travel from Bkk to phuket
hi guys,
this is my first post, great reading so far.
just wanted a few (more experinced) opinions on the best way to get from bangkok airport to phuket.
my flight arrives at 20:55 on a saturday.
I can't find any direct flights leaving after that time. should i wait untill morning and fly or bus/taxi/minivan that night.
Really looking forward to my trip and any help would be much appriciated.

My suggestion would be to stay the night and if you've never seen bangkok before, have a look around, many great places to see and many things to do. The Suan Lum night market for one... The crazy shows at Patpong. Depends on what your interests are. Look at bkktonite.com and bangkok2nite.com for more info...
There are loads of flights everyday from bangkok to phuket so no worries.

Would it be best to shop around bangkok airport for a flight to phuket...
Or is it better/cheaper to buy a ticket online with one of the local airlines ?

I SUSPECT it would be cheaper to get a flight at the airport, esspecially when the flight is close to take off and there are spare seats available. But don't take my word for it... Other bm's might be more 100% on their answers..

All depends. If your flying into Bangkok on Thai then checkout buying a thru fare to Phuket. This saves you worrying about the transfer and your baggage. You clear C&I in Phuket

www.airaisa.com
www.nokair.com
These sites are for airlines from Bangkok to Phuket .
Nokair and Air aisa are cheapest so you may not save any money

Thanks for all the good info fellas... checked the posted airline websites & found quite a variation in prices! - Nok air sounds good
Did I read something here earlier about thai air no longer flying to phuket?

I certainly hope so!
also on the subject of flights an excellent website is skyscanner.net
it takes all the leg work out of checing multiple low cost carriers, doesn't have evrywhere on there but does have bkk to hkt.

Can't speak for the other two,but Asia Airport Hotel is OK. Took around 15mins through heavy traffic on the elevated road to get there. Only 5mins drive back early morning though. About 1200baht IIRC.
