September in Phuket

THinking about coming over in September, is the weather going to be complete crap? Someone please define monsoon season, here in Florida we are in the middle of the Hurricane season and it is bright and sunny almost everyday until a tropical system moves in. Same in Thailand or is it cloudy and rainy all day, everyday? I am bringing my girl this time and she wants to see Patong and Phi Phi. Any input (besides leaving her at home!),

Was in Phuket for 3 weeks last September. I had terrific weather. Almost 90% sunshine. Although it did rain for about 3 days straight which sucked.
Other than that it was beauuuuuuuuuuuutiful!! I think it is more near the end of Sept start of Oct that has more rain.

Either way, the nightlife will always be fun rain or clear skies!

Cheers,

Ashley

If you're lucky the weather could be nice as ashley said... At the moment the weather hasn't been too kind on the tourists, although it has looked like clearing up these past few days. Heard the weather in Phi Phi was much nicer than Phuket at the moment could be the same in Sept but i'm not a weather man... Some places you might want to add to your trip, Koh lanta and krabi. But again only if the weather permits... Rainy season here generally means exactly what it says, its a lot of rain...

But then again it also doesn't mean its going to rain everyday all day... If it rains everyday it will generally be in spurts. Say on average 2 - 3 hours but sometimes it can piss pour for 30 - 45 mins and the sun will comes back out... Then rain again, then sun... You get the picture by now...

I have stayed in Phuket two times in September/October, and that was in 1998 and 2001. Except for an hour or two with daily rain I had beautiful weather both times. But when you spend your holiday with a beautiful TG, who cares about the weather?

Thanks for the good info, I think we"ll give it a shot. At least she'll get a good taste of Thai food and see the what a great country it is. We'll have Phi Phi to ourselves as I image it's pretty quiet in September.
