Only partly helpful....

I had a virtually new Honda car booked direct via Sunhill hotel in my last visit at the price of a cheap and cheerful jeep in many places.

The car was top quality for trips around the island. Unsure on quality of insurance as didn't have a bump - any insurance is only as good as post-bump service.

You could mail Sunhill and ask which company they use or if they can order a car on your behalf even if your nor resident there?

Don't forget to checkout the "Big Boys" like Hertz, Avis, Euro-car, etc. I have read many terrifying stories about insurance on rental vehicles (mostly two wheelers) in Thailand. If the rare is just a bit mode, you can take greater comfort in their insurance.

Send a message via ICQ to Nicke
I would go for Budget, reasonable priced. They can also deliver and pickup at your hotel.

on the german travel page FTI - URLAUB ORANGE! you get very competitive prices for AVIS. They start at around 1000 Baht for a Honda City, with CDV included.
