Kamala Bay

Hi to all!
I need an advice about a Resort found in Kamala Bay... I have the web address, but I don't know if I can post it... can I?
anyway... this will be my first trip in Thailand, and I'm looking for a Resort/guesthouse or something similar where to stay!
is Kamala Bay so far from Patong? and how will I go there? there are taxi or tuk tuk or some other? or I have to rent a car?
If I rent a car can I drive with italian drive license?

thanks for all...

Hire a motorbike is best way to get around...150 baht/day or 1000 a week.

Never stayed there myself, but there was a review of it the guesthouse thread. Mostly positive.

But it is up on a hill, so you probably should rent a motorbike if you stay there. If not you should consider moving down closer to the beach / center.

http://www.kamaladreams.com/ is a very nice alternative.

Kamala is very quiet - instead of living there and using a motorbike to get over the mountain take a place in Patong and then you can walk to the bars.

Motorbikes and newbies and bars are not a good combination.

Well i think generally most italians have ridden a motorcycle at somepoint in their lives... But like Crustasian and Stevem said... If you don't have a motorbike license don't ride a motorbike here, especially if you're new to LOS, a tuk tuk from Kamala shouldn't cost more than 250 bht and could save your life... In almost the year that i've been here I've seen about 15 accidents, with my own eyes, and mostly farangs only one was a local thai lady... So if rentting a motorbike, BE CAREFUL!!!.... Plus just think 15 is the amount that i have seen, just imagine how many accidents happen that we don't see....

Thanks!

Thanks to all of u!
I think that, willling to see some beaches too, I'll rent a car just when I need it, and for the rest I'll take a taxi or a tuk tuk...

how far are the other beaches or something cultural from Kamala Bay or Patong? which things u think I should go to see?

Thanks again...
