Pasta Fresca Italian Restaurant

This tour out I decided to try a LiL suggestion for Italian (3 times actually) as the only one I really like is in Soi Saen Sabai near the start (top of Bangla) on the left hand side.......I think its called Pizza #1 or something like that......anyway good pizza (gotta go the thin crust) + pasta there.........

Pasta Fresca is a pretty newish place down on Thawewong Rd between Sawasdirak + Patong Beach Rd near the Saxaphone club......it is owned by 2 Italian guys Michele + Paolo and they have done a great job training the Thai staff who really pump out great food and service........

The pizzas are all under BHT200 and very authentic.........lovely thin crispy crusty base fresh from the pizza oven and a great selection of true Italian toppings..........IMHO the best in Patong.........well that I have tried anyway

The fresh hand made pasta is soft, velvety + luscious and IMHO unbeatable in Patong..........and the salads are crispy and crunchy......and the garlic bread heaven........it's truly an Italian experience......

Pretty decent Wine from Italy + Chile + Australia goes down well with the food and in short............I would be very happy to have this place on a nearby corner at home........I would use it a couple of times a week and be very happy!!!!

Give it a try if you like good Italian food!!........

Nels.....

Sounds good!

Sounds good, but you're making me hungry. I guess I need to make a list of all the good restaurants so I know which ones to try when I get there.

Have to agree that they make very decent pizzas and pastas, Definately one of the better places in Patong. Still room for improvement though... Pizzas lacking a bit of toppings, crust is great though.

Seeing that they have already been able to build up a decent trade I suggest they start replacing the terrace furniture inside with some real furniture. The restaurant looks real cheap with plastic gtables and chairs and has no charm whatsoever, except the open kitchen.

But again, good food!

Just to add. Reading this made me hungry...

For phuket town try Salvatore's. Owner is an Italian guy named Salvatore (your typical sterotype fat italian with a moustache) very accommodating fellow. Food is excellent, best italian in phuket IMHO. Haven't tried the other two, but will check them out and revise my best in phuket theory.

Pizza#1 in Sansabai is a Thai couple. But they make very good pizza's. My pref in Patong is Ricco (or Capri) in the soi where you have King's Fashion on Beach road (first soi to the North comming from Bangla). I also liked the Regatta in Meridien Yacht Club, but don't know if it still excists.
I will try the new one mentionned here.

Sounds good...have to give it a go when we need a pizza or pasta hit when we're there...

Like the sound of Salvatores as well...the owner/chef sounds the ticket...sounds as though should be very authentic...

I also had a bit of a Pad Thai tour over the last couple of weeks...........

Tried about 6 or 7 joints........some cheap.....like the street stall at the end of Soi King Fashion (yes its a good soi for food)....some expensive like those places down on beach rd with the terrrible singers...........

best + still my fave is restaurant #6 just on Rat U Thit.........turn left at top of Bangla........about 200 metres on left...........if you get to the seafood restarants you've gone too far..........

I like mine with prawns + chicken..........40bht in #6.........

As Ozskin pointed out be sure to make it clear that you want prawns + chicken in one dish or you wil be likely to get 2 pad thais........one with chicken and one with prawns....55555

Mrs Dodger swears by a street stall just near the corner Sai Nam Yen + Nanai......I reckon that's what got the ball rolling on the birth of the new addition to the Dodger crew.......it's s spicey one!!!!........55555

anyone else got a favourite Pad Thai joint?????

My friends keep telling me to go to Salvatore's, not made it yet and may not as I took them to Capannina in Kata (at group of restaurants at the southern end of Kata) and now they said don't bother going! Mate said he will take his missus there on the first night she is back.

Really is top-notch Italian food. Pizza'a are great, thin crust and even the medium is big enough for most. Friends have eaten the Veal and said it is to die for. Another good one is the Caprese..the mozarella is awesome, not the usual rubbish you get here. I've been there 3 times now, and loved everything I've had each time.

Good wine and desserts too, not that pricey either..Highly recommended!

Nels...I am in the market for the best Pad Thai!!!!!!!!! And will have to try some of these joints you mention...

I can mention a good one and that is up Hasip Pee Road..up the mountain at the back of Patong in a restaurant called "Tavern On The Hill"...I gotta say I had the best Pad Thai there...it was to die for...

The view was great too...we sat at the back of the restaurant and looked over a jungle view which was about 50 meters down to the floor of the jungle...looking into the mountain....quite wild...

Was a farang owner with a thai wife cooking in the kitchen...was a really great experience...

Yep, #6 is definitely one of the better places for Thai food. Always use it as my breakfast joint. The view of C&N over the road is not bad either, watching all the girls come out from the night before

One dish I will recommend, as I just don't ever eat Pad Thai, is the Por Tak (sp?), similar to Tom Yum Seafood, but so so much better, bloody spicy too. Lost count of the times other punters would ask what it was so they could order it!

haven't been up there Marcia.......but sounds like a good spot!!!

You will save a bit of cash if you eat at #6...........BHT40.........what's that $AUS1.50.....and it's just around the corner from Summer Breeze!!

Also endorse Syeaty's comments on Por Tak at #6........but whoa don't take it on unless you like spicey!!

I was having pad thai for breakfast ...well brunch anyway.....on the days I wasn't diving this tour....can't bring myself to eat bacon + eggs in LOS....dunno why.......too hot.......not tasty enough....too ordinary.....plus I hate that sweet white toast shi'ite......can't eat it!!!!

the pad thai that even the locals talk about is just by the airport, about 300m before the entry to the car park, at the corner of the soi,on the airport side of the road. quite some distance from patong but if you do really like pad thai, perhaps on the way home can stop by for a sampling. cheers.

Yeah, it's very similar to Tom Yum Seafood, but made slightly differently. To be honest the missus has said that the Po Dtak (another sp?) in #6 is not really authentic, I've had it in other places and it was quite different, but I do actualy prefer the one in #6 more.

It comes with prawns, squid, a bit of crab and the ususal suspects in Thai soups...I love it. The staff don't even ask me when I come in, and they even serve it up with the extra wedge of lime that I like to add.

I've only just got up and the missus has gone over to Patong without me already so I can't get to #6 for a Por Dtak
