They do seem to have a problem answering their e-mails, though. A few people had problems getting a reply so I mentioned it when I was there and was met with typical teutonic incredulity(it is Austrian owned). When I pushed it they said that maybe it was the spam filter blocking things. I was going to ask if their spam filter blocked everything from England but didn't think it would go down well.

IMO Dont bother booking through the hotel itself, I found directrooms to have the cheapest price inc taxes and breakfast and quick to reply/ confirm bookings.Got sick of waiting for emails from all the hotels i tried to book myself.

Depends on how you look at it.. Sure its internet rack rates and good for high season but the deals right now are really good.

I know a resort on nanai with swimming pool and AC room and sat TV.. 6000 per month or 300 per night.. Buddies are using it as a ST hotel but its a proper, if low end, resort.. Its not the ritz, its cheapish thai furniture etc but 6k a month for an AC room with pool, do that through roomsdirect. I think thier fan room (still with pool obviously but no Sat TV) is 3k baht per month.

Especially post tsunami when I wanted the money to go to the local economy I usually get a good internet price and e-mail the hotel and ask them to match it which they almost always will. That way none of the money goes to the middle man which could be anywhere.

For me a pool is a real necessity.. I like to nurse hangovers in the pool and poolside.. I know Those Sansabai hotels have Baan Benjamins and now the Tai Life place but its not as close as a hotel that has it..

Also I have never been so enamoured with staying down near Bangla.. I like to have my own wheels and sort of prefer the quieter side of town.

My Veiws....K Hotel

My GF and I stayed there for 8 days last month. I also had trouble with emails, so I phoned them to find out some details. I think the reason that emails are not quickly replied to, is the owner is/was away, and the reception (which is part of the bar in the beergarden) is staffed by Thais who's English is not too good, and they are being taught German. I would highly recommend the hotel. Do not be put off by poor communication. The food in the restaurant was great, and the kitchen is spotless. Rooms are clean and cool, and pool is great. Within 50m of Bangla Road. Only downside, no tea/coffee facility in room. We booked via passionasia for 1st 4 nights, then extended direct to hotel at the same rate. 1200b for deluxe. There were many single males staying, so I guess its girl friendly.
