Kamala Bay Garden Resort
Is this place far away from Patong?
I understand it's a family resort, good for the kids with the water slide.
But how bout restaurants and nightlife? Anything nice nearby or will i have to drive to Patong or take a tuk tuk?

Kamala is about 6 km north from Patong. The hotel is very nice with 2 pools and only 30 meters to the Indian Ocean. I have not try the food in the hotel. Dont eat in the hotel, its just 5 min walk to Kamala City. There you have 20-30 restaurants. The nightlife ? Well, its not like Patong. There is some bars with ladies. I like Kamala. I use to stay there 4 weeks in Feb every year. This year I will stay in Patong. More stunners

Thank you very much for the info. I looked at the site and the water slide looks good.
It's for the kids, but the adults need somewhere nice to eat also, and some place to drink.

There are loads of places to eat and drink in Kamala, there with the wife and kids you are not looking for bars with stunners but if so then plenty of them. Restaurants range from top one 'Rockfish' really nice views of the bay and great presentation of food cooked well, through to side stalls where you can get authentic thai/issan food for 40bht, french, italian, swiss, swedish restaurants and so on.
Patong is of course nice to go to for some evenings and if so tuk tuk will cost you 300baht or 450 if you book the same guy for the return journey as well, takes about 15 minutes. Only have small shops in Kamala, everything covered but no large mall, so again would need to go into Patong as Jungceylon should be open by then.
Just noticed you never said when you were thinking of booking as this could change opinion, half of Kamala shuts down for low season, so would only recommend staying here high or peak season if travelling with family.

Thank you Dodger for the information. I really appreciate it. I am asking this for my friends and their family. It's the kids that are fussy and want water slides and nice pools. They previously stayed at Laguna Beach Resort, but too expensive, so looking for something cheaper. Will pass all the information to them.
I always stay at Patong.
Erm, since you mentioned that half of Kamala shuts down during low season, i will ask them to go earlier during the high season either February or March.
Cheers and thank you.
