Thumbs down Quantas = British Airways

Quantas does a lot of code sharing with British Airways out of London.

I personally will not use BA ( = Bad Attitude) again.

The Quantas staff also seem to have an "attitude problem".

There are better and cheaper options.

You would still be connecting through London , so lots of other airlines you could use. ie;

Etihad
Thai
Emirates

OK, being OZ I'll jump into this, it is QANTAS there is no 'U' in it. It is not a word it is an abbreviation meanng

Queensland
And
Northern
Territory
Aerial
Services

And it is the oldest airline in the english speaking world and the second oldest in the world behind KLM.

Personally I find the service QANTAS to stand up to the other abbrevations widely used down here

Quick
And
Nasty
Typically
Australian
Service

They do have a BKK crew base of Thai nationals, so there are a few Thai's onboard, but you would better off using SQ via SIN or EK via DXB.

You could fly to heathrow from Newcastle with a cheap carrier Bmi , Easy jet etc .

Then check out www.airlinenetwork.co.uk if you went 23/9/6 rtn 7/10/6 then it would cost £465 to phuket change at Bangkok or £426 just to bangkok direct .

Have a look

I fly from Newcastle and use China Airlines(CI) via Amsterdam, the downside being forced to use the worst airline in the world, AKA KLM, to get from NCL to AMS, though included in the price.
However, my travel agent tells me that CI are constantly putting up prices and giving less and less for it. I hasd to use them this time as I had a one way upgrade to business class but they now won't let me pay to fly back business class like they used to, except at a ridiculous extra price. The quality of the CI flight is good, though, and lands at BKK at about 7am which is good. Bad timing is the return flight, leaving BKK at 2.45am, especially if you need a flight to BKK to start your journey.

In short, I would say for business class use China. For economy use Qatar, Thai or Emirates from London(although not if it goes from Gatwick which Qatar might). The basic price is cheaper and you can get a cheap flight to LHR if booked well in advance but the train to Heathrow(except for current landslides!!) is a PoP and cheap. Car and off-site parking also ok.

Thats not quite right. There was the Bangkok overrun, which should have been a hull writeoff but they paid heaps to keep it on the books. They have had hull losses and fatalities, but none in the jet era.

I used to fly in regular and their plane was still in the gravel at the end of the runway - what an advert.

Of all the carriers I have flown with, and bearing in mind my personal preferance not to transit the Mid East, I prefer BA\Qantas over any other.

The flight times are good, the in-flight entertainment is good, the food is ok and you won't be marooned if there is a technical problem or some such. If I could afford to, I would fly BA\Qantas every time.
