Transfer Time, BKK-HKT f(from London)
Anyone here ever tried to connect onto one of the 16:35/16.45 flights from BKK -Phuket, after getting in on a London Eva Air flight that lands at 15:15 (September) ? What you reckon the chances of making that connection are, trying to avoid the 18.20 TG flight down ?
Cheers

That's tight. As IJ says immigration can be a headache, but you can easily lose an hour on the flight itself as well. I would use a later connection.

Way too tight. I wouldn't consider anything less than a 2hr difference between flights.
What it will be like when operations move to the new airport will be fun to see.

Looks like you could be cutting it very fine , if you have to do immigration , pick up luggage , transfer to Domestic Terminal and then check-in , chances are you'd miss your flight.
You could book the later flight , and if you're lucky and get through quickly , see if they can get you on earlier flight.

For the cheap airliens, one2go, Nok, Air Asia, their last flights are pretty much around 16.45, TG have later ones, and will probably book one of those once i clear Immigration, if i get out early will attempt the others. Trying to avoid getting stuck in BKK for the first night at all costs !

YOU have absolutely no chance of making that connection the eva air flight arrives at the busiest time of the day when i arrived in november at 1435pm i was met by ques of 100-150 deep at every immigration desk it took me 3 hours and 10 minutes from landing to be in a cab going into bangkok !

Have you looked at the Bangkokair timetable? Good airline,as good as Thai and a bit cheaper. Maybe they have a flight closer to your needs.

Would advise booking now , if there are no "low cost" ones running Thai will probably be very busy and you could get stuck.

Wow thats pretty severe, ive taken that flight many times, and never had that length of wait, Nov is high season though, Sept should be less busy, i tend to run off the plane and go for the queues towards the end of the hall which are shorter

Thats a fair enough comment..... I personally would spend a night in Bangkok and then get a next day afternoon flight down to Phuket.... besides a night at Lumpini stadium followed by Soi cowboy sounds not a bad idea..... Humm im getting thoughts now

Sounds like a plan! Nowt wrong with that.
My last connection BKK-HKT was a bloody nightmare. Then again it was Songkran and Thaiair had done thier usual of double booking every flight they had out of BKK.
I came in on Emirates out of Dubai (Sounds like a horse race! Well, similar actually!!) then to the transit desk (Do immigration at HKT and luggage booked through) "Sorry Mr Denver, no seats, fly tomollow" - "Solly Mrs ThaiAir, need seat, not willing to wait" - "OK, Gate 27, plane leave 3 minutes!"
So probably looking at doing a Cybernator next time and chill downtown for a night or two before a confirmed seat on my flight to Phuket.
PS I made my flight but realised I still sweat quite a lot for a fat bloke!
