic. The hotel is good and has the Hard Rock Cafe attached to it- good food.

They provide a 1 way airport limo on the premier rooms..

But I refuse to surrender a passport anywhere.. They can look or copy but I hold my passport.

I was referring to when you hand it in with your application at the Thai embassy. They give you the normal receipt.

Another thing I remembered is that on my last trip my international Visa card would not work in any ATMs - I don't know why. Luckily I had brought enough Thai Baht to cover my out of hotel expenses.

The strange thing was that my card worked in the Hard Rock so I just ran a tab each day and paid at the end.I paid for my hotel at the end on the stay no problem.I have no idea why the Maybank ATMs would not accept the card.

Premier (read first class) rooms are way above the 2200 Baht price I quoted.

OK.. I am not on a visa run will be returning from a Bali run..

I think I saw the premier rooms with one transfer for sub 300... Not much preice difference and the transfer makes it worth upgrade perhaps..

Its not for a couple of months only when I was making my bookings I could either choose a travel that took ages including hours delay in airports ) or a night waiting in Changi) or a nice relaxed easy stop in KL.. What the budget flights saved means a night in KL and a few drinks and its still cheap and no stress..
