Lamai Hotel
Hi all,
I made my hello in the noob' area saying hi to all and giving you a run down on me and my trip soon.
What I am after is if anyone has any bad or good news on this hotel..
phuketdelight.com - Phuket hotels and resorts - Lamai Hotel - Pictures and Facilities
I have just got an email back and I have two rooms on hold for about another 24hours under a pre booking and just want some last minute info if anyone has any. I am heading to Bali in 6 days for 44 days and when I get back to OZ I only have 10 days and then I am off to Phuket for 27days.
So I want to pay for my housing now since I will be away till it is time to go to Thailand. I am booking it for 14 days and then after that I will be taking each day at a time and might head to Bangkok.
It sounds ok and 1200 baht a night for double bed and Aircon and fridge and bathroom and the key point no extra charge for visitors over night
I am not looking for a palace just a clean place nice and close that the staff are nice and friendly.
Only one person has left a message on the site there and it was about a bit of noise but I normally drink till I die so it's all good for me
Plus it looks close to the main night road but just enough away.
Any info would be great and look forward to meeting BM's at mai tai bar or similar spelt bar sorry 5555 just getting used to Thai words and spelling

Lamai|
Stayed there in january 2006. Booked for 21 days but left after 3 days. Not worth the money i reckon.
Book it for acouple of nights and have a look around. Many other decent places cheaper.

I haven't stayed there mate, but I had a look at their prices, and in that price range you might also want to have a look at C&N Hotel.
I was quoted 1200 THBt (high season) and 1500 THB (peak season).
Might just be a bit nicer.

Thats not the sort news I was wanting to hear 55555'
But thanks a lot john norway for your help.
I just been having a look in this area and reading about the sea breaze but its a little more expensive than lamai but maybe I should dig deeper for a place that so many recommend.
So if I stay in lamai a few nights you think you can find other places off the street at a fair price? I was wondering but as I need some where there for sure from the 1st Dec' to 15 dec' and it is christmas time that places will book full soon so I did not want to leave it to the last minute.
Will give it another 12 hours for some feed back before I make a choice.
Thanks mate

Thanks Bello Uomo
I am just about to chase up C & N and have a look at it mate thanks.
I do not mind paying a little more but just do not plan on spending to much time in a room to need a flash one only at late night with my visitors
Does that one let you have visitors do you know?
Thanks

I am in Phuket the same time as you, and I've got accomodation locked in. It is a busy time in December and it a bit risky to be leaving it til very late or once you get there.
Like I said before, have a look at C&N Hotel. Lot of guys on this site stay there, it is a better location than Lamai Inn in my opinion, and its the same price as Lamai. It is close to Bangla Rd (less than 100 metres), which has advantages and disadvantages I suppose. Another great virtue is that there is a FANTASTIC Thai restaurant across the road from it - I think it is called "Dang" or "Nang" and I eat there every day like a king for 60THB for a meal.
EDIT: Just saw your reply. Yes it is girl-friendly. Have a read of this thread for other comments on hotels: http://www.phuket-info.com/forums/ac...esthouses.html I emailed C&N a couple of weeks agao, they probably took about 3 days to reply. Or you can do a reservation request directly here: C&N Hotel - Resort Hotel Patong Beach Phuket Thailand Just make sure you specify C&N Hotel, NOT the C&N Resort which is much more expensive.

thanks,
Do you have a link where you booked it from online or did you use a travel agent?
So I am guessing if other BM's stay there it is late night visitor friendly
I am searching and keep getting C & N resort and spa over there but you said c & n Hotel.
As long as it is near bangla road for the night life as well
Thanks

Check out the link that faultytowers provided, or just email them directly to check on availability and for a quote: info@cnhotelpatong.com
They do not charge a joiner fee to bring a girl back, and if you look at their map, you will see they are in the heart of the action: Hotels in Patong, Phuket: C&N Hotel Patong
Good luck with your choice.

Thumbs up for Lamai
I have had several customers in Faultys who have all used the Lamai Hotel and have been very happy with the set up.
As somebody else said watch out for price increases in December.I know that in the peak period of either side of Christmas and New Years the C&N have a higher price than normal.

To Azz
Back on the lamai Inn. well i would recommend it.
I've stayed there 6 tours now and never had any problems.
Just booked my room now for 8th October.
Lots of Bm's stay at the C&N Hotel and the regular bm's use to get a good discount but as it popular with the board now then no discounts and the regulars are looking else where.
The thing i like about the Lamai is theres a 7/11 next door to stock up at end of night.
As you said it's close enough to the nightlife and i like the 5-10 minute walk just after dinner and before getting ready to go out.

thanks guys,
Good to hear some nice info on Lamai hotel. I will wait and see what price comes back from c&n I guess and take it from there. Lamai looked ok in the pictures but it is good to hear what it is like from people.
John Norway is there something about the place that you never liked? or just in general you wanted something better?
Thanks guys

Just to note there is Lamai Inn as well as Lamai Hotel run by the same people. I've stayed there and it's fine, like yourself I'm not fussed beyond a cheap clean room and friendly staff and it is just that. Although it doesn't affect you this time one thing I like is they end their Peak Season pricing earlier than most.

Thanks for the help everyone,
I ended up with going with C&N hotel as they are 1200 a night as well so that is a good price for me and it does look a little better maybe. So I guess I will catch you there Bello Uomo. I will drop you an email when the time gets closer mate and we can catch up for a beer maybe at mai tai (spelling) bar.
Just waiting now as only 3 days till I leave for 6 week trip to Bali and jakarta. Warm up trip before thailand
Thanks everyone

No worries.
I ended up choosing a different hotel, not the C&N, so sorry if I didn't make that clear earlier. It was a tough choice to make between 2.
But I will still be around for a drink for sure. I arrive in Bangkok on November 21, and Phuket on December 4.

Sleeping in Patong
It is not so much the noise at 12:00 midnight, but 12:00 midday that bothers me!! Why do some people get up so early.
The Lamai is on the second main road more or less opposite Christines. Good location. But knowing the Thai driving style I wonder if the changing gears of lorries going up and down the hill might become wearing after a while.
Nevertheless it is definitely guest friendly and clean. 1,200 baht is not bad at all for peak season.
I stayed at the C&N Spa, not the hotel during the Tsunami. I will not stay there again after that. While the Spa Manageress and senior staff did a runner and abandoned us for 3 days, the C&N staff held it together.

thanks,
From what I read lamai sounded ok but in the end C&N was the same price and I think it has a pool as a bonus and also they are getting us from the airport for free as well.
For 1200baht a night I am happy
My last 2 weeks there I will find a place while I am there. I am thinking of heading up to Bangkok for a few days sometime in the last 2 weeks to see the shows
I can not go to Thailand and not see the shows my mates will kill me if I got back to OZ and told them I never saw a show 55555
