Just spotted this one whilst looking for flights for next trip.

Yep, just another alternative, but making BMs aware of the prices that are currently available.
Not everyone is aware of all the booking sites that are on the web. This is just another that is considerably cheaper than some others.

When I was hunting for my mum.. I found a few links to a regular Sing air flight.. Non Stop to Sing, then silk air to Phuket with good connection times, 379 plus tax.. All the advantages of Singapore air, Changi Airport, avoiding any BKK new airport chaos, etc.

I personally thought that was a good deal for Sing Air flights.

Thats a bit of a price jump........ Isnt that false advertising.... I could be wrong but i am not sure they are allowed to say its 490 odd then jack up the price over 5 times the price...

sounds like a hiccup some where .

I booked my flight through ebookers.com or you could also look at travelsupermarket.co.uk

Thats a great price for Singapore Airlines LL, usually asking for around £600 /£660 from LHR -HKT inc taxes.

So did you book it ......
Qatar seem to be a bit 'funny' when booking - I suspect their booking engine is unavailable a lot so it reverts to full fare.
That said they are a top class airline, and as I think I've posted before they do have one or two very accomodating stewardesses
I found the best fares with them using www.opodo.co.uk and specifically selecting Qatar Airways.

Sing do occaisionally have good deals, though they tend to offer them more to couples (or two travelling together), but I've never found one that allows more than a one month stay.
They are my preferred airline to HKT but not always possible ....

I am 99% sure that was a 3 month deal.. Needed nearly 2 months for my mum and it was valid..

I was surprised to see it at that price as I keep hearing good things about Sing and my housemate who fly a lot for work rates them really highly.

Don't happen to recall where you saw that deal do you Sef'?
I'm looking at the moment for next Songkran but fancy I will have to wait until Sep/Oct for the new deals to start.

Sing don't really have 'secret' deal so it'd down to you how close you book.
It's prob worth looking at you travel patterns to how often you fly and on which airlines to see if you can leverage a 1 flight free in 4 or something like that.

It was using the cheapflights.co.uk or affordableflights.co.uk sites.. Just basically scanning..

Cant get anything like that on Sing now as I just tried..

Not that it's any consolation, but I know a few people who are quite senior at Emirates. We were out for a drink the other night (world cup live on TV, corporate hospitality, prawn sandwiches agogo) and I asked them how they, or any other airline, figures out their pricing and how come it varies so much from airline to airline and day to day. Genuinely, unless there was some major conspiracy of silence, none of them had a clue!

Having said that, there must be people at any airline who fix the prices for flights. You can't just leave it to the cleaning lady, or maybe they do. It's quite interesting. I'll try to find out more about how it works and will post again.

But SIMON, that price you got that jumped from 400 to nearly 3,000. I'd be willing to bet that it turned out that economy flights were full so it automatically priced it for business class, but it didn't tell you that. No airline on earth would charge that much for economy.

Not yet anyway! A few more test missiles from North Korea, a bit more sabre rattling from Bush, and who knows where the oil price will go.

had a look at yer website roger and its a load of sh1t..no offence buddy.

phoned the company up,refered to the deals on the website, feck all available, the woman said to get these deal u have to book well in advance.so why are they still there, and even have the "valid for sale until " bit, even questioned her about the PP deal, same reply.......mega dear otherwise......well compared to what there offering.
sorry if im coming across strong, but it was not just that site that gave me the cold shoulder.
seems the deals will come back ( ,already price drop)late in aug early september from what i see and hear.
by the way im not planning a trip

low season-peak season but for what country?

flights seem dear at the mo because of summer hol day time here in uk,which is classed as peak season here(for hols/flights).
but when i travelled to LOS in march trips, which is high season for LOS,ive had some wicked deals,400-430.
dunno where im going with this one, just felt like having a rant.i dunno,5555

i suppose the only time other than this, is Xmas time which is obviously high season for all, heard of some silly priced flights.
well thats all i gotta say on the matter.

Andy50, leaving it to just a week before flying out to book you're going to be hardpushed to get anything for less than 600 pounds. You need to book a month or more in advance to get the really good deals. Best I can find leaving in a weeks' time is ChinaEastern at 581 via PU DONG

Direct, EVA AIR are 640.
