I've read in The Nation that the code for Suvarnabhumi will change to BKK in the upcoming months but I have no idea concerning the date the change will be effective.

From the 28th, Suvarnabhumi will become BKK and Don Muang will be DMK.

Brewhouse ?
I wonder if Brewhouse will move to Suvarnabhumi too? As far as I now, it was the only brewery located in an airport.

Pretty awful sounding post above on the new places effective readyness...
Its one thing to be half cocked with only a handful of planes coming in but if tonight is the old switcheroo then things like no water services etc will just cause major hassles..
Reports for the next week should be interesting.

Thanks for this info (it's confirmed that Don Muang will be DMK tomorrow).
Not so long time ago, I read in The Nation that the code switch will happen not happen on the 28th in case of rollback to Don Muang. It seems that there are more confident now.

The IATA code BKK is really a mute point of whether it referes to either airport, as all CRS's will just utilise BKK regardless. The main problem is the use of the ICAO code VTBD in navigation and which nav aid that translates to.

I tried the same trick at AUH last trip, still 30mins to take off,and the boarding officials of Etihad were NOT pleased when I insisted I go into duty free instead of the dep lounge.. Took a bit of persuasion, but they relented when I left the wife and daughter as deposit until my return
Maybe have to try it again,as I certainly don't mix in the same circles as you business class guys

Looks like the move never went too smoothly few problems with baggage and computers.
Here's a quote for you
"The delay was caused by the delay of moving Thai Airways ground handling equipment from the old airport to the new one," said Chotisak Asapaviriya, president of Airports of Thailand, which operates the facility.
"It's just a minor error, and it will be the only one. We will never let this happen again,"
He says we will never let this happen again?????
Are they moving again?????

My brother just arrived after coming through.. His flight worked out but he says the place looks very unfinished.. Bits not tiled, many shops just being built, whole areas look unpainted / raw plaster..
Other comments were its MUCH longer getting out of town, access also not ideal (going from major road to minor roads and then looping round the airport), was worried he didnt leave early enough as they circled the large airport.
On the plus side he says clean, large, airy, looks like it will grow into it well.. In a few months it should all be fine.

From the US - Yes. Each item must be under 3oz and all items together must be packed in a clear resealable "Ziploc" back, not to exceed 1 qt. When you pass through security screening the bag must be removed from the luggage.

Do you mean at a US airport?
I'm wondering about a flight purely within Thailand, eg BKK to Chiang Mai

Just realized I answered the wrong question. The latest update on the THAI site states that you cannot (last updated Aug 12): About THAI
I called THAI in the US. They said that it would be OK, but still encouraged to check with the airport ... meaning they don;t really know.

By all reports sure sounds like they had a more successful first day than HKG and KUL had, of course there will be problems. Have heard that the premium lounges arent ready, thats could hurt them with the business travellers.

Absolutely no problems at all: I was there 2 weeks ago and no problems to carry 2 bottles of water, Listerine and sun cream in my hand luggage.
I have seen no change in the way hand luggage are checked.

Nice and interesting report. Look at the pictures and you will se that the number of seats is a potential problem.
