"Special Offers" from U.K

As a lot of BM's will be looking for flights for next years holidays I thought I'd start a thread where "Special Offers" etc could be posted.

Many of the deals I get e-mailed look great at first , but when taxes are added , they are not that good a price.

Today I got one from Lazy Vacations about their "Special Thai Airways Prices", they don't look that cheap to me !!!!!.

Flights to Thailand, India, China, Malaysia and other Far Eastern destinations with Thai Airways

Cheaper than others..

Thanks for posting....the Thai flight is about £80 cheaper than I've seen advertised elsewhere (Airline Network mainly) when the taxes are included.

Seen similiar prices via KL but that involves a long overnight break at KL on the return. Maybe the £450 or less return is gone due to fuel and taxes etc increases.

AN state taxes at £145 Lazy Vacation advert say £108...confused again????

I usually make airline network my first port of call for checking flights.
This link sorts the flights by available prices, and can be quite handy if you are flexible with dates:
Gateway Page

It's also always worth checking if the flight is cheaper when booked together with a single night in a hotel (I find expedia better for this but also possible on airlinenetwork).

Also worth remembering flight prices can go down as well as up ....

Benchmark

Don't know Faulty, they just seem very average, you could take it almost as a Benchmark.

I'm always prepared to pay between 450-700 Pound all included for a return Heathrow - BKK.

I never would go to a different Airport in the UK, I never would stop somewhere in Dubai etc. That all would be just too much hassle and not worth it, then again, I only live 30 min. from Heathrow.

If going to LOS, please, make it 11 hours, not 24 (unless you're planning to stay 2 month or so, but not for a 2,5 weeks trip)

Being a smoker, I find 11 hours a bit too long to do without, unless I fill myself with sleeping drugs. Connecting through the middle east makes the trip usually 13-14 hours and lets me have a much needed smoke.
Also for premium fares direct airlines are usually at least 2x the Gulf airlines fares - 11 hours in economy is not fun.
LHR also best for me but if the price is right LGW is also do-able.

I reckon they are very dear fares considering £128 tax has to be added to those prices. For the "inconvenience" of a very short stop in the Middle East, I will always go with a Mid East airline and enjoy far cheaper prices.
Still only takes 13.5 hrs flying time with a stop.

eg Qatar Airways £406 inc tax to BKK 27/3
Thai Airways £445 + £128 to BKK same day. Easy choice for me.

Unless you can control yourself and don't spend those 150 Pound (appr. 10.500 Baht) the first night on arrival ;-))

That was what I thought , I have also seen cheaper flights on Thai's own website.

There again , I'm another of the "Middle Easterners" , can't stand 11/12 hours in an economy seat (have done it Business once but still found it too long). I can usually find a good deal with Emirates which suits me for timings etc , and as I only live 15 minutes from LHR , the extra time in Dubai is no big deal.

For me it's usually a combination of comfort (nice to have a break) and cost , as I find the non-direct flights can be cheaper (remember , I'm Scottish ).

Was he one of the ones known as 10 pound stowaways ?? If so he went out on the cunard lines (Northern star, southern cross) and my old fella could well have done his laundry (as well as cleaning out his pockets )

The stories from the cunard days.. Civil war in panama.. Tearing the wooden dock off after setting fire to the city in Tonga or Fiji.. Picking up a entire division of mercenaries for one hop.. Hitting the reef.. Really wild stuff !!

Not sure LOS.....

The family (Uncle + wife +3 kids) went for the better life...... as teachers (PE and maths I recall) were wanted big time. Went to Hobart Tasmania to start then Geelong area (where the f..K that is) then Melbourne area place called Mornington retired and ran a sop.

May have taught some guys who use this forum.....frightening. Name was Williams.

My biggest mistake was that I didn't take the offers to visit in my 20's......visiting local pubs was more of an interest.
