Central Kata resort more expensive than...
HI folks , just to let that the Central Kata resort charges much more directly then if you purchase through the web site ,an example is : 4 deluxe rooms for 12 nights they tried to charge me B3500 per night while on the site is says B2500 + a 10% for every 3 nights stay .
this is not fair as you go directly and try to speak with a reservation manager who should have a bit of power to discount such a large group for a long stay.
Unless I miss something?
Enjoy and smile

No sorry did talk over the phone but emailed him from the UK. I also told him it is cheaper to book directly over the web then with a receiption manager but he said then please do it over the web.

Phuket Marina Resort says the same thing, book through their website, for their best price.
The resort will have 158 rooms by November so a group of 4 rooms is not that big a booking for him.

Was 2500 the price on their own website or one of those travel/hotel sites (presumably getting commissions)? I've seen it several times now where the cheapest price available is on the 3rd party sites...I don't understand the math in that from the hotels POV. Possiblly there are deals going on in the background with these sites where the hotel gets better ratings/more exposure for more bookings through the affiliate.

It is a fairly normal thing in the hotel industry to price lower via third party sellers. Think about it in this way, if you agree or not. If you call directly with the hotel, being it by phone, mail or as walk in, you have your foot already in the door and have made your decision to stay there. The hotel will make every effort to quote you as high as possible.
In contrary to listings with internet booking agencies, A lot of hotels at simple listings and therefor highly competitive on pricing.
My advise, if their price is better via the internet, book this way.... Save yourself the hassle of trying to get a better price by endless mails and/or conversations. The prices are there to be used for this sales channel, so use them....

Have to agree with To the beach. Normally agencies get sold a certain number of rooms at a hotel. These rooms then get sold by the agent and since agencies buy in bulk they get better rates which often times the reservations manager/front desk officer cannot offer.
So like to the beach said, just book through the net.

great advice from everyone
As usually you guys are just great with your advices . I may well stay at the Kata garden resort as they quote B1300 for a twin bungalow .
I am not sure if there is anything better for this price in Kata for arrival on Nov 3 and for 12 nights.
Again , thank you
Franco

I'm not sure that applies here - the likes of sawasdee and phuket.com aren't buying up all the rooms and reselling rather they get a cut of the bookings I imagine. It's a good point about the walk-ins and so on but if you phone up the hotel quoting them the price I don't see what they gain by turning you down and certainly they lose something.
