Now that the new airport has been open a week, has anyone had the pleasure of arriving from international, collect baggage, clear customs and then check-in for domestic flights?? How long did it take? What might some helpful tidbits of information be?? I need to book a domestic flight. Would 3 hours be enough time between arriving from international and checkin on the domestic side????

Not sure about booking etc, but departures is directly below the arrivals, I arrived and took about 40 mins from landing, imigration, Baggage collection etc out to the bus area, I guess if you went to departures it would be about the same timeframe.

Then I guess it would depend on flight availablity.

I dont think availablity would be a problem. I just dont want to hang around the airport more than needed. It will be a 17hr flight and not wanting to hang around longer than needed. Also don't want to miss a connection...

Just arrived and sailed through. Lots of immigration desks and baggage was quite speedy. Go through customs channel once you have your bags, turn left and get the lift up to 4 which is the massive domestic floor.

Very stylish looking place too.

Did the international to domestic but my bags were checked through. Signage desperately needs to be changed. It’s about a 20 minute walk from the international gates to the domestic gates….then when you get down to domestic you only see signs for international transfer again. When asked I was at the right place. In my case my bags were checked through to HKT and I cleared customs there. From landing to outside to my taxi was a whole 15 minutes.

On the 3rd floor there is some very over priced shops….bought a coffee while waiting and it cost me 115B…Ouch

There are some expensive places to drink and eat in international departures, Where you book in there are mini marts which are reasonably priced a bottle of water is 10B once you go through immigration a bottle of water in the bars/cafes is 50B.

Also If do go through immigration into duty free early for your flight Dont go down to your gate through baggage control as there are no shops at all once passed this point to buy a drink.
