How is domestic airport security?

I'm flying Phuket to Bangkok next week. I want to bring my laptop, but not if they're going to make me stuff it in check-in luggage. Dear god, who would trust a laptop to those gorillas?

Has anyone been through Phuket or Bangkok Airport since the recent crackdown on bottles of gatorade? Are they enforcing draconian security measures on domestic flights?

Thanks Faulty. Good link. I nosed around airline websites but I never checked THAI. On a budget, you know.

Anyone else noticed that Nok Air's shopping link is called the 'Nok Smile Shop'? Somebody must have warned them about English slang...

Also checked out Heathrow site , just to be sure everything was OK.

Same basic rules , but one struck me as funny , Cigarette lighters are banned from hand luggage but "safety matches" are fine. I guess there are different types of fire !!!!!

Got this one from the Daily Telegraph site , it cracked me up !!!!

Quote:
Birmingham airport's website said it was still allowing passengers to take lipstick on board. However, it explicitly banned gel-filled bras.

As well they should. Are they doing anything about breast implants? Hate those things...

Passed out through BKK yesterday. Two minor changes to security in evidence:

1) Perfunctory wave of the magic wand between passport control and departure area.

2) Body search and hand search of all carry-on at departure gate, about ten people . They found a tube of superglue I had forgotton was in a side pouch and confiscated it but allowed my nasal spray after I used it in front of them.

Laptop went through X-ray in the carry-on rucksack.

Just been told I have to go to Oklahoma next month - not looking forward to that trip

Well when i came back from bkk i only had hand luggage. Completely thinking everything was ok because when i went to bkk from here there were no problems. They took away my all my toiletries and told me i'd get it back when i touched down in Phuket. So if you have gel, toothpaste, and shaving cream, deo... etc you better check it in. Didn't have any problems bringing my lighter on board though... Laptop won't be a problem as i walked straight through with mine.
