Phuket to Moon festival in 05/11 best way?
we are landing in phuket on the 3/11 , will sort out a hotel or a rented accomodation , chill out 1 day on the beach and then we would like to go to the full moon festival near Ko Samui taking place on the 05/11. I could not find much info about the best way to get there from phuket . Any tips ? should we be flying or taking a boat from Phuket harbour ?
we are 3-5 people ( some may not be interested in going ) and have been to phuket before but have never done any moon festival .
thanks so much and You will find me @ MTB first night of arrival and a drink is on me . Green t-shirt with a lovely smile on it.
enjoy and have a great time.

To get to KPG you can go overland from phuket to Surat Thani and take a boat minibus companys exist that will do the whole thing on one ticket price or fly to Samui and take a small boat / long tail or speedboat..
But be warned finding anywhere to stay around haad rin in the 3 days before the FMP is really tough..
You could always head to samui (both by the same overland or plane routes) and just use a speedboat to go to Koh Phan Gan for just the night of the FMP.. Returning to Samui in the morning / dawn after and crashing at a samui hotel.

Thank you . Just found out that a flight to ko samuis with bankog airways is around 3000 bath return so not bad at all .....would you know how much it is to go by bus and by boat with a package trip booked from phuket ? 3000 bath is quite cheap and only takes around 45 minutes flight so my go this route. Hotels : if nothing is available I don't mind sleeping on the beach for 1 night and then relax in Kata ....
can not wait anymore . I sleep with my eye open and tell everyone and try to convince even more people to join in this mini holiday.
Enjoy and thanks again.

mini-bus and boat can cost between 450 - 600b,so a hell of a lot cheaper, but way more time consuming,it will take u a good part of a day,and no doubt some waiting around, ive done the bus a fair few times as i had time on my hands,if the minibus boat trip was a garunteed set time(nothing is 100% in this world, spec LOS)then i would think twice, but a shorter stay........i would defintely use the plane.

Uahooo 600 bath sounds quite cheap , should leave us 2500x3 = 7500 on booze there ....and during the journey ....How long will it take you recon ? from point A ( phuket , Kata ) to point B( moon festival near the biggest speakers ? ) ......
inclusive off delays ?
maybe fly out there one way and do the return via boat / bus / ?
thank you .

they say its ment to be 6 hours tops, only once i think we almost cleared that.
expect some running around patong, karon, kata before u even get started, maybe a change over inbetween once the drivers know were u going,u arrive at surathani should be around 4 hours drive from patong or thereabouts, change there, expect some waiting for other buses to turn up,then another 40 or so mins to the port by coach, can get boat straight to koh phangan, about an 1hour or so boat trip.
if u add it up between your group then yeah u are making a big savin especially by thai standards, but the question is can u take it.....can u 5555555
good luck in your travels whatever u decide, wont think any less of u either way, hehe,
chok deee mofo
