EVA air are doing specials on their website for direct flights to BKK when booked over next weekend. With prices at about £440 in economy, £600 in Prem econ(not worth it!) and £1200 in business.
Also STA travel has Thai econ flights to BKK for £430 at the moment! But dates of departure and numbers are low!

Roger
So you didn't elect to go via Dublin then
Qatar just finished an offer a couple of days ago for £375 flight from LHR (or £1175 business ) but not sure when you could fly up until.
What dates are you looking at (i assume Songkran), and I'll keep an eye out.
As an aside because of other committments I missed the offer for 1000baht/night at the Bangkok Conrad in the presidential suite!!!!!!

Dates Im looking for are 27/3 -16/4 Steve
The one Im really waiting for is the Etihad offer I got for this Songkran,£461 to HKT all taxes paid
Ouch,what a bargain to miss

£461 was probably exceptional!
Qatar are similar price to Singapore , as are BA/Qantas (£492) which would be a direct flight then a cheapy to HKT .....
Something to consider - the offers won't start for a month or two ......
Also need to consider mileage programs - Qatar is one of the best in respect to have family members. - don't ignore this can mean one flight in ...four(ish).... is free.

Im thinking the same too Steve. Take the cost of the BangkokAir flight [£70] off that price and it was a bargain. I got it through ebookers, around mid Oct so I will hold on just in case. I rather like Etihad as a carrier too, along with the short stop at AUH for the duty frees.
I already have a Q card for airmiles with Qatar from a previous trip with them,so if the Etihad deal doesn't come about,it looks like they will be the preferred airline. I'll look into getting the whole family on it.
What I do want is a short stop in any of the ME countries,Doha,Abu Dhabi or Dubai as I find it breaks the long journey up nicely. So that counts out Singapore,BA/Qantas,Malaysian and Thai.

It's not quite straightforward - give me a couple of mins and I'll type out the instructions.

www.expedia.co.uk
Select "flight and hotel"
select "more destinations"
leaving from: LON
going to: BKK
departing: 27/03/07
returning: 16/04/07
select "i only need a hotel for part of my trip"
hotel check-in: 15/04/07
hotel check-out: 16/04/07
rooms: 1
adults: 3 (i assume)
then click on search
order results by price.
(if you go on from there don't forget to deslect trip insurance).
And there you have it:
£401 from LGW

No problem, leaves just about enough left out of £460 to fly Thai business class to Phuket
Edit: That would only be enough for a one way biz ticket ...... maybe not a bad idea

OK All booked up now £406 each
Had to fiddle around with the hotel booking as there are 4 ?children with us aged 16,17,18,19 and they dont accept reservations from under 18's.
Got over it though messing about with allocation.
Right, off to BKKAir now for BKK-HKT tickets. Think I'll not bother with biz class on Thai, the trip is too short
Once again Steve, many thanks for your help here.I owe you a few beers

No problem at all Roger, glad I could help, don't forget to get to get them all enrolled as family members in your Qmiles account - should be about enough for one free ticket next time.

Try Nok Air's "Nok Plus" not Business Class but it does have the bigger seat. Approx THB4500.00 per person which is about £65 - same as Thai Air's Economy price

Any idea if you can book as far ahead as Mar/Apr 07?
Air Asai,One2Go, and Nok Air websites only go up to Mar 07 so I can't put in my return date.
Maybe have to wait one month I am guessing.
Thai Air economy BKK - HKT has gone up a fair bit, quoting me 6600baht return
BangkokAir doesn't have the dep times I'm looking for.

NOK Air currently fly 3 times a day BKK/HKT (in both directions) but you can only book 3/4 months in advance on their website. At the moment up to 14th Jan 2007.

Cheers
