Just wondering if anyone know where I could hire a scooter without having to give up my passport?

I hired a scooter in Patong last Septmber, and fortunately the guys were still there with my passport a week later when I returned the bike.

I hired a Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic recently & the dealer wanted my passport.

I told him I needed my passport to cash travellers cheques (which I showed him)....He just took a photocopy & that was suffice.

At the very most, only offer them a photocopy of your passport. Don't ever leave your passport with these shops. If the first place won't accept that, move on until you find some place that will. If it's anything like the scooter rental situation in Pattaya, the competition is abundant.

Plenty back on Nanai road for 1000baht/week, 3000-3500/month and just give them a photocopy of your passport.
