C&N, Casa Summer Breeze, Yorkshire Inn, Expat, Patong Villa, Thara Patong, all seem to be within stumbling distance and get used by BM's a lot..
Do you have a price range ?? Do you need a pool ?? What level of luxury v price is important to you ??

You asked for hotels close to the bars.. Those hotels are all guest friendly (I think) and close to the bars.
The main bar area is in Patong and called Bangla Rd. Thats where theres 100's of bars and 1000's of girls.

Also try K & N hotel?
Only minutes away, read recent thread by Talbotman and has its own pool
Also K Hotel is close, again with nice pool. The higher price rooms look a lot better than the cheap ones
