BKK to Pattaya

Guys,

I'm looking at a trip to Bangkok this autumn and am toying with the idea of visiting Pattaya for a couple of days.
Can anyone tell me how far Patts is from say BKK airport by taxi? Couple of hours perhaps??
How much should I expect to pay?
Any other means of transport (train or coach)?

And yes.... I have used the search function but failed to get any useful info

Thanks in advance

BKK-Pattaya must be about 2 hours. Airport to Pattaya not sure, also a bit over 2 hours from present airport, but probably as from 28 september less than 2 hours from new BKK airport.

A man called Mr. Toom does a service from the airport to your hotel in Pattaya for just 1200 baht including tolls. The car is small but clean and new and the service is fine. I used it the other week - only tiny problem was that I didn't see the driver with my name on a board when I first arrived, but I called the mobile number I was given and she found me 30 seconds later.

I suggest you book well in advance then send another email a couple of days before to re-confirm.

Here's the email address:

toom39@msn.com

For some reason, getting a car back from Pattaya to BKK is much cheaper - there are loads of places that offer it there and there's no need to pay more than 850 baht, plus the tolls which come to 110 baht altogether. I booked mine from a little stall right outside the Lek Hotel on 2nd road, near soi 13.

Bon voyage!

Last time all taxi driver said 1800 Bath, when you start to leav and go to another thay say 1500 Bath. But if you say no and go to next taxi driver you can get it for 1200 bath includ tax for highway. If you go to the taxi que and wait for a normal taxi meter it cost around 900 bath + tax for the high way. But somethimes you have to wait there for 30 min or so. And is that worth save 200 bath insted of pay 1200 bath and just jump in the car....

You can also go by coach from Ekamai bus station in Bangkok (easy to find), they run every half hour until late and is dirt cheap, cost about 90 baht if I remember right. The downside is you likely need to add another 100 say for taxi/skytrain to the station from bangkok hotel and then taxi/motosai to your hotel in pattaya. Journey time is also a little longer but still under 2 1/2 hours, but then I guess you have to factor in waiting for the coach etc if time is important to you.
