Accomodation problem-small Thai house-bungalow
Hi
As some of you know I always stay in Karon. I rent a bungalow small house with seperate bedroom and small terrace. This all for 15.000 bath/month behind wat Karon, a relatively quiet area.
Now my landlord, Dutchmen, Jeff, is not renting them anymore, don't know if they are sold, or just rented long-term.
I have been looking the past week for an alternative. Browsed the internet, searched phuket gazette, went also on other forums, but it is a problem to find something decent for th period 15 December-3 rd January.
Most hotel, are much more expensive. I did found some guesthouses, fair price (still much more expensive/smaller), but not what I am looking for.
If someone has some sugestions, they will be welcome! I found this guesthouse, but like I said more expensive, and small:
http://www.southernfriedrice.com/home.html
and a biger one (but looks old!) with pool
http://www.sunrise-divers.com/kata_garden.htm
Price is ok, but room?
If anyone have sugestions, for the Karon-Kata area, they are welcome.
I had met last winter a very nice man on Kata beach, his name was John, with a Thai girl named Gail, who said he could find a better accomodation I had at the time. Maybe some expats know him, as he is almost all the time in Phuket. He is end 50, slim and haaandsome man. English. So if somebody know, how to get in contact with him, that is fine too!

Get on a bike and ride round. There are loads of places available to rent right now with signs on the walls.

I am not really sure of your requirements.. Are your bringing wife and kids and need a larger apartment space or is it you or you plus wife ?? Big difference between room hunting (which is not so tough) and apartment hunting which can be very rough for nice.
Also sorry to say but 15 Dec to 3 Jan is super peak as you know and not long enough to get any longer term discounts.
I am not really familiar with the Kata Karon places so much but its not an easy task to find a cheap apartment for those dates.

I have looked around abit, and narrowed my choice to these places..
Cool Breeze Bungalows.
Never heard of them, no pictures, on road to Kata Noi
Karon Hill Bungalow
Good, very good location, on the road Karon -Patong. Easy to go out in Patong and go to the beach somewhere else! But noisy road, do not know you hear it there, and pictures of bungalows are not very clear.
Diamond hill resort
Looks fantastic, big rooms, large windows, very modern and swimming pool. Very good prices, but....bad location, on the hill somewhere between Kata and Chalong circle. I know this road is very noisy and dangerous. Still considering, if you don't hear the noise, as I have a motorbike...
"CC Bloom's Hotel" Karon
Perfect location, not too far from Patong and the beach. The place looks "stunning". Prices much higher, but they are willing to make me a "special price" for their seaview-room. Not sure if it is girl-friendly!
If anyone got some info, on these places much appreciated!

Karon Hill is on a slope and I doubt you would hear the road.. I have only seen rooms there which at 500 baht were ok but you get what you pay for.. Dont know about pool ??

I think its the first one that a mate stays at (currently 500 baht a night big board outside) probably in one of the cheapest rooms as he uses it as a hide out when he fights with his missus.
Would mean it has a pool then but I have never ventured down it.. Only ever been there after dark to visit him and I was drunk..
Dont take any of that as definate as I am a bit confused now and the maps show them both being same area.. I will look at the names mroe closely when I next go past that way.

I have booked at the southern fried rice. The owner looks very nice, he will come to get me at the airport! I will not stay as long as you, but I think it has a good price!
And in the street some nice bars, they say! Why make it yourself difficult!
I am scared of motorbikes and I am close to everything!
