Accommodation for my mum in Patong

Sorry to start another thread about hotels, but it’s kinda urgent. My mum arrives on the 3rd next month and will stay for 6 nights. I browsed through the sticky, but couldn’t see any hotels I really fancied.

Should be around 1000 a night with a pool and in a fairly quiet part of Patong, but still within walking distance to the beach. I’d actually prefer it not to be very GF, but not really important.

kalim bay is a nice place, north end of patong beach.
actually got a very small beach itself, but its not great, only 5 minute walk to patong beach, and very nice that end in high season months.......im 99% sure the steps down is a no go area right at the north end, seems to get pretty rough there, well was in the later months of last year.
there are some very nice hotels in kalim, new and old,a lot more on the high end of the scale, nice restaurants etc......

i stayed in a place called Sunset beach resort acouple of times, loved the place, but now i prefer to be closer to the action.
i think this place would be in your price margin as it will be lowseason.
highly reccomend this place,staff are/were great(probably changed by now,been a while)pooolside rooms were sweet, nice layout,clean.

sure u could find many nice hotels around that price range in low season if u search about,
hope this helps,
chok dee mofo.

Definately recommend this one for your Mum sundance.
1050baht for both deluxe and superior room from June 1st.
Click on the "supersaver button for that price.
Nice hotel, nice pool and very close to the beach.

Thanks Dawsey. Just worried about two things. Read somewhere that there were some noice there at nights/early mornings? Also, she stayed at Sun, Sea and Sand before, but complained about the mosquitos outside. Bits everywhere.

Well, I heard some rumours of construction work in the early mornings and music from bars / discos late at night. Now that the Croc is burnt down, it may not be an issue though.

Thinking about Salathai now, as I read some good reviews here. 1,300 a night.

have stayed at both and would be suitable bit away from bangla so bit quieter and would be great for your mum.

Try this one.

www.swisspalmbeach.com

Their low season rates are unbelieable. Nice 1 bedroom suites.

I stay here very time i go to Phuket.

Beach is just 5 minutes walk away.

Yes you could be right about that. They were just beginning to demolish it when I stayed, but I heard no noise at all.
One BM did say that it was a little noisy when he was staying in the bungalows.

If you can stretch to the Salathai rates,go for it,its a better hotel

I'd Let My Mum Stay Here

My girlfriend and I stayed at the K Hotel, for 8 nights a few days ago. We are in our 50's. We paid 1200B a night for deluxe. A bit of noise from disco a bit further up Ratathit Rd, but tolerable. Excellent pool, great food in Beergarden restaurant, close to Bangla. We will be staying there again next year....only 48 weeks to go.

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. I did consider something around Kalim (Merlin or Sunset like wylos recommend), but decided it was too far away from the shopping or just too expensive. Not really a vacation, more like a dental visit.

I ended up installing her in Salathai. I’ll write an entry in the accommodation sticky based on her experiences.

Smile

Patong Merlin is almost directly opposite the OPOP shopping Centre.

I have a lady friend who has just scouted out a few places for her next visit. She said Tony Resort and Sun Sea and Sand resorts were OK for her and her mum. They are both off Ratutit near Christians and are walking distance to the beach etc.
