sure you can.. But the fact is 90% of the deals for this kind of short term accommodation dont go online.. The market is too fluid, the margins low and the best deals done by people that dont have email, internet, web publishing etc skills.

About the only real estate agent that can be bothered with the rental market is welta Hello, my name is Wellta, I'm born in Phuket: houses on my island.

I also know 2 girls who are (talkign about) starting up a house hunting and room finder service in the tourist towns (Kamala, Patong, Karon, Kata) looking to the budget / guesthouse market..

My advise is arrive with one week guesthouse and spend that week looking really hard..

There will be loads of decent apartments at that time for 10 - 12k a month including cleaning and electric. Best just to pitch up, stay in a 5-600baht a night room for a night or two, get a motorbike and go around and negotiate.

Dont think about being outside Patong if nightlife (girls) is what you are coming here for..

It would be good if you want to be close to golf. Both Loch Palm and PCC are right there. The apt. rents will be a lot cheaper, and you are conveniently located between Patong and PhuketTown, so you can access both for nightlife if you want farang-style or Thai-style. There is also a small lake in the area for fishing.

Those are the only substantial benefits of the area that I can think of. Just don't drink and drive if you doo settle there. Take a tuk tuk. The road to and from Patong is a doozy....
