THAI airways SYD asking for onward ticket

I just flew back to BKK from Sydney on the second half of a return ticket. The check-in staff asked for proof of an onward ticket out of Thailand. What I did was make a reservation through a Bangkok travel agent on a THAI flight out of Thailand and printed off the emailed itinerary and showed them that. I'm not sure I will take the flight I reserved, but it made I think it eliminated a lot of hassle at the airport. Probably helped that it was on THAI as well, since she almost decided to look it up in the system.

Just a tip in case you are heading to Thailand without a ticket out of Thailand.

Sydney international checkin, not just TG but all airlines, has ALWAYS for as long as I can remember, required proof of onward travel when no visa is held. I once checked in with a BKK/PEN ticket which had expired 3 days earlier, I was made to purchase another one before being checked in.

This is nothing new at Sydney, but from reports being made on this board, it is starting to be enforced even around SEA.
