Phuket Thailand

I'm looking at some really great prices from LA into Phuket, 700.00usd+tax in September but I have a question. The flight is China Airlines LAX to Taipei then into BKK, the next link is Thai Air from BKK to Phuket. Will I have to clear customs at BKK to board the Thai Air flight?

Anyone ever done this multi airline segments?

I did that flight back in March, and yes you must clear customs in BBK.. The only bad thing is, the flight gets into BBK at 1:30AM so it is like 2:30 by the time you get your bags and clear customs, and then first flight to Phuket with Thai Air is 7:00AM so you have to sit around the airport and there is nothing open, and it doesn't give you enough time to head downtown BBK. Make sure you stop in at 7-11 when you are walking from international terminal over to the Thai air terminal, that is the only food and beer you will get till 7:00AM..

Thats what I was afraid of, thanks for the confirmation Gman. I think I am going to go with a different option, slightly more expensive but it puts me into Bkk during the day.
