Finalizing Hotel Booking...

I'm finalizing my Phuket hotel bookings, and I am trying to pick between Patong Bay Resort and the Safari Hotel. Both are in the same area. Patong Bay is right on the beach and seems a little nicer but guessing more family oriented.

I'd prefer a nicer hotel on the beach, but not if it's just me and a bunch of families. I've read that both are GF, but per a linked site the Patong Bay guest fee is 1,000 baht....likely avoided though with a double booking.

Thanks for any addiitonal information you can provide...I've searched the forum and it's been extremely helpful in narrowing down my choices. I'm arriving the January 1st so hopefully there are a few rooms left!!

Update: Booking the White Sand Resortel based on the recommendations of this board. Not much left for the peak season!

Patong Bay Garden is supposedly not GF. I booked a double room and never paid joiner fee. Liked the hotel, straight on the beach, excellent rooms (not the one overlooking the pool and the sea, above the reception,try to get one in the wings looking at the pool). Only negative is a lousy kitchen, also for breakfast.
