concerned about getting from phuket to phi phi
from what I hear- its a decent ride to the pier...then finding the right boat to take you to phi phi-- then the longtail boat to our resort. This all sounds difficult as I guess I am picturing nobody speaking english....anyone done this trip before? I am going a week before the high season so the speedboat is not an option.

Thousands have done this trip before. Its a major tourist attraction, so communication is not issue. Just enjoy the trip.

wont be a problem,they pick up up from hotel and drop u right at boat.
its a great trip and phi phi is very beautiful,make sure you swim with the fishes. many options for tours from phuket to phi phi and also Krabi area,just see one of the many tour stands and pick your trip dont book on internet before leaving home. english is spoken and in any tourist area you will be understood with just a little effort from yourself.

Relax.
I think you will be able to get everyone to understand you. And remember that their job is to drive the boat from Phuket to Phi Phi so I am pretty sure that they can figure out how to get you there. Most Thais in the tourism industry understand some english.
